Serialization?
[edit]The way the article reads now, it sounds like it was never serialized. It shouldn't be to hard to find what magazine it ran in. —Quasirandom (talk) 15:42, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Good question...neither ANN nor the JA wiki mention it at all. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 04:05, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- It looks like it really was first published in bound volumes, without magazine serialization. I haven't found a reliable source to definitely state this, but the non-reliable sources have convinced me this is true. I find this ... really interesting, and wish I could find out what was behind that editorial decision. —Quasirandom (talk) 16:42, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Annnnnnd now that I've seen a scan of the copyright page (pp. 194, isbn 4-09-131651-4), I find this is in fact not true. It lists first publication as from Showa 59 11th month 20th day to Showa 60 5th month 25th day, but I can't make out the magazine; according to some scanlators, it was Shōjo Comic, which fits given the rate of publication of the tankobon suggests biweekly serialization. If I can find an image online, I'll post a link so that others with Nihongo skillz can check it. I'm especially bothered by an apparent end of serialization date that's well pass the tankobon pub date -- I may be misinterpretating 5th month as meaning May here. —Quasirandom (talk) 20:10, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Plot?
[edit]Or at least, a potted summary of what the story's about -- something about were-leopards and a plot by the heroine's father, but aside from that I don't really understand it. (Also, the drama seems to be notable for being an early user of CGI, at the level of cheesy special effects, though the transformation between human and leopard seems to have been handled well.) —Quasirandom (talk) 03:18, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- It sounds like Cat People...she starts turning into a leopard and has to learn to control herself :P -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 04:13, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- I cannot find any source apart mentioning about Purple Eyes in the Dark's CGI special effects. Extremepro (talk) 10:05, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Title?
[edit]Where is the English title Purple Eyes in the Dark coming from, when nothing in the series is licensed? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 04:03, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Do you want to move the page to it's romaji name: Yami no Pāpuru Ai? Extremepro (talk) 10:07, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- See [1] - it appears to be the actual title as printed on the "OVA" laserdisc (which is actually more of an image video than an OVA, I have an ancient VHS copy of it). 159.182.1.4 (talk) 13:39, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's also used in the bunkoban edition. See references 2 through 8.--Nohansen (talk) 15:32, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- So it is -- looks like it's the official translation, then. —Quasirandom (talk) 16:44, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Cool...just wanted to be sure :) -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 16:51, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
