Can anyone define what a vertical school structure is?

Most schools pastorially group kids by year groups (like in form groups all members will be from the same year. I believe a vertical school structure isn't like this, but mixes year groups a lot more. This link goes into a discussion of it at ome school (the link is taken from the consultation page for school changes from the PGS website. Evil Eye 13:55, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Address

[edit]

I have removed the mention of Sheffield from the infobox as that just causes confusion as it is in the Metropolitan borough of Barnsley but has a Sheffield post code. To avoid confusion it is best not to bother with the post town in the article as with most other articles. Keith D (talk) 18:12, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request

[edit]

Somebody, who clearly does not know me, has inserted a reference that is totally incorrect. My chair at Lancaster University was in Operational Research, later changed to Management Science, and no post of Dean of the University ever existed. If I am to be listed with the Notable Alumni, then I wish the entry to be correct and included in its correct alphabetical position.

My career details in Who's Who have remained largely unchanged since I became Emeritus in 1998 and may be referenced.I believe the appropriate Notable Alumni entry should be as follows.

"Alan Mercer(b.1931)distinguished academic and New Towns administrator;married Iris Pigott,a Penistone alumnus."

Otherwise, the incorrect entry should be removed.86.158.22.40 (talk) 13:32, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've responded to the edit request and attempted to tidy the page formatting here. -Roxy the dog (resonate) 18:27, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have reduced Mercer to name/date/profession. It still needs a viable citation that he attended Penistone to keep his name on the list. Certainly his wife should not be here - notability does not rub off by association. Care must be taken over people who say they are the very people in WP articles and want special treatment changes. There is no proof that the IP address here is the 'name' in question. If there is a problem, the complainant can approach WP officially/formally, not through a talk page. However, we edit by always referring to reliable and verifiable sources, whatever those sources say - why we do this is to avoid problems posed here. Mercer is just one of the job lot in this 'Notable Alumni' with no proof offered for attendance, specified by the 'Alumni' banner heading the section. Acabashi (talk) 19:35, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing

[edit]

Much of the history section is unsourced. It looks as if the table of heads may have been copied from here. Tacyarg (talk) 22:21, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
