- The disambig. page MOS states that images on disambiguation pages should "aid in selecting between articles".
- Two editors dispute whether Image:Allops.JPG meets that requirement.
- One editor continuously removes the image, asking on this talk page, on the adding editor's talk page, and in edit summaries that an explanation for how the picture meets the MOS standard be provided on this talk page. This editor also states that the image does not include a fair-use rationale for its inclusion here.
- Another editor continues to revert the image's presence with an explanation for its inclusion in his/her edit summaries.

- I believe in this case the image doesn't hurt nor help the disamb page. Taking in account the debatable fair-use, I would go with not using the image.Xuxunette 09:52, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Pictures of the various versions of Optimus Prime could "aid in selecting between articles" for people who don't know much about the franchise or have only seen one picture or the other. The picture in question however is much too jumbled to make out which version is which and serves more to confuse than to help.--Mirage GSM 11:45, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Optimus Prime → Optimus Prime (The Transformers) — See talk page - to either (Transformer) or (original). — Eh! Steve (talk) 13:37, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- Megatron → Megatron (The Transformers)
- Starscream → Starscream (The Transformers)
- Ultra Magnus → Ultra Magnus (The Transformers)
- Cliffjumper → Cliffjumper (The Transformers)
- Rodimus → Rodimus (The Transformers)
Or:
- Optimus Prime → Optimus Prime (original)
- Ultra Magnus → Ultra Magnus (original)
- Megatron → Megatron (original)
- Rodimus → Rodimus (original)
- Cliffjumper → Cliffjumper (original)
- Starscream → Starscream (original)
I've been talking about this for a while, but the fact that the G1 versions of these Transformers characters "own" the undisambiguated article names is a bit biased. Not only does this treat the G1 versions of the characters as "superior" and "definitive", which would be a big point of argument among Transfans (for example, the movie versions are more well-known but not necessarily more popular), but things would happen like little kids looking for the movie version of Prime getting redirected to a page on an old cartoon character they don't know about. Therefore, I suggested that the G1 pages be moved to disambiguated names, and that the undisambiguated names lead to disambiguation pages. After I've been trying to find a catch-all term for a disambiguator, eventually finding (The Transformers) or (original). While not all G1-related material carries the title "Generation 1", almost all G1 universe-related material except for Beast Wars (in which these characters aren't main characters) carries the title "The Transformers" (with the "The"), but if this is a bad disambiguator anyway then there's always (original) as a disambiguator. Lemme know what you think. If you don't like the disambiguators then you can always suggest new ones. --Eh! Steve (talk) 13:37, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
(NOTE: As of now, some of the pages were already moved before I realized there was no real consensus. The page move refers to the pages on the G1 characters. Also, I'm not requesting a move for Bumblebee's page since it's already disambiguated.)
- I see you didn't bother waiting as you just went ahead and made all the moves without discussion anyways. I suggest an admin revert all of those moves first. I also laugh at your comment that the movie versions are more well-known, most of the people I saw going to the live-action movies just wanted to see an action flick and likely wouldn't remember the names. TJ Spyke 14:37, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- I moved them because there was mild discussion before hand at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Transformers and, from experience, most of the things I suggested for moving/splitting Transformers pages were discussed at length by other users, so I just decided to save the trouble. (It was wrong to do so, though, and I won't do it again.) Also, my comment that the movie versions are the most well-known (as well as yours that people don't remember the names) is just speculation; there's no way to prove or disprove either, but the movies have definitely brought Transformers to a more mainstream audience than any other universe, even G1, and people who liked the movie would likely remember the names. Even Lil' Formers, which I think was written by a prominent movie-hater, acknowledged that Movie Prime is the most well-known Prime among children and general audiences. Yes, I know, G1 is the most well-known Transformers incarnation within the fanbase itself (as it's the basis for the entire fanbase), but not everyone who uses Wikipedia is a hardcore TF fan; as a mainstream website, Wikipedia should better reflect what mainstream audiences are looking for (which means that "Optimus Prime" shouldn't just mean "G1 Prime"). However, it would actually be worse if someone decided to use the undisambiguated names for the Movie characters, because they aren't the original versions and haven't been around for as long.--Eh! Steve (talk) 14:41, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
I just moved the four articles to name (Transformers) as it is consistant with a dozen+ other Transformers articles already disambig'd. Please ignore the above request. Mathewignash (talk) 15:12, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, that fixes the bias and is a major improvement. Cliffjumper and Rodimus haven't been moved yet, though, and I think I shouldn't because I wouldn't do it very well, as stated below. Could someone plz move those pages?--Eh! Steve (talk) 15:56, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- One of the reasons you should wait for the outcome of a requested move is that the people who close requested moves are more familiar (and in most cases perform) the necessary cleanup for the moves they implement. When you moved these articles, you orphaned multiple images and left numerous double redirects unfixed.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:46, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

The Optimus Prime's from Unicron Trilogy and Transformers Animated were merged into Optimus Prime (other incarnations). Then that article was merged into Optimus Prime (Transformers), which redirected here because of one article sharing that title. Optimus Prime (Transformers) redirected here replacing it disambig content that the links redirect to here. Some info needs to be updated and summarized. Optimus Primal keeps a seperate article though. 71.162.98.85 (talk) 23:13, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Article Size
As of now, this article is 106 kB in size and 17565 words in length, not counting HTML code or references. According to Wikipedia: Article Size, an article should almost certainly be split as it nears 100kB. Because this article was created by merging other articles, maybe some of the explanations of what Prime does in each series can be summarized instead of drawn out?
Also, redirects to this page may have problems because several sections, such as "toys" and "animated series" appear multiple times. Therefore, redirects here to a certain animated series may be directed to the wrong one. Sesamehoneytart 13:53, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Under the "Beast Machines" heading, it describes what the two golden discs in the statue of Optimus Prime are. One of the descriptions is that he one them in a spelling bee. This sounds like a joke. I ask that this part of the sentence be removed. Thank you.

- Done It was unsourced, so I removed it. The whole section needs sources. If you could help with that, it would be appreciated! Thanks. — Jess· Δ♥ 23:13, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- The spelling bee thing was from the Bob Skir web site, I added a link to a mirror of that site. As for the rest of the section, most of the plot from a TV series does NOT require a source, since the source is the show itself. You don't need a source outside the primary one to write plot synopsis. Mathewignash (talk) 23:46, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

The American devised the name.(Because it is important, I describe it in the outstanding place. ).
The Japanese did original design(Please underestimated. Please do not put in a conspicuous place a dirty name.)
I have talked with an American in Skype. The Japanese copied "Optimus Prime" and made Gundam.

Hello, I am requesting to edit the Optimus Prime page, which incorrectly states that when Optimus' main component transforms, it becomes an ion blaster. This is not true. The following is a reference from the page "http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Optimus_Prime_(G1)":
Before being rebuilt into a Powermaster, his robot mode split into three components: A sentient robot module, the Brain Center. A wheeled drone module known as Roller. A Combat Deck.
As you can see, the list states that Optimus Prime's first (and main) component transforms into a "sentinel robot module", called the "brain center". Optimus CARRIES an ion blaster; he does NOT turn into one (as Wikipedia states). If you could, please correct this.
Thank you, MaximusPrime2949 (talk) 15:28, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

G1 Alternate Mode
The article currently states that the G1 OP truck mode was a Kenworth K100. But this is incorrect. The actual G1 alt mode was a White Freightliner design.
One key telltale difference would be the additional small rectangular air intake between the large radiator grill and the windshield. The Freightliners from the 1970s and '80s (and the G1 OP toy) had this; the Kenworths never have.
Another noteworthy difference is the shape of the wheelwells. In the Freightliner and G1 toy, the wheelwell rises up in front of the front wheel, crests over the wheel, and then descends down behind the wheel, forming a semi-circle around the front wheel. In the Kenworth, however, the wheelwell only rises up in front of the wheel, and then extends straight rearward all the way to the back of the cab, without ever curving downward; the Kenworth's wheelwell does not form a semi-circle around the front wheel.

Inclusion of Seattle Seahawks player Richard Sherman
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
The Wikipedia pages for both Optimus Prime and Megatron have sections referring to their "cultural impact." While viewing these, the page for Megatron states that American football player Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions is nicknamed "Megatron." Television commentators have addressed him as Megatron, NFLShops.com has sold a blue "81" hat with simply the word "Megatron" on top of it, and ESPN made a "This Is Sportscenter" commercial a year or so ago with Johnson where he "transformed" into a soda machine, complete with sound effects. All fine and good.
Calvin Johnson plays the position of Wide Receiver, and is known for not only being the tallest WR in the league (6'5) but arguably the most dynamic WR in the game today. The defender that is the normal counterpart for a WR is a Cornerback, and as Johnson is highly regarded as the pinnacle of that position, Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks is the pinnacle of the CB position. Yet even though there is mention of Johnson on the Megatron Wikipedia page, there is no such mention on the Optimus Prime Wikipedia page of Sherman.
In the 2012 season, the Seahawks traveled to Detroit to play the Lions, and the week before the game, Sherman changed his twitter page to reflect the name "Optimus Prime." Sources here: http://sports-kings.com/downanddistance/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Optimus-Prime.jpg http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/10/25/after-tweeting-trash-talk-to-brady-richard-sherman-turns-to-megatron/
The capper for this experience is that, during an interview with Sam Farmer of The Los Angeles Times in advance of the SEA@DET game, Farmer contacted a mutual friend with perennial Prime voice Peter Cullen and had Cullen call Sherman and wish him luck; in character. Source here: http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2012/10/28/richard-sherman-optimus-prime-peter-cullen-voice/1663743/
There have been several images promoting the idea of Sherman as Optimus Prime over the years since the buildup to that game. Sources: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A6KDQfWCMAA5bcP.jpg http://officialvolume12.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/sherman_optimus_article.jpg http://thewhistle.com/media/uploads/football/whistle_superbowl_optimusprime.jpg
And Sherman has been known to sign football/Seahawks memorabilia with "Optimus Prime" after his name. Sources: http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server400/karer354/products/65512/images/138466/DSC01828__21399.1388718927.1280.1280.JPG?c=2 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51W0MIpEu5L.jpg http://www.insidersportsdeals.com/Richard-Sherman-Autographed-Seattle-Seahawks-Nike-Jersey-Optimus-Prime_p_4253.html
Lastly, immediately after the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII, Quarterback Russell Wilson went to check on Sherman, as Sherman exited the game early with an ankle injury. Before parting ways with Sherman, Wilson's exact words were "Optimus, I'll see ya." This footage is available on the NFL Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl dvd/blu-ray.
Bearing all of this in mind, I am requesting that a change be made to the "popular culture" section of the Wikipedia page for Optimus Prime similar to that of Megatron's whereby, in the same manner that Calvin Johnson is nicknamed "Megatron," Richard Sherman is nicknamed "Optimus Prime." Proposed change should be similar or identical to:
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is sometimes referred to by his fans as Optimus Prime.
Missing Information
I can't edit the page or I'd do it myself. But Gary Chalk was an English voice actor for Optimus Prime during the entire Unicron Trilogy so I think that deserves at least as much credit as someone who recorded some lines for a talking toy. --24.16.218.57 (talk) 14:29, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Superhero
Can Optimus Prime be really considered a superhero? I know that in the G1 animated series and Transformers: Animated, Optimus could indeed fit the superhero archetype but I don't think superhero is a portrayal that could be universally applied to him; then again I could be wrong. What do you think? Leader Vladimir (talk) 16:07, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Transformers-foc optimus.jpg
File:Transformers-foc optimus.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
