Color arrangement
[edit]Why is the VVD coloured green at the opinion polls section? That colour is far more suitable for the BBB, which is probably itself a more appropriate color for Denk. A better idea would be to base them off the colours of the previous election. KangarooGymnast (talk) 17:34, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- The colours were OK, but appeared above the wrong column.
- Fixed: moved 'ref' header to first line with rowspan=3. Uwappa (talk) 17:49, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
Opinion polling tables
[edit]This page contains a graph and two tables showing opinion polling in the run-up to this election. I believe their length bring this article out of balance, in accordance to WP:NOTSTATS. The two tables are mostly providing duplicate information: the number of seats is merely a reflection of the vote share due to the Netherlands's proportional voting system. Since all polls that are included seem to have recorded the number of seats, I am in favor of removing the vote share table. I don't believe the second table's added precision (giving the exact decimals) is increasing the reader's understanding of this election after the first one. - Tristan Surtel (talk) 21:06, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think the goal will be to move it to Opinion polling for the 2028 Dutch general election (or another date) in the future, similar to Opinion polling for the 2023 Dutch general election. Given that there is not much to say about this hypothetical election, it isn't problematic to have it here. But it can also be moved to Opinion polling for the next Dutch general election perhaps (so remove the redirect)? Dajasj (talk) 20:45, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- It make sense to move it to a separate page at some point. Regardless of its location, however, I believe including just the single table (of seat count) should suffice to avoid duplication. - Tristan Surtel (talk) 20:25, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- The table is important for readers to easily locate the results of each poll. If the polling table becomes overly bulky, say, within a year, I wouldn't be opposed to moving it to something like Opinion polling for the next Dutch general election, assuming there aren't any snap elections. But right now, the article is so bare bones that such a thing would remove a large amount of the article. 2A02:C7C:2DCE:1F00:7141:961B:60B2:D440 (talk) 00:35, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think the point of an article should be to fill it with information purely for the sake of making it longer. As mentioned before, I'd like to know what added understanding of the topic the "vote share" table brings after already having shown "seats" table/graph. In case the reader is interested in the precise results and distinction (which is minimal in proportional voting), we do provide the links to the polls as refs. But I believe this mostly duplicate information provided adds little to most readers. - Tristan Surtel (talk) 10:23, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- As mentioned, the polling tables will be moved to a dedicated article eventually, thus solving the problem of the vote share table taking too much space in the election article. That being said, I agree it's a bit superfluous and wouldn't mind its deletion.
- Speaking of the polling tables, could we perhaps agree to removing the "Lead" column? I don't think it's a very relevant statistic in an electoral/political system such as that of the Netherlands. Luxorr (talk) 15:12, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
