I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 23:14, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Two dead links: [1] and [2].
  • You introduce YBP as an acronym, but never use it again; I'd just cut the acronym.
  • 5,000 ± 350,000: is this a typo for "500,000 ± 350,000"?
  • Suggest linking Olca and Michincha in the article, and eliminating the "See also" links.
  • Footnote 21 should be "pp."

First dead link remedied (but other SERNAGEOMIN links need checking, I can't do so right now), I can't find the second one. Dropped YBP. The date is apparently not a typo strangely enough, but I notice that the third date apparently is -80,000 years in the past not 80,000 years in the past; asking a second opinion here before fixing that. Footnote and links remedied. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 17:28, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Fixes look good; the only remaining issue is the deadlink, which is in the external link in note a. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 20:20, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Christie: That link works for me? Anyhow, the thing with the dates is that radiometric dates sometimes have uncertainties larger than the actual value or that they show negative dates. Now that I look at the article again I am not sure that -80,000 ± 40,000 years ago makes a lot of sense, perhaps I should add an explanatory note but that won't work before tomorrow ... apparently most discussion on this topic is by creationist websites. OK, I'll wait till you post here again. Re the link: [3] gives me a "too many redirects occurred"; I tried it in both Chrome and Safari, and got the same result. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 21:20, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hum, for me both links https://volcano.si.edu/volcano.cfm?vn=355050&vtab=Subfeatures and https://volcano.si.edu/volcano.cfm?vn=355050 work fine. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 21:23, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Those work for me too -- it seems the external links tool has a bug; it stripped part of that URL. Sorry about that. That just leaves the date range issue. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 21:48, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Christie: Did that fix. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 17:33, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good; promoting. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 19:04, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Misidentified mountain

[edit]

@Jo-Jo Eumerus: Using Google Earth 3D terrain view, it can be estimated that the Aucanquilcha photo was taken approximately at 21°02′00″S 68°39′21″W / 21.03333°S 68.65583°W / -21.03333; -68.65583, which is incompatible with the location of Olca-Paruma. Jespinos (talk) 17:32, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Um, which photo? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:57, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The only photo Jespinos (talk) 18:07, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You sure? It's hard to infer view angle from there, although I think it's going to be difficult to get a photo that has both Olca-Paruma and Aucanquilcha. I'll ask the photographer. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 13:36, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure. Check the terrain layer is turn on in the layers panel of Google Earth. Press the shift key and scrolling to tilt the view. By the way, I have cropped a photo by the same author where is shown part of the volcanic complex. Regretfully, the summit of Olca is not shown and the summit of Paruma is shown shrouded in clouds. Google Earth does not work for me, sorry. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:35, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
