NBA conference finals most valuable player → NBA conference finals MVP awards – This one is not like the others from which the word "award" was removed, since the title is not the name of an award, and since it's about several distinct awards. It seems better with "most valuable player" abbreviated to the common acronym MVP in this case, and plural awards. Dicklyon (talk) 04:19, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
@Bagumba: since you moved it after the RM and have obviously thought more about it than the closer or any of the other participants in the previous RM discussion. Dicklyon (talk) 04:27, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- Comment Seems to make sense. The actual titles are Western Conference finals MVP and Eastern Conference finals MVP, but nobody refers to the aggregate as "NBA conference finals MVP", so a descriptive page title about the awards would be "NBA conference finals MVP awards". And I guess since its not a formal award but a descriptive term, sources often dont expand MVP to "most valuable player" (and its not needed for disambiguation). Plain "MVP" in a title just seems strange, but I guess it's no different than NBA not needing to be expanded in titles either. I'll probably warm up to it.—Bagumba (talk) 04:43, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- Comment For convenience, the previous RM referred to, which removed award from the title, is Talk:NBA Finals Most Valuable Player § Requested move 11 October 2024. I only downcased to most valuable player.—Bagumba (talk) 04:47, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support Barring any new insight, the aggregate description is not the title given to players, unlike the other award pages that were moved, so awards is needed for context. And since it's not a formal title nor ambiguous, the more oft-used abbreviation MVP seems OK (but no objection if it was left spelled out).—Bagumba (talk) 04:12, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Comment - Wasn't an RM already held on this matter? GoodDay (talk) 16:30, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Bagumba linked the previous RM in his comment above; and the move since then. Both results there are clearly flawed, so we're seeking the best fix. Dicklyon (talk) 21:37, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
