Yemeni?

[edit]

The lede calls him Yemeni, but his father was either Syrian or Iraqi and Yemen is never mentioned in the rest of the article... --Jfruh (talk) 02:40, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This whole articles is innacurately based on al-Hakem and the other early Arabic works, which are not accurate for the conquest of Iberia. I suspect there is simply contradiction between sources as to his own ethnicity and that of his parents. Which source to trust? Probably none as regards ethnicity. I have added additional material from al-Bakri and Akhbar Majmua, sources which are Iberian. But they also contain exactly the same contradictions as ibn al-Hakam. There is very little difference between the Oriental (Egyptian-Iraqi-Persian) sources and the Iberian. MisterCDE (talk) 12:16, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yemeni? yes!

[edit]

In the old arabic sources Yemeni does not mean that he is from Yemen. but it means that he is from an Yemeni tribe, like Tai, or Ansar, or Lukhem... Yemeni tribes lived (and lives) in the south & the north of Arabia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maamardli (talkcontribs) 23:08, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is correct ... some of the tribes he is said to have belonged to do trace their origins to Yemen, but at the time Musa was born and long before that, they had migrated to Syria and elsewhere. MisterCDE (talk) 12:12, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Persian?

[edit]

The famous Iranian Ayatollah Morteza Mottahari wrote in his book 'Khedamat-e Moteghabel-e Iran va Eslam' (Mutual Services between Iran and Islam) on page 677 that Musa ibn al Nusayr was a Persian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.93.52.152 (talk) 07:11, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Tabari

[edit]

@Emir of Wikipedia: @Farawahar: I am confident that I read what al-Tabari said, and no Persian affiliation was attributed to him, therefore the statement is OR and would be removed, unless you find a source that assert on the said claim, then the remark should be included. Nabataeus (talk) 19:25, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We can not only rely on your « i’m confident », one should find the source number 3 and check it out.

There is template:quote needed if someone can't find it. --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 22:25, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea about this template. Maybe we should ask for help. —>Farawahar (talk) 02:29, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That template just asks for a quote. It is what will tell us who we can ask for help. --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 11:06, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
