release dates: source?
[edit]where are these new dates coming from? two days ago people were adding April 27th as the NA release date for Flipnote Studio, and today it's being added as May 11th (with the PAL release date still being added as May 1st). I cannot find any source confirming these new dates that is not quoting the Wikipedia article itself OR is not quoted as a rumor. I would love to be wrong about this (i am so excited for this to eventually be released, really I am) but without a proper source, those dates cannot be added to this article. :( Khisanth (talk) 21:45, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
I contacted Nintendo. They cannot say when they release dsi software for some reason. So, we just need to wait. And whoever is changing the date should stop, 'cause it's not funny.
(User talk:Kasumi12) 19:40, 29 April 2009 (utc)
- Thanks for trying. I went ahead and changed the NA and EU release dates to 'TBA', as 'N/A' implies the title won't be released at all outside of Japan, and I can't even find anything officially stating we'll get the software in 2009. If someone can find something stating a 2009 release (even if a specific date is not provided) and that is a reliable source (they aren't just assuming we'll get it this year), please feel free to update. :3 Khisanth (talk) 16:05, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
cool!I'll keep looking for a source. I really want this to come out in NA. I'll keep watch on the DSishop. We'll never know 'till it comes. ([User Talk:Kasumi12]) 17:49, 30 April 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.234.108.111 (talk)
a.k.a. Moving Memo, Moving Memo Pad
[edit]'Moving Memo dsi' turns up 38,900 google hits and 'Moving Memo Pad dsi' turns up 12,700 google hits ('Moving Memopad dsi' turns up only 6,790, and most of them have the space in 'memo pad' anyway). In comparison, 'Moving Notepad dsi' (the only version of the name Nintendo themselves have given us, even though they also acknowledge it may not be their final choice for an English-language release) turns up a mere 5,990 google hits in comparison. Even though I think 'moving memo pad' sounds silly too, it's got the hits to back it up. -- Khisanth (talk) 20:24, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
And what's up with the "never" on the PAL release date? Nintendo is really annoying me. I wish they would hurry up and put it on the shop channel because a million people want it. *sigh* I'm starting to think it'll never see an overseas release. ([uSER:Kasumi12]) 11:55 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Flipnote studio animations format
[edit]The actual programming format for the flipnote studio animations was documented in the web a few months ago. It is based on a common format from an academic institution, free open source library for graphic handling and conversion, but no mention was made of it in this article. The page for downloading it was available at least till 11/2011, but now it seems to be no longer available despite its popularity and its long story and availability in the web. djb — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.134.147.105 (talk) 22:27, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
- This page sounds very interesting! Where can I find more information about this?Sfz95 (talk) 23:06, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Swapnote isn't the successor to Flipnote Studio.
[edit]Rather it is a successor to Pictochat. This section should be removed since it is entirely false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sqall2 (talk • contribs) 06:34, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
Help
[edit]Hi I'm trying to create a new wikipedia article called flipnote Studio3D. Trying to move some stuff to that article and to a lesser extent edit this article. Can you help? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 14recine (User talk: 14recine talk • contribs) 12:41, 02, August 2013 (UTC)
Should there be a separate page for Flipnote Hatena?
[edit]Flipnote Hatena was a big part of Flipnote Studio, but it wasn't technically part of the app. Perhaps a brief summary of the service would suffice (with a greater emphasis on the Flipnote creation elements of the app), and separate page describing in-depth the Flipnote Hatena community. Sfz95 (talk) 00:04, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
- Support - Hello there! I was also wondering if we should create a separate article for Flipnote Hatena. Currently, the Hatena topic is simply a subsection of "Features," but I feel the service deserves a complete article. There are many aspects of Flipnote Hatena (such as history, online accessibility, current ways to access Flipnote Hatena from personal servers, and specific features of Hatena rather than of Flipnote Studio) that are not mentioned or barely described in the few paragraphs concerning the topic. If the information about Flipnote Hatena was expanded, it would become much more than a subsection. It is okay if readers do not agree; I do not feel it is an urgent issue. However, I would like to see Flipnote Hatena's own article. Happy editing, Squiddaddy (talk) 21:41, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Sudomemo
[edit]Sudomemo is not a third-party app. It's a server that can be accessed with Flipnote Studio, as a replacement to the shut down Flipnote Hatena server. I see it as a notable part of the app's history. Nintendo shuts down the server. Fans open a new one. I can add sources, if that's the primary problem. -Sforzando (talk) 02:40, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Are there third-party reliable sources that show that it's relevant enough to warrant mentioning in the article? - Aoidh (talk) 03:02, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- I suppose not at this point, although it's gathering speed and users. I guess this does fall under "crystal ball," "not yet," etc. I'll wait for a news site article. -Sforzando (talk) 21:47, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
How about now? 4,100 users, 62299 flipnotes, and counting! http://www.sudomemo.net Austinburk (talk) 13:25, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- The number of users is irrelevant for the purpose of inclusion, it's the sourcing that matters. - Aoidh (talk) 20:44, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, unfortunately! If you can get a decent Nintendo-based site to cover Sudomemo, then it would warrant a mention. - Sforzando (talk) 15:37, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
Cleanup needed
[edit]Particularly in the "Flipnote Hatena" section, it's pretty garbage there. Also, I think a mention of Miyamoto's Pikmin short films should be mentioned, since Miyamoto used Flipnote Studio to storyboard these films. SOurces are out there and easy to find. Anybody up for doing this? I would but my Wikipedia skills are a little rusty. -Sforzando (talk) 00:13, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
A seperate Page For Homebrew Servers?
[edit]What Do You Guys Think Of A Seperate Page For Homebrew Servers? -Tyler — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:1C0:C001:9697:445E:F765:B0DA:5FB6 (talk) 18:36, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- This has been discussed above. Unless there are third-party reliable sources that show it's relevant to the article, it shouldn't be mentioned here. - Aoidh (talk) 19:41, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

The fourth paragraph of "End of the service" is so bad I can't fix it
[edit]And I quote, "In January 2018, Hatena discontinued for functionality connecting the service, along with custom servers, due to deprecation of Flipnote Hatena. However, only left is login authentication. On April 2, 2018, Hatena discontinued once again following of closure of Flipnote Studio 3D's online services. Which implementing the message that shows the 'service has been discontinued'." No offense to whoever wrote it, but this definitely needs work. I haven't a clue what they're saying.
