Road to GA
[edit]Nice work on this, @Aymatth2! I'd like to help prep this for review and was considering doing some expansion. Do you have any additional sources (or sections of previous sources) that you would suggest revisiting when expanding the article? Relatedly, I was also looking for more info on L'Avenir social, in particular, if you have any source recommendations for greater depth on that topic or Vernet's pedagogy. czar 19:27, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
- I had completely forgotten this article. It is just what I could scrabble together in few hours from sources available four years ago, when I started it to fix a redlink. I really have no views on sources. Aymatth2 (talk) 00:29, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
Source dump
[edit]When Sébastian Faure assembled a team of a hundred collaborators to contribute articles for the Encyclopédie Anarchiste, only two women contributed articles: Madeleine Vernet, who concentrated on pacifist rather than feminist issues, ..."
— Sonn, Richard David (2010). Sex, Violence, and the Avant-garde: Anarchism in Interwar France. Penn State Press. pp. 33–34. ISBN 978-0-271-03663-2.
(But our article says she wrote Mère & Orphelinat?) czar 20:32, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
- I will expand the section on publications. This source gives most of the publications listed, including "Encyclopédie anarchiste, articles : Mère, Orphelinat." I doubt it got that wrong. Possibly Vernet contributed other articles, possibly her slant in the articles on Mère and Orphelinat was more pacifist than feminist, possibly Sonn in incorrect. WiG mini assessment
[edit]Per the request at Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Green/20-Minute Article Assessments.
I can't see any issues that would lead to an immediate fail per WP:GAFAIL (although I've not done a detailed copyvio check, only looked at the top couple of matches from Earwig's Copyvio Detector).
Bearing in mind the the GA criteria:
- No glaring issues with the text. It's likely that a reviewer will request or suggest some improvements.
- Looks like the text should be checked against MOS:SURNAME ("After the initial mention, a person should generally be referred to by surname only"), but it could be there are no issues with that.
- I think the list of publications needs some tweaking to align with WP:BIBLIOGRAPHY.
- Be prepared to answer "What makes 'Dictionnaire international des militants anarchistes' and 'monde-libertaire.net' reliable sources?" (WP:RS)
- The BnF link is dead. I'd suggest running IABot to avoid WP:LINKROT.
- "with about 500 members at time of creation" - seems unusually high, was it really "at creation"?
- "for a while" - if sources allow, add some sort of timescale.
- "See also" should be after "Publications" according to MOS:SECTIONORDER
- The trans-title= parameter could be used for some of the publications/sources.
In the lead:
- "She attacked abuses in the state system of foster homes, where children were often used for their labor." - add how/where she attacked this
- "She was a committed pacifist during World War I (1914–1918), and continued to be involved in pacifist organizations after the war." - would benefit from expansion
Thanks for your work on the article, czar. Hopefully this is of some help, although it's definitely not a full GA review. Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:18, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- I would add that the list of publications is rather long, and I would consider trimming it to well-known ones. Vanamonde (Talk) 04:32, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
