Neutral point of view
[edit]I added an NPOV tag to this article because it seems to be written to advance a point of view ("farce of a trial", for example). I'll try to clean it up to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. I'd welcome anybody else's help. Malik Shabazz 04:43, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed the NPOV template, please use {{POV-section}} or better yet {{POV-statement}} for sentences, then detail issues here. This will help address them in a timely manner. - RoyBoy 22:20, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Plagiarism
[edit]I just noticed that most of this article had been cut and pasted from Ervin's book, Anarchism and the Black Revolution. I'll try to work on fixing the plagiarism problem too. Malik Shabazz 05:02, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Australian Speaking Tour
[edit]Ervin became part of Australian history when the acting Minister for Immigration attempted to deport him in 1997. He was in Australia for less than 4 weeks, but became an embarrassment for the Prime Minister, Immigration Minister and Immigration officials. I have relied primarily on secondary sources - newspaper reports for details. To back these up I have included some primary sources: a website in support of Ervin from 1997, a media release from the Minister, and the Judgment from the Chief justice of the High Court of Australia. --Takver 18:58, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Not sure why the addition of the Australian events cant be edited down. They take up twice the space as the rest of the article! brooklyn_agit 14:30, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Rather than trying to edit down the Australian events, perhaps the rest of Ervin life and important events needs to be properly described with the same diligence in WP:Citing sources according to WP:Verifiability guidelines. Surely someone can track down newspaper reports for events in the USA that Ervin was involved in? --Takver 15:03, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
weighted information
[edit]My question is: why such a focus on Ervin's trip and legal problems in Australia? This should be a footnote or at least delimited to a few lines. It is simply more than is needed to detail this one event in Ervin's history.brooklyn_agit 19:30, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think it's because a couple of Aussie editors added it, and they had lots of sources. It needs to be pruned, because it's practically taken over the article, but it hasn't been a very high priority for me. — Malik Shabazz (Talk | contribs) 22:24, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ervin's trip made news headlines in Australia, including a high profile legal challenge to the cancellation of his visa. His visit became part of Australian history. And yes, it is out of proportion to other events in Ervin's life that have been poorly documented in this article. In Australia I just don't have access to Library resources to write up such events as the plane hijacking which I assume would have been widely reported in US newspapers. The other approach may be to seperate Ervin's trip to Australia as a seperate article and keep this as a biographical article. Comments?--Takver 02:06, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Lorenzo Ervin organized a rally and march held in downtown Nashville on April 26, 2008 to protest the deaths of youths in Tennessee youth detention/group home facilities. He wants to see the Chad facility closed and an investigation and prosecution of those adults responsible for the deaths. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Phikappaphi (talk • contribs) 01:08, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
