I have found a website called Motorsport Memorials for people who were killed competing in any form of transportation, so feel free to make use of this site. Willirennen 18:43 09.02.2006
- The best solution would be a database that can be queried by name, track, competition, vehicle etc, as already provided by the Database of people that perished in motorsports cited above. I doubt Wikipedia can provide such features in the near future. Also, I've added the link to the article itself, too. --Matthead 11:30, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
added some more info
Created a page with basic information named Toru Takahashi. Also added a driver named Famiyasu Sato. More information is needed on these two drivers. James17Australia 04:23, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Fred Brownfield
I have edited the entry on Fred Brownfield to clarify how/where the incident took place. If anyone disagrees, let me know. Bk5545 14:38, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
It is mentioned he was killed while 'chalking the start-line.' It says he was the owner of the National Sprint Tour, and therefore not a racer, maybe he should be taken off the list as he was not racing when he was killed? Let me know if you want to discuss this further, Thanks. James17Australia (talk) 00:14, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
disputed statement
"The Tourist Trophy, which is the world's longest and most dangerous motorbike road race, has claimed the lives of more than 200 riders during its history" http://sport.guardian.co.uk/motorsport/story/0,,2099162,00.html. This would mean that the Isle of Man TT course would surpass Indy as the "most dangerous track." However, I'm not coming up with a list of 200 names, and only 33 or so are listed on List of deaths by motorcycle accidents#Deaths at the Isle of Man TT. Therefore, I'm not ready to make the edits. Twohlford 18:35, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- This bit may need to be cited a bit more as the Indy 500 is purely a car racing course whereas the TT is for bikes, trouble with this statistics is many of these tracks has hosted both car and bike events and does that figure cite either cars or both. As for the TT list, don't worry about it as I am currently working on the standalone list version which will be completed hopefully somewhere by the end of July. Willirennen 20:02, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
How is the list going Willirennen? James17Australia (talk) 00:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- In fact, discovered this, when I was going to put my unfinished list up...List of Snaefell Mountain Course fatal accidents. Willirennen (talk) 20:46, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Formula 2000 and Formula J1600?
I found two drivers on the list, 1 from F2000 and the other from FJ1600. I created seperate sections, Deaths in Formula 2000 and Deaths in Formula J1600 but then decided to merge them and created the section Deaths in other openwheel categories. If anyone disagrees with this decision let me know. Thanks James17Australia (talk) 00:47, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think that category should be called deaths in junior category, that would cover deaths in Formula Ford and junior level fatal accidents. Also I would recommend the F2000 bit there be moved to Formula 2 considering that before it was known as F2 in Japan. Willirennen (talk) 20:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I changed the title to Deaths in junior openwheel categories. James17Australia (talk) 22:54, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Should land speed record attempts be included
Just bringing up the topic if they should be included, because racing is technically trying to beat an opponent or opponents, but in land speed records, people are competing against a 'speed record?' Feel free to discuss. James17Australia 09:22, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
I would say include as they are still classified as racing drivers and racing against time. Willirennen 17:23, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
I was leaning towards including as well but I just wanted feedback. Thanks very much. James17Australia 07:30, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
I would have to agree that Land Speed Records should be included. They are racing for a record speed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.122.167.86 (talk) 10:02, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
1320 Movie A West Coast Story
In 2009, the same year the next “Fast and Furious” movie comes out, the only authentic look at the street racing scene will be released as a full feature length street racing documentary. . The new “street racing documentary” is called “1320 A West Coast Story.” . This documentary has been in the works for over 8 years, and pokes fun at the “Fast and Furious” series, as well as attempting to debunk some other racing myths. . Featuring interviews with the most important figures in automotive history, this street racing documentary will finally shed light on the topic which has never been documented accurately, up until this point. . Please visit the website to learn more and watch the trailer: . 1320movie.com . Or, watch the “1320 movie” trailer on YouTube: . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVrOAw4xGs4—Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.213.132.253 (talk) 15:13, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Carlos Pardo Death
I added Carlos Pardo since he is Registered as a NASCAR Driver in NASCAR Mexico. He died June/14/2009 after a massive crash. Unless someone adds a new section for NASCAR Mexico, then there is no reason not to add him.--Akemi Loli Mokoto (talk) 19:10, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Racin Jason Betwarda
One of if not the pioneer of twin turbo fox body mustangs racing.
BETWARDA, JASON E. - "Racin" Jason Betwarda, of Scarsdale, lost his life doing something that he enjoyed the most, in a tragic accident in June 12, 1999 at the Lebanon Valley Dragway (outside of Albany), while testing his red single turbo 10.5 inch tire "93" LX Coupe. He was preparing for a race at the Maple Grove Race Track in Pennsylvania next week. Jason was one of the founders of the 5.0 movement driving his twin-turbo convertible Mustang to outrageous elapsed times and fans knew that he owned the fastest Mustang on the planet. Memberships include the N.H.R.A, and the N.S.C.A. and the Hot Rod Association. Born in Yonkers on August 19, 1970, Jason was the beloved son of Jack and Jo Anne (Forcelli) Betwarda. He attended Yonkers schools, Iona Prep and attended Pace University for two years. Mr. Betwarda held the position of Vice-President for two family controlled companies in Paterson, NJ, the Wards Ice Cream Company and the Ameriseru Corporation. Survivors include his loving fiance, Anna Roldan and stepdaughter, Janice; and grandmothers Margaret Forcelli and Marie Betwarda. He is also the fond nephew of Peter and Anthony Forcelli; Bill Betwarda; Irene Mallon; Maryanne Falcone and Patricia Profeta. In addition, he is survived by many cousins. His two grandfathers, Peter Forcelli, Sr, and Emmanuel Betwarda, died earlier. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10 am followed by entombment at Ferncliff Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Saint Judeës Childrenës Hospital preferred. "THE SINATRA FAMILY OF FUNERAL HOMES" SINATRA MEMORIAL HOME 601 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers (914)963-5263

Clive Dunfee
Why isn't Clive Dunfee on this list? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.92.105.2 (talk) 21:05, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- Why don't you add him? --Falcadore (talk) 22:59, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Improper naming for CCWS and IRL
Under "Deaths in Champ Car World Series" I see a link that points to "List of Champ Car fatal accidents". CCWS only existed between 2004 and 2008 so the link is inappropriate because it groups deaths for many categories, not just CCWS. If CART and CCWS is what we are looking at then there could be two sections, one for CART and one for CCWS.
Under "Deaths in IRL", I see a link pointing to "List of Indianapolis 500 deaths". "Deaths in IRL" should be properly named "Deaths in IndyCar" and be followed by "List of IndyCar fatal accidents" rather than "List of Indianapolis 500 deaths". ICE77 (talk) 18:30, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Partially tabular
Why is this articlelist partially tabulated? I am going to go through an untabulate this shortly. If the intention is to turn the entire list into a table, then that is best done by composiing it on a user page then replacing the contents rather than by tabulating piecemeal.
Another question: is this article actually going to be improved with by tablular formatting? --Falcadore (talk) 23:24, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
I would LOVE to see this whole table tabulated in one sortable table. It would be a massive reference utility for fans of worldwide motorsport like me. --Senna27 (talk) 07:07, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
This article DEFINITELY needs to be tabular, its too confusing otherwise. Not sure whether or not all the letters need to be combined or not though. SchellZ (talk) 07:13, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Dates
Please be VERY careful of the dates that you enter in the tables. I've found one date that two other sources confirmed was wrong (one source being a Wikipedia page). Also, please list the reference for your date if you enter one. JBrenn (talk) 08:37, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
Dates II
I erred when listing Gerhard Mitter's origin-flag, and it was edited by Nthelp from Nazi-German to German. In fact, Mitter was born in Czech Sudetenland (in Krásná Lípa, and I've corrected it. JBrenn (talk) 00:06, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
What about the case when the crash was not the cause of death?
Denny Hulme died in a racing crash in the Bathurst 1000 race in 1992, but the cause of death was a heart attack, not the crash itself. It would appear that the crash was caused by the heart attack. He made efforts to bring the car under control and avoid a more serious crash, which suggests he was alive at the time of the crash. So he died in a crash, but should he be included, or is it not the intention to include drivers, when the crash itself was not the cause of death? Xagent86 07:26, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
ARCA's Dean Roper (listed) actually died of a heart attack during the race. 80.138.218.187 04:05, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Ronnie Peterson died of embolism during surgery after the crash. He should be commuted from the list.--IViking (talk) 16:11, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Specifically, the title is "driver deaths in motorsports", and not "driver deaths due to crashes", so I'd say regardless of heart attack, stroke, or bee sting allergies, if the driver passed away while racing, they should be included. JBrenn (talk) 03:22, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- How about Tim Birkin? It's not a driving death, but it's caused by motorsport. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:22, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
- I'd agree with the inclusion of him, if it is sourced that the general view is that the "septic arm" killed him, and not the malaria (which wouldn't be a motorsport-caused thing) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 17:38, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
Touring car racing is not rally racing
I see many names, like Marguerite Accarie and Jonel Broscanc, which are said to died in a touring car race on a rally special. Then, I find names like Charles Cabannes and Timothy Cathcart who are said to be death in a rally car raced on a rally special. Really, they all died in the discipline of Rally Racing. Sure Touring car and Rally car are often similar in regulation, dating back to days of group 2 and group 4, but they are not the same discipline and the term people editing that list was discipline and not type of car. 24.85.193.59 (talk) 11:21, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

Stefan Bellof - 1985
Stefan Bellof 1985 World Sportscar Championship why not included? MC12GT1 (talk) 16:58, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

sort by year or by name
any way of sorting the WHOLE thing by year or name .... looking for a particular year is laborious , instead of just clicking sort by year you have to go through and do it 26 (or however many) times . .... this would be useful in order to see the reduction in deaths as time moves to the present day.2.24.147.115 (talk) 06:22, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- I think the only way to sort the whole thing by date would be to merge the individual tables into a single table (which would be very large). But this could be done if there is sufficient support for the idea. DH85868993 (talk) 09:51, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- I like the idea, but I also think that merging into a single table would not be the best solution. For now can I suggest you to serach with your browser "search function"? I mean (ctrl + f). MC12GT1 (talk) 17:05, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
- I personally would like to see the single table (or perhaps an alternate version with it). Using browser search is almost useless if the intent is to actually looka t things on a time scale. If you're looking for a specific year, but if for instance you want to look at deaths "between x and y" or deaths since say 1985, it's virtually impossible to do so. To be completely honest I think a single aggregated list would far outweigh the minor convenience of a somehwat arbitrary alphabetical split. --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 14:45, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
- What about splitting the table NOT by name, but with a chronological split? I mean grouping by year in year. MC12GT1 (talk) 11:00, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
