Edit-warring

[edit]

People have been edit-warring for months over the contents of an infobox in an article that otherwise contains only a single sentence. Seriously? People, if you don't agree on the box, the box goes out, entirely. Then, first, you write an article, with properly sourced content. Then and only then can you start considering re-adding a box. I'm removing the box now and if anybody starts adding back anything whatsoever in the box that is not covered by sourced text in the article, as it should, I'll start blocking rather quickly. Unsourced

[edit]

I think I will start to remove any unsourced sections soon.Slatersteven (talk) 12:19, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Slatersteven: I coincidentally just started a discussion over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military History#Mughal-Sikh Wars (main point being that I doubt whether this article has a valid topic in the first place). You might want to have a look at it! Lennart97 (talk) 12:30, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That is what brought me here.Slatersteven (talk) 12:32, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I didn't realise. Well, I guess we can see what's left of the article after removing unsourced content - probably not much. Lennart97 (talk) 12:35, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Anything linked to another article can be retained, though it might need a rewrite.Slatersteven (talk) 12:37, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sikhwiki isn't going to pass RS is it?GraemeLeggett (talk) 14:48, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, that website is on my long list of unreliable references that I'm slowly working through. Removed. FDW777 (talk) 15:36, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rename and repurpose

[edit]

The AFD was closed as keep, but with a clear consensus that something needs to be done to resolve the article's many issues. I propose the following, which I also suggested at the AFD, and which I will carry out unless there are objections.

  1. Remove all unsourced and unreliably sourced content. This includes all of the prose and leaves us with a list of battles.
  2. Accordingly rename the article to List of battles between Mughals and Sikhs. Unless there's a better title - perhaps "the Mughal Empire" instead of "Mughals"? I don't really see an alternative to "Sikhs". Suggestions are welcome.

Pinging the editors involved in the AFD as well as those involved in the discussion above - @Kashmorwiki, Peterkingiron, MarkH21, Chiro725, Slatersteven, GraemeLeggett, and FDW777:.

Done The list could probably be vastly improved, but I've done what I could. I noticed only today that there also exists List of battles involving the Sikh Empire which has a large overlap with this list. But I'll leave figuring that out for another time. There were 5 battles of anandpur

[edit]

There were 5 battles and there were many sieges on anandpur. CanadianSingh1469 (talk) 19:23, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

rename to mughal - sikh wars?

[edit]

the name is a bit long, and there really is no other wikipedia article talking about the mughal Sikh conflicts. 101.0.57.149 (talk) 12:06, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Then this needs also a rewrite to only be about wars. Slatersteven (talk) 13:27, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Change title

[edit]

Change the title to Mughal-Sikh Wars since sounds more formal 2600:8806:403:5100:E5F1:C2C1:8403:FB1A (talk) 03:20, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What sources refer to the battles, collectively, as the Mughal-Sikh Wars? —C.Fred (talk) 03:22, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Victory

[edit]

It does not matter who won the last battles, as this is a list of many battles. Thus the fact the Sikhs won the last one does not mean they won all of them. So including this in the info box implies they did. Arguyalby the info box is for wars, or individual battles, not a list like this. Slatersteven (talk) 13:43, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Slatersteven please read this book you will learn.about Sikhs and Mughlai wars [1]and Battle of Delhi (1783) was not any small battle Sikh captured Dekhi and And forced Shah Alam to pay tribute Sikhs. Even after Battle of Delhi Sikh The Sikhs continued to fight with the Mughals in which they mostly won.

So they still did not always win, so my point stands. 13:57, 25 January 2023 (UTC)

So We should remove the result section. What do you think? If it's just a list of battles,Slatersteven

Might be best. As I said this info box is for individual events really. Slatersteven (talk) 14:04, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
