[edit]But, it needs to be more complete
Doors?
[edit]What about doors? It seems like a fundamental part to me. How should door, which currently does not mention automobiles or cars at all, segue one to automobile doors, if that's what one is interested in?
So, should the article to be referenced from here be...
- car door
- automobile door
- auto door (ick!)
- Or... ?--SportWagon 21:21, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I see there is a Category:Car_doors.
- And door does mention vehicles.
- --SportWagon 21:39, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- So I actually added Category:Car doors to the list.

Improved
[edit]Random, unferenced article list with no text; violates WP:NOT and duplicates the category of the same name
- Popular topic: see Special:Whatlinkshere/Auto_part. Alphabetically ordered, must be centered only in main parts and it groups articles that are disgrouped in the category name. In any case, is a stub and anybody can improve it. --Altermike 16:02, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Auto parts industry
[edit]Is there an article about the automobile parts industry or automotive accessories? --Mr Accountable (talk) 18:27, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
PROD issues / categories
[edit]The recent proposed deletion got me to checking that all the listed articles were actually in Category:Auto parts. Some were not. But then I found that some of them are in its parent category, Category:Vehicle parts. Obviously not all vehicles are automobiles, so perhaps there's a case for both categories, but there are issues with which one some of the articles are in. And, while we're about this, it should surely be renamed "automobile" rather than the ill-defined abbreviation "auto". – Kieran T (talk) 16:40, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- I still think that the hard-coded list can be replaced by a cat, but as noted there's some editing work to do on the articles within it. I don't see this as insurmountable. Andy Dingley (talk) 17:27, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Andy. Agreed — my comment above is just to highlight that there's a little checking to be done (as always) and a choice to be made about the cats. On balance I'm in favour of losing this article for the hard-coding/maintenance reasons you mention. The only other thing in this article's favour is that it helps people to see the US English / British English differences (with apologies to Canadians, Australians, and others... you get the idea!) The articles on such differences in language are not well signposted for somebody who's here to read about cars, and so the final issue highlighted is that, upon losing this article, perhaps we should scout around to work out if there's a neat way to explain these differences. It's a thorny issue; with increasingly international car models, "sedan" versus "saloon" and "wagon" versus "estate" crop up in lots of articles. – Kieran T (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Quarter panel
[edit]I'm not an expert, but I expected to see quarter panel listed, but I didn't. Is is listed under a different term? Is this a problem? 70.247.160.227 (talk) 00:42, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
=> No you're right, it is not listed. I will add it to the list in the Body section. Maybe this would be good to create a dedicated subsection for all body in white parts...?
Potential Layout Change
[edit]I propose that we change the layout to include only parts that are common on 90% of all currently sold Vehicles worldwide. maybe add an additional section for custom accessories below. This would move things like Trim package and Cowl Screen to name a few in the list. Also maybe a section for historical auto parts including Crank and other components no longer used in vehicles.
buttons on steering wheel
[edit]The DC-BUS article mentions a "clock spring" which sounds very different from the description in the Wikipedia article clock spring.
I came to this "list of auto parts" article hoping to find the name for that part, but I don't see it listed here yet. Is that because "clock spring" is a typo, and the author intended to write some other name for that device? (Perhaps slip ring? But I don't see that listed here, either).
What is the name of the thing in the steering wheel shaft that connects wires from the rotating part (buttons on the steering wheel -- often horn, cruise control, etc.) to non-rotating wires to the rest of the car? --DavidCary (talk) 20:51, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
