List order
[edit]I have tried to move away from alphabetical list to give some indication of relative importance of various prizes. Obviously this is open to opinion and is currently Western-centric, so developing some ground rules might be useful for how to proceed or reorder. Some possible examples: length of history, value of prize, notability of previous winners, difficulty to achieve and so on. --stochata 23:05, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
Can we combine the 'Major', and 'normal' international awards sections? The divison line seems a bit arbitrary to me, and I am not sure it is worthwhile. Thoughts? Miscreant 01:34, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
- It's a good point, Miscreant, but I feel the non-specialist reader could do with some help identifying which are more important, whatever important means. I agree that the boundary between "major" and the rest has to be fuzzy. However, some are clear cut: for example, the winning the AIA Gold Medal demonstrates huge achievement, whilst winning the Emporis Skyscraper Award is certainly not in the same league. I also see that the division is against some Wikipedia philosophy: letting the reader make their own mind up about the importance of one or another award. How easy is this, though, if the list is long (I know it is not long yet!), and includes blogger X's award? Perhaps some information by each might help, but again, how does it help where the award is simply held in high esteem among architects?
- Year first awarded
- Awarding body
- The recognition of the awarding body (e.g., the national institution, or not)
- Prize money
