Nomination vs. Attribution

[edit]

The Grammy Award goes to the primary artist not every individual musician that made a minor contribution. It is very clear that in 2015 the 'Album of the Year' nomination was to Beyoncé for her self-titled album. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's contribution on "Flawless" was more attributing for the use of a speech that she gave at a Ted (conference), of which only a small part was used in the song. She did not make any contribution to the writing or musical performance on the song. The song was only one out of a total of fourteen songs on the album. It is a very tenuous statement to imply that she was the Grammy nominee, when it clearly was Beyoncé. Similarly there is no difference to the minor roles that Wizkid's had on Drake's album Views or Timaya on Morgan Heritage's album, Avrakedabra.Dan arndt (talk) 01:41, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please this article is for Nigerians that have been recognized by reliable sources to have been nominated/won a Grammy. So I ask, are those featured artists Nigerians? - YES. Do we have independent sources to backup their featured role in the nomination? - YES. If you think it is more appropriate to have another table for nominated featured artist, then it is your task to do, since you are the one changing an established pattern. The artiste of interest in this article are the Nigerian nationals, not the international artistes. HandsomeBoy (talk) 09:55, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There are many sources that documents list of Nigerian Grammy award nominees, you will never find any that segregated featured acts from main nominees. Wikipedia content, including lists should be based on what is in multiple reliable sources, which is clearly demonstrated in the current structure of the article.HandsomeBoy (talk) 20:50, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The issue is that the Grammy nomination is clearly made to the artist who’s album/song it is, not to a artist, who has only made a minor contribution to the recording. To state that the award or nomination is to the minor artist is highly misleading and extremely tenuous. As indicated when a small section of a speech is sampled on one song out of a fourteen song album does not mean that the Grammy award nomination went to that individual it went to the primary artist, who acknowledged the contribution by the other artist - nothing less.
