Semi-protected article proposition

I have noticed that this particular article has to be daily restored from vandalism and bad edits. I think that it would be beneficial to semi-protect the article, considering that the names are still in discussion and that it's an enormous waste of time having to be restoring the page daily. Since most of the vandalism comes from anonymous users instead of registered Wikipedia contributors, a low-level protection would suffice. What do other editors thinks? Jfgslo (talk) 01:58, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

I agree. While unregistered users do have some things to offer, most of them that visit this article simply mess it up to be frank. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 02:03, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I support a semi-protection lock. WP:RFPP is definitely the place to go to for these matters. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:38, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Goten article

{{editsemiprotected}}

Goten real World Content

-In music, the song "Chīsa na Senshi~Goten to Trunks no Theme~" by Shin Oya focuses on both Trunks and Goten.

-Appearnce as Playble character in other video games ( Jump stars series)

-Appearnce in Japenese school supply commercials

Main character

-Majin buu

-Frieza

-Cell

All three of these character have only made one saga appearnces an are main character? wrong Goten has Been through mulitple sagas an actual series through DBZ an DBGT an is a Primary Character of Dragonball series. with more important parts then any of the 3 characters above, an is also the only character in the Dragonball series to be on the cover of dezinshu alone (besides Goku).

Necessery changes

-Goten - Main Article- Being created

-Goten main character- place Goten in Main characters, an remove secondary characters like cell an majinbuu

(Queens Kiid (talk) 15:09, 17 February 2010 (UTC))

no Disagree - It is fine as it is since Cell and Majin Buu would qualify as main characters as they are present in more than one saga each and are involved in the major battles. Also, Goten would qualify as a secondary character since they are not involved in the major battles. However, I won't disagree on a separate on Goten being created. Set Sail For The Seven Seas 277° 16' 45" NET 18:29, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm not seeing any significant coverage by reliable third-party sources being put forward, which any stand-alone character article must have. Being a main or secondary character is does not grant notability to a characters. Pointing to other articles, which have established their character's notability, is unpersuasive. And repeated appearances within the same franchise is irrelevant. —Farix (t | c) 19:04, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

response

Hes been in far more then enough major battles

Major battles

Goten vs Trunks

Gotenks vs majinbuu

Goten vs Baby

Goten vs Super 17

Goten vs Omega shenron

Goten & Trunks vs abu & Kado

Goten vs Gohan

That is 7 major battles far more then Majin buu, cell an frieza maybe even put together. The real world content if what you want is proof as to what i posted i be glad to post it, in if the case is that these arnt reliable or good then why do you have a trunks seperate article were he has about just as much real world content as Goten. Ive proven more then enough for him to be a main character an supplied enough real world content for a a seperate article for Goten.

(Queens Kiid (talk) 15:09, 17 February 2010 (UTC))
As I said, all of that is irrelevant without coverage from reliable third-party sources. When it comes to fictional characters, significant coverage by reliable third-party sources is the standard by which we base the character's inclusion on. The character's role in the plot doesn't make them notable, the existence of other character articles doesn't make the character notable, and have appearances in other parts of the franchise does not make the character notable either. So far you have presented any coverage by third party sources. —Farix (t | c) 20:20, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Goten may not be the main character of the show but he is one of the main characters on the show with more importance that any of the villans placed in the main characters section

-7 major battles

-multiple very important movie roles

-relationship with main character Goku

-with out this character the dragonball story would have ended ealier (showin his importance)

-In more episodes an important roles then any of the 3 villans posted above

This show he is not a secondary character, He is a main character.

(Queens Kiid (talk) 15:10, 17 February 2010 (UTC))

The main characters are the character that are the primary focus of the series. Goten is not among these characters. I would also state that many of the antagonists are also not "main characters" either as the series moves from one main antagonist to another antagonist throughout its run. This may be a series where it is better to organize the characters as either protagonists, antagonists, and supporting/secondary characters. —Farix (t | c) 21:27, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

he is a primary focus character i the show their are countless times the show focuses on him do you want me to poin it out, the only main character to the show is Goku but just like Trunks Gohan vegeta an piccolo goten is a primary character an to put him in the secondary character is wrong.

(Queens Kiid (talk) 15:09, 17 February 2010 (UTC))

so lets add him to the main characters section.

(Queens Kiid (talk) 15:09, 17 February 2010 (UTC))

Here DBZ focus an Goten's Importantce to the show

Imortance in the show, Primary focus to the show (roles, ect)

far beyond a secondary character an more imprtant roles an importance to the show then some main character places in the MC section

-Majin buu saga plays a big role Very important role in the saga

-Bio Broly the movie focuses on Goten an Trunks as the stars

-Broly the second coming the movie focuses on Goten an Trunks as the stars

-Baby Saga shows a Large importance of Goten in the saga

-Super 17 saga all main character hero go face up against Super 17, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten and Trunks

-Shadow dragon saga saving Goku's life an Facing Omega shenron alone with the other main characters Vegeta, Gohan and Trunks

-on the Cover of the DBZ dezenshuu only other DBZ character besides goku to be on the cover solo

- The DBZ movies Speacial Yo son Goku and is friends return Goten Stars as the star of the movie along with trunks to the movie

-In the end of DBZ final edisodes in the final tournament of DBZ all the main characters join the tournament, Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Majin buu

-World martial arts tournament saga Takes Goten an Trunks as the star all the way up to their final battle in the tournament

- Fusion reborn movie all main characters take on villans from hell Goten, Trunks, Vegeta, an Goku

- DBZ movie wrath of the dragon All main character face hirudagon, Goku, vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks

-Baby saga all main character team up to take down Baby great ape, Goku, Gohan, Goten and Trunks

i belive that is proof indicating that Goten is a Main character to the anime an importance to the show. thats more then enough an even more then most main characters in the main character section, not by battles but by importance like i shown.

Section for Frieza's henchmen

I would like to propose that a section be made for Dodoria and Cui. If not atleast one titled Frieza's Henchmen explaining all of Frieza's other henchmen such as Dodoria and Cui. I think that Zarbon should be merged into it as well. It seems very unbalanced how Zarbon has an entire section but no information on Dodoria or Cui are on this list. - SuperTiencha (talk) 20:50, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Launch and other characters

My apologies for restoring sections before I read the talk page. I see now there was extensive discussion on the matter. I agree with many of the rationales. However, I disagree strongly with the removal of the Launch section. In the above discussion, I do not see a consensus for deletion. Rather, I see two merges and two keeps, with only two for deletion. In most discussions, this would equal "no consensus" since the majority of participants want the material kept in some way. Only two thought it should be deleted, which is the consensus that whoever did the counting used. I would like to air my support for the section since she was a secondary character throughout much of Dragon Ball and even makes major contributions to the story at certain points.

Also, rather than outright deleting certain of these sections, couldn't some of them be merged to other related characters? Example: Fortuneteller Baba to Roshi since they were siblings, or Marron to Krillin since they were father/daughter? Redfarmer (talk) 14:45, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

I agree with keeping Launch as well but I think we should also keep Fortuneteller Baba, Mercenary Tao, Raditz, Nappa & Dodoria since they have had a recurring roles. Plus there are characters that are kept on that list that aren't even as significant. - SuperTiencha —Preceding undated comment added 20:40, 29 September 2010 (UTC).
Agreed. The problem with deleting characters from a list of characters is you're really making a subjective judgment call on who is most significant. If the list had become too long, the solution was to break it up into multiple articles rather than delete information. Maybe that's what we should do: restore previous sections and break them up into new articles, such as List of Dragon Ball adversaries. Redfarmer (talk) 08:33, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
There's not gonna be any of this. It's been discussed, and the last consensus ended in keeping this characters out. A new consensus would have to take effect... Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 01:05, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
...That's what a discussion like this is for, and so far, myself and one other person are in favor of restructuring in some way. As I said before, the ideal solution most of the time is to break up the list into smaller lists rather than delete information, although, as I said, other characters, such as Marron, could be merged into existing articles. Redfarmer (talk) 02:25, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm with Redfarmer about restructing in some way. We could have two seperate articles for character lists, one for the protagonists and one for the antagonists. With that we can fit in some of the other essential characters that got knocked off the list. - SuperTiencha (talk) 21:30, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Disagree. They aren't that relevant enough to warrant a second extra section. They may have had a relevant participation at some point but, in the whole, they are minor characters. The way the list is now covers enough in my opinion. And I'm with Sesshomaru, this has already been discussed in the past. Also, if you are serious about wanting a discussion about the addition of another character list, bring this discussion to the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga/Dragon Ball because what you are trying to do would essentially go against the consensus of both projects regarding character lists. Jfgslo (talk) 21:44, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Shouldn't Yamcha and Tien Shinhan have their own pages?

I mean, I can understand Chiaotzou and Yajirobe not having their own articles, but Tienshinhan and Yamcha have been major characters since the very beginning of the series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redbird 41 (talkcontribs) 20:10, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

jfgslo, before you edit the page again and list Yamcha and Tien Shinhan as secondary characters. Lets discuss it here. I don't really see how they can be considered secondary characters. Yamcha has had a major role since the very beginnning of the DB series. He is playable in almost all of the games and is featured in every single one of the games. He appears in most of the movies and has a lot of merchandise about him. He has far more panel time then Trunks, Majin Buu, Frieza and Cell. Probably even more panel time then Bulma (who is also a main character) and at least equal panel time as Vegeta and Gohan if we're counting Part 1. He also appeared in the live action movie. Tien introduced flying to the series. He was Goku's main rival and a Saga villain in his own right. Part 1 was split into 5 groups or sagas. The 21st Budokai Saga, Red Ribbon Army Saga, 22nd Budokai Saga, King Piccolo Saga, and the 23rd Budokai or the Piccolo JR Saga. He has probably even had more panel time then Bulma. He appears in 3 of those 5 Saga's and is a Saga villain in his own right. He has had far more panel time then Trunks, Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu. He has had at least equal panel time as Vegeta and Gohan. He appears in many of the movies and is playable in almost every DBZ Video Game, and is playable in every Part 1 video game. He was Goku's main rival for 3 Saga's and was 1 of his main rivals at the beginning of the series along with Piccolo. I could go on about both of them for a much, much, much longer time, but I believe I've proved my point. Now look at what group you've placed them in. You put them in with Piccolo Daimyou, Videl and many other characters that aren't nearly as important and major in thes series. I could also make a case for Master Roshi and Goten being main characters. Yajirobe also belongs in the secondary character list. He's had even more panel time the the 3 DBZ villains and is seen in almost every video game (even though he's not playable in all of the video games). He is also seen in most of the movies (usually on the sidelines just delivering Senzu beans, but he's still there). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redbird 41 (talkcontribs) 22:54, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Once again, I point you out to read Talk:List_of_Dragon_Ball_characters/Archive_2#Moves_from_Main_to_Secondary:_Yamcha.2C_Tien.2C_and_Goten for the current consensus. Your arguments aren't new and they are valid. However, since this was already discussed, in order to make the move you want, first there has to be a new discussion to reach a new consensus. Do not edit the old one because that's an archive and no one is looking at it. Open a new section here that says "Moves from Secondary to Main: Yamcha, Tien" and any other character that you feel deserve to be in the main characters and invite users from WT:ANIME to participate and reach a new consensus. If the consensus is in favor of moving Yamcha and Tien to the main characters section, you can do the move.
Personally, I agree with the original consensus since they became less and less important as the series progressed, contrary to Bulma and Krillin, who kept appearing and having major participation through all the series. But this is only my opinion. Other might disagree and their opinion is as valid as mine. Jfgslo (talk) 23:19, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

I posted this before reading your note. However, I must disagree with you on Tien and Yamcha not being considered main characters because they became less important in the Buu Saga (everyone that wasn't a Saiyan became minor in the Buu Saga even Piccolo). Also if you are referring to them only having a few cameo's in GT, then that means that Vegeta, and Gohan are secondary characters because they were completely absent during Part 1. And that Trunks is even more minor for appearing only half way into DBZ (if we're considering Future Trunks and Trunks as one in the same and if we aren't counting them as 1 character then he was only present for 1 saga). They were saying that Tien and Yamch lost importance at the begging of the Piccolo Daimyou Saga which isn't true. They both lost importance in the Buu Saga, and Tien was more important in Dragon Ball then any character other then Goku and Piccolo in the last 3 Part 1 Saga's. I could go on, but I'm moving the discussion to the other page. Thank you for the help.

You shouldn't open a discussion in that section. It's an archive, kept for historical purposes not for new discussions. Allow me to help you with this. Jfgslo (talk) 02:48, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

No wonder no one was responding to my posts. Thank you very much. This is the first time I've tried to get a new article created so it's kind of hard and confusing for me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.3.177.193 (talk) 02:50, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes. Any future change gets registered here and the consensus gets archived to reflect that it's as the new one instead of the old. This also allows people not part of WT:ANIME but that follow this article to participate in the new consensus. Jfgslo (talk) 05:29, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Moves from Secondary to Main: Yamcha, Tien and Yajirobe

Redbird 41 is proposing to move from current secondary character status to main character status since he considers that they have a relevant participation through all the series:

There was a previous consensus that determined to handle these characters as secondary characters (you can read it here.) So, in order to do the move, we need a new consensus to determine if these characters are main or secondary. Please share your arguments in favor or against it using this format:

  • Support - Arguments in favor of the move
  • Against - Arguments in favor of the move
  • Comment- Anything not related to the other

Please share your thought on this topic to reach a new consensus. Jfgslo (talk) 03:06, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

  • Strongly Support - I thought I'd just get the ball rolling. Tien and Yamcha have had longstanding and very important rolls in this series. Tien introduced flight, stopped Buu from killing Hercule and Dende, held back Semi-Perfect Cell, saved Young Goku from being killed by King Piccolo using Bukujutsu and many other things in this series. He introduced flight, taiyoken, multi-form technique and a whole bunch of other moves that other characters would later learn to save their own skins. And even after the Android Saga where he isolates himself he is mentioned so frequently and the manga still shows him so much that it's as if he wasn't isolating himself. For about half of Dragon Ball he was Goku's major rival and was still one of Goku's 2 major competitors and rivals in Early Dragon Ball Z. Yamcha has been in the series since the very begging of Dragon Ball and has been featured very frequently. He was the one who figured out that android 19 and DR. Gero were stealing away Ki energy, who managed to cut off Goku's tail in the first Saga, saved Bulma, Goku and Oolong in the first Saga and he has done a lot more things in this series. You could make an argument that both of these characters were dropped right after the Buu Saga, but everyone else that wasn't a Saiyan was dropped then too. Even Piccolo became useless in a brawl. Yajirobe, Yamcha and Tien have been in almost every game as a playable character (and the rest of them they are NPC's). They are in plenty of Dragon Ball movies, and have been in the story since early (for Yamcha) or mid (for Tien Shinhan and Yajirobe) Dragon Ball. These are just some of the many reasons (and believe me when I say that there is more) why I believe that Tien Shinhan and Yamcha deserve to be moved up to the Main Character Section and be given their own articles. And that Yajirobe should be moved up to the Secondary Characters Section. And sorry for the extremely long post (the length of this post is why I didn't post the rest of my points).--174.3.177.193 (talk) 20:38, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Do you know why no one is posting their own oppinions on the topic below. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.3.177.193 (talk) 18:19, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Because most editors either believe that the current consensus does not need to be changed, are busy with topics that they consider more relevant or they prefer to wait more responses to share their opinion based on what others comment. Don't expect to have quick answers if a topic is not controversial. Since this is merely moving characters from one section to another, not deleting them, editors probably will wait to see arguments in favor or against the move. Just wait 5 more days. If no more responses are sent in, ask in the Dragon Ball work group if it's okay to do the move, because the former consensus was not a strong one and at the moment no else seems to care much about where to put those characters. Jfgslo (talk) 18:34, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Okay. And thanks again for all the help. I really do appreciate it.--174.3.177.193 (talk) 22:26, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

No one is answering my message on the Dragon Ball Work Group page either.:(174.3.177.193 (talk) 07:04, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

I would recommend you to wait longer. But if you want to make the move and since it's only moving the characters from one place to another without adding extra text, I won't oppose. That doesn't mean that any other editor cannot revert the moves because the previous consensus is still in place. Jfgslo (talk) 14:24, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

OK. Thanks again.174.3.177.193 (talk) 23:21, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

  • Strongly Support - I agree with Redbird41. These two characters have been major throughout the entire series. Yajirobe is more of a supporting character, like Redbird41 sais, but he's still important enough to be considered and placed in the Secondary characters section. From playing Major Villains, to becoming some of the main characters closest friends, these characters make appearances in almost every thing in the Dragon Ball Franchise. To be honest, these characters need their own articles.STFX1046190 (talk) 23:25, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Popo

I'm just wondering why Mr. Popo isn't included in the list. I know there are a lot of characters in Dragon Ball but it's not like he's a one-shot character. He's been in the series since Goku met Kami way back in Dragon Ball. Is it because some people consider him racist? Mr. Popo isn't racist, he's a genie. Yurochka (talk) 01:05, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Nope, that was no the cause. Last year there was a discussion to determine which characters were notable enough to be on this list and Mr. Popo was one of the many that didn't make it. Check here to check the discussion. Talk:List_of_Dragon_Ball_characters/Archive_2#Mr._Popo. Jfgslo (talk) 05:54, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

I would honestly support Mr. Popo getting his own section. He has played an important enough roll in the series and has made frequent appearances. He trained Goku and the other Z-Fighters, he helped them get to Namek, told them about the chamber of space and time etc. He should at least be mentioned in the "secondary" or other "section" if you were to ask me.174.3.177.193 (talk) 07:03, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Solo Articles?

Why are they all being deleted? Cell, Buu, Tien, Yamcha, and now even Bulma? Why is it necessary? They've had important roles in the series, and yet the number of characters articles has already been reduced to 7. They could have great reception sections? Why is it that all of these articles are being deleted? I look at Naruto and they have, like 12 or so articles for their characters individually. I'd just think that a more influential and long-running manga like DB could have the same. I think that, at the very least these five should get their own articles back.STFX1046190 (talk) 19:29, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

If you feel that there are enough third-party reliable sources where those characters are covered in detail in a non-trivial way, feel free to create an article for these characters. Bear in mind, though, that a fictional character's notability is not related to its role in a series, but to it's real world context, critical reception and cultural impact. None of these characters have shown any of that so far and that is why they do not have an article. For example, look at the reception section of Kakashi Hatake, or, better yet, Superman. If you can actually demonstrate with references that this is the case with these Dragon Ball characters, go ahead and create articles for them. Remember that this is an encyclopedia, not a fansite. Be warned that those articles will be quickly deleted if notability is not shown with references to reliable third-party sources. Jfgslo (talk) 22:08, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Yes. I understand. I'm quite sure that most of these characters can have reception sections similar in size to Kakashi Hatake, and some of them can have bigger. However, Superman isn't a good example. He goes far beyond what most animes can reach in terms of cultural impact and reception. I'm well aware that it's not a fansite, but these characters are major at the very least and I feel that they deserve articles. Why was Bulma's article deleted? Didn't she have a reception section?STFX1046190 (talk) 00:38, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
On the contrary, Superman is the perfect example of a fictional character's notability. Other characters' notability is dependent of the impact of their series, which regularly makes that reliable third-party sources used in an article to support a character's notability end up being about the series, not the characters. Kakashi Hatake is barely scratching notability by itself because, if you check the references in the reliable section, you will note that most of them are anime/manga related publications about the series that have some mention about the character but that barely touch the fictional character. It is not the size of the reception section that matters, but the quality of the references used.
In other words, even if characters are notable within a certain fanbase, such as anime/manga fans, that doesn't mean that they are culturally relevant or notable. For example, Harry Potter is easily recognized even by people who are not fans of the series. In Dragon Ball, Goku is similarly recognizable and I'm positive that he as recognizable as Superman in Japan. But I doubt that's the case with Tien or Yamcha. And no, as far as I remember, none of these characters had a reception section, or at least a reception section which was properly supported with third-party references. Jfgslo (talk) 17:57, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
What I'm saying is that we shouldn't compare them to Superman because he goes above and beyond what any anime character has ever achieved in regards to notability. While Tien and Yamcha are probably not as recognizable as Goku or Superman in Japan, neither are Krillin, Gohan, Trunks and the rest.STFX1046190 (talk) 20:19, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
True, but, contrary to Tien and Yamcha, Piccolo, Son Gohan, Vegeta, Frieza and Trunks are recognizable enough to have enough reliable third-party references to justify their notability by themselves without depending on their importance in the Dragon Ball plot, similarly to Kakashi Hatake. While perhaps Bulma might be able to have enough sources to support her notability, I do not believe that any of the other characters has it. It doesn't matter their importance related to the plot, but their cultural impact in a real-world context and their individual notability. Even if it's not close to what Superman has, their notability must be enough to provide independent third-party sources for the individual characters. It is up to an editor that creates such an article to prove it and, so far, no one has been close to achieving it. And I repeat, article size has nothing to do with notability. Superman is a better example than Kakashi Hatake because Superman is a featured article, which is what all fictional character articles should be potentially able to achieve. Jfgslo (talk) 22:15, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
I know all of that. And I've already started gathering references. How many should I have for each?STFX1046190 (talk) 06:29, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
That depends on the quality of the sources. Let's say that you only two independent sources for Bulma, but those two sources come from academic or respected publications or from well known critics, and these two sources are devoted exclusively to discuss the influence of the character or to analyze it within a real-world context. That would be enough. But if sources are like the ones in Kakashi Hatake, in which none is actually dedicated to discuss the character's influence, you will probably need around 20 reliable sources and they should not be trivial mentions because otherwise they are not valid for the WP:GNG. Jfgslo (talk) 15:31, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Tien has received both praise and criticism. D. F. Smith of IGN.com remarked upon the “strange-ness” of Tien and Chiaoutzous partnership. He also praised Tien’s change from being “slightly villainous” to taking an “entertaining crack at Piccolo before Goku comes back on the scene.” Theron Martin of ANN praised Tien’s fight with Goku at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, saying that it was “the most dramatic and intense duel to date in the series” despite “overplaying a cheating card.” Theron Martin also remarks that it was fun to see the “ground work being laid” for Tien’s change in Dragon Ball DVD Season 3. On the other hand, Chris Beveridge of mania.com remarked that upon Tien’s earliest appearance he didn’t have the “slightest interest” in the character. He goes on to remark that the fight between Goku and Tenshinhan was “really quite good.” He also went on to remark that despite his “one dimensional” personality upon his first appearance, “he does become a much more interesting character because he becomes influenced by Muten Roshi and what he wants to teach him.” He finished by expressing his disappointment that Tien didn’t have a very “strong story” after Dragon Ball. Tien has appeared in many forms of Dragon Ball merchandise including T-Shirts, books, key-chains, action-figures, and posters. Yoshihiro Togashi remarked that he drew influence from Tien’s techniques for his works.
I have the references too. I also found plenty of information for Bulma, Yamcha, Cell, Buu, and even Master Roshi and Goten. Is this good enough?STFX1046190 (talk) 03:44, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
I cannot know for sure until I read the sources but, from what you describe, it seems to lack a little on WP:PLOT, specifically regarding real-world context. This problem is also present in Kakashi Hatake so perhaps it is not that big a problem. If you would like to make sure, you can create a draft at Help:Userspace draft, but if you are confident that the WP:GNG and WP:PLOT are clearly fulfilled with the references that you have, then go ahead and create the article. As long as it demonstrates potential to fulfill those two points, it can be kept and improved later. What I suggest you to do is that you first create the article for Tien and, once you complete it, present it at WT:ANIME to request comments about the notability. If the feedback is positive, then create the other articles based on the experience of the first article. Jfgslo (talk) 00:17, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
Alright then. Thanks again for all of your help. I have references for everything I put in the notability section. I looked at other anime character reception sections and I noticed that they generally use IGN, Mania.com, and ANN so thats what I used for his article. I also saw them mentioned on ThemAnime. I kind of felt that way too. Tell me, if I found a book that mentioned Tien or any of the other Dragon Ball characters, would that help improve the notability section?STFX1046190 (talk) 00:26, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

I have incubated Bulma. I hope this helps if you feel like cleaning it up and expanding it. ;) Jhenderson 777 00:26, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. I was honestly working on Master Roshi and Yamcha's reception articles, but Bulma's fine too. With any luch, it should be up by the end of the week. I'll still have to add to it from time to time. Getting things sorted out with the references set up is taking a long time. But if you don't mind, can you add pictures? I still have trouble with that myself.STFX1046190 (talk) 00:37, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
A fair use image can not be on a incubator or a userspace draft so I will wait when it comes out on the article. I even had to hide the category until the it comes out as a real article. :) Jhenderson 777 00:41, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
@STFX1046190: It depends on what the text of the book is about. Let's say, for example, that a book said something like "Dragon Ball Z has been emulated by several other series and it represents a paragon in the history of Japanese animation. The series deals with the adventures of Goku and several of his friends, like Tien, a character with a third-eye." This shows reception and significance for Dragon Ball Z but not for Tien since Tien is not treated in detail and the text about him is merely a trivial mention. But if the source said something like "Tien's role in the series, a simple human among god-like beings, has inspired the creation of several similar characters and represents a metaphor and cultural icon of anime for the 1990s" it would of course improve the reception section (notability is not supposed to be a section, it just needs to be shown with sources.) The important thing is that the book talks about Tien as a character, not as part of the plot, that he is addressed in detail, not passing mentions, and that he, not the series, receives analysis or critical commentary that separates him from the plot. Same thing with other fictional characters. Jfgslo (talk) 01:00, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Official Yū Yū Hakusho Who's Who Underworld Character Book

And there's more. I'll post the rest some time in the next few days.STFX1046190 (talk) 03:24, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Official Yū Yū Hakusho Who's Who Underworld Character Book is not an acceptable source for notability because it is a tertiary source, and per the WP:GNG, for notability purposes, it should be secondary sources, as those provide the most objective evidence of notability. So, if this is the book that you wanted to cite, you must be careful when quoting it because it is not a book that reviews or analyzes the works, it is only a compendium of information and most likely will not be very useful for notability purposes.
Regarding the other links, Mania and Anime News Network do seem to provide good context for Tien, although this could be open for interpretation since the topic of the reviews is Dragon Ball Z, not Tien. But the mentions I read about Tien seem to mention him in some detail so they could be useful. IGN doesn't really mention Tien in detail so I would say that source would not be too useful. The Bonanza link is useless for notability purposes because it is not merchandise of Tien, but a card from a Dragon Ball Z set. I would recommend you to find other publishers like Mania and Anime News Network, because these type of reviews are the ones that give more reception and significance but, for notability purposes, several references from the same publisher/author count as one. For some editors, these ones already show notability beyond merely plot for Tien, but I would suggest at least two more of this caliber. Jfgslo (talk) 15:05, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
Do you know of any other sites like Mania and ANN that I can use? STFX1046190 (talk) 04:09, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
IGN is a good alternative if Tien is mentioned in detail instead of a passing mention. THEM Anime Reviews is also a very good alternative. Active anime also does reviews, although I do not know if they keep online archives of their old reviews.
I recommend to look at any of the reliable sources established by WikiProject Anime and manga:
All of them have been reviewed by the project to ensure that they can be used. It would be a matter of looking if any of them mentions Tien in detail. I have included the printed sources in case you have access to them. Jfgslo (talk) 14:40, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

It was taken down because it didn't have a reception section. Hopefully I should have all of them up and running again by the end of June. I'm working towards bringing back Tien, Yamcha, Bulma, Roshi's, Goten's, Cell's, and Buu's articles.STFX1046190 (talk) 03:46, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

characters that need sections

Ok I know that one of you guys is going to tell me to look at this discussion about how it was decided why those characters were taken off, but that was a long time ago and I strongly disagree with a lot of the decisions made in that section. I personally think that a few of those characters deserve sections and that we should have a revote on some of those because there is a bunch of redirects of those characters linking to this article but they aren't even mentioned anywhere in this article. In case anybody is wondering I nominate Launch/Lunch, Mercenary Tao, Fortuneteller Baba, Korin, Raditz and Nappa to have sections because they are infact notable enough. - SuperTiencha (talk) 04:16, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Try to gather support from more editors that agree with your arguments (I suggest at least three more) at WT:ANIME and then the old consensus can be replaced by a new one. Until then, you can try to create a draft where you can provide reliable secondary sources that treat the fictional characters in detail to show that they have notability and therefore should be mentioned in this article. Jfgslo (talk) 02:35, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Launch

Resolved
 – Launch is to be re-added to the article.

Where's Launch? She was a supporting character in Dragon Ball. She helped Goku find the Red Ribbon Army's HQ. Plus, she dated and cohabited with Tienshin Han. She appeared in Dragon Ball Z and Toriyama's manga Dr. Slump. She also appeared in the Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! and in two Dragon Ball movies. Carl Francis (talk) 11:12, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I agree Launch was part of the main supporting cast in Dragon Ball and had unique traits about her. She deserves to have a section on this list. If Puar gets to be on this list than Launch should definitely be here she is more significant than puar. Also let me correct that Launch didn't appear in the Dr. Slump manga, she appeared in the seventh Dr. Slump film in a non speaking cameo. Also the thing about her and Tien was a one-sided thing where her bad form was attracted to him but he was not interested because he thinks his training is more important. But ya I support Launch getting included on this list. - SuperTiencha (talk) 15:26, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Please read Talk:List of Dragon Ball characters/Archive 2#Deletion of character sections (Part 1, other characters). That is the current consensus for Launch and other minor characters in this article. If you believe that she should be mentioned in the list, please generate a new consensus to override the old one. Jfgslo (talk) 02:29, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Ok then I would like to start a new consensus to give Launch her own section.

  • Support, Launch was part of the main supporting cast through the original Dragon Ball and had unique traits about her. Like I said earlier if Puar gets her own section than Launch definitely should have one. Puar has done less things than Launch does. - SuperTiencha (talk) 14:13, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Support, Launch was one of the 8 main characters in the first series and she at least appears in 11 volumes out of 42 volumes. and i agree with SuperTiencha, if Pa'ur and, in my opinion, Oolong get a section, Launch should get one aswell because in the portion of the series she did appear in she was featured prominently and not in minor Cameos like the other two after their introduction, her role was always revatively the same in that prominent way. Launch has almost the exact same character status as emperor Pilaf: both comedic, both are prominent in dragon ball, etc. so please allow her back in or at least allow me to write her back in because if your a dragon ball/z fan like me you probably felt abit of emptyness when you looked at this article and saw every character from the original group except ms. Launch, thank you for reading this and please lets get her back!!!Launcherpl (talk) 20:32, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Oh yes and a quick question......how many have to agree to this before she can be added back???Launcherpl (talk) 20:37, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

There is not a specific rule in that regard. See WP:CON and WP:CCC. It can even be by giving a solid argument based on Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. As a rule of thumb, I would suggest seven participants, as that was the same amount of editors that participated in the original discussion for Launch. More than seven days have already passed and all editors seem to be in agreement and, since this is not a controversial topic, I would say that there is already a new consensus to include Launch in her own section. That is just my personal opinion, though. Other editors may disagree. Jfgslo (talk) 23:33, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Support: Launch had a recurring presence in the series, and her characteristics and appearances cannot be covered in other characters' section (like i.e. Polunga, Super A-17, etc.) She is as relevant as Puar, Oolong, etc. --LoЯd ۞pεth 01:59, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

expanding Red Ribbon Army section

I see that the Red Ribbon Army section only mentions General Blue and not any of the other operatives. The section needs to atleast mention the existence of the other operatives as they were antagonists to each section of the arc. Muscle Tower for example was a major part of the arc and its existence isn't even mentioned. - SuperTiencha (talk) 19:45, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

Master Roshi

I think that he should be put in the Main Characters section. While it's true that he lost importance in Dragon Ball Z, he was a major character in Dragon Ball. What a lot of people seem to forget is that Dragon Ball Z.174.3.179.212 (talk) 13:13, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Few Characters Unmentioned

Beh - Puppy Boo saved. Bra - Daughter of Vegeta and Bulma. Korin (Karin) - Hermit Cat found on the top of the Korin(Karin) tower that must be climbed who provides Senzu beans. Marron - Daughter of Krillin and #18. Mr. Popo - Dark, turbanned individual that lives with Kami, also the one who maintains the statue of the dragon.

Just mentioning the ones found on the "Main Cast" picture found on the Article but was not mentioned. Other Characters not worth naming:

Brolly - Legendary Super Saiyajin (found only in the movies) Cooler (Coola) - Much stonger Brother of Frieza (found only in the movies) King Cold - Father of Frieza and Cooler. Died in a chapter or two, by Mirai Trunks. Upa - Small Kid who watched his father die, during the time Goku was battling Tao-Pie-Pie(spelling?). His father was the first one to be ressurected by the Dragon Balls in the manga. I don't know his name. Not sure if it was even mentioned in the manga. All I know was he was called "The Brave" as in, Indian Brave. (Chapter 82-87?)

That is all I can remember for now.

There was one big discussion and several after it about reducing the number of minor characters. Some of them were mentioned just in their chapter/episode/movie content as they only made very minor appearances. This isn't suppose to be an exhaustive list, but a comprehensive one of the more significant ones.Jinnai 19:19, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

New Consensus for characters

Hi I would like to start a list of new consensus to add certain characters onto the list to replace the old consensus that was started here. If there are any characters you would want added to the list then feel free to add a section and put your vote. - SuperTiencha (talk) 03:56, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Bardock

Resolved
 – Bardock is to be re-added to the article.
  • Support - Since a second Bardock special is coming out he will now have been the main protagonist to two specials making him just as prominent and Broly and Cooler but slightly more significant. - SuperTiencha (talk) 04:34, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Goku's father, star of two, not one, but two movies. Also, he plays a prominent role as the father of the strongest warrior in the universe and being killed in the Saiyan Massacre at Planet Vegeta, with his famous near last words- "My fate, planet Vegeta's fate, Kakarot's fate..." and then his famous last words "KAKAROT!!!!!!!!" VegetaSaiyan (talk) 02:31, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Broly

Resolved
 – Broly is to be re-added to the article.
  • Support - Being the main antagonist of three films and appearing in more Dragon Ball merchandise than most of the main series characters also simply redirecting Broly to his first film doesn't do enough justice for the character. - SuperTiencha (talk) 00:46, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Oh, damn! I had just added a movie characters section due to your post below, so it is too late, but I doubt that anyone will oppose. If so, I will delete. VegetaSaiyan (talk) 01:08, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Cooler

Resolved
 – Cooler is to be re-added to the article.

Crane Hermit

Resolved
 – Crane Hermit is not notable enough to get his own section and will remain mentioned in sections where it is appropriate.
  • Weak support: If you're going to include characters like Supreme Kai, then maybe you could use the Crane Hermit. You could just note hi m in Tien's section,
  • Oppose - He is fine with his mention in Tao's section since he is not much on his own and most of the same material is already covered in that section. His role is nowhere near the Supreme Kai's role who was a major supporting character throughout the longest and final story arc of the series. - SuperTiencha (talk) 05:40, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Dodoria

Unresolved
  • Weak support: He was the one to reveal the truth of Planet Vegeta to Vegeta, was the first to see Vegeta's newfound strength, and helped kill many Saiyans. VegetaSaiyan (talk) 23:26, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Oppose: He is definitely worth mention somewhere. Such as in Zarbon or Frieza's section but even still fitting a mention into their sections seems a bit awkward. His role in the whole Frieza arc doesn't even stand out as close Frieza, Zarbon and the Ginyu Force. Mention is the best that can be done since he isn't much on his own and was only secondary in the first half of Frieza's arc. - SuperTiencha (talk) 01:04, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Fortuneteller Baba

Resolved
 – Fortuneteller Baba is to be re-added to the article.

Korin

Resolved
 – Korin is to be re-added to the article.
  • Support - Trains Goku to beat Tao Pai Pai, gives him the special water to beat Piccolo Daimao, gives him a new Kinto'un, provides the senzu beans which are an important plot device throughout the series, trains Yamucha, Tenshinhan and Chaozu (although off screen), several other reappearances. Xfansd (talk) 23:44, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
  • weak support - I'm not to enthuastic about adding him as he isn't very prominent and never really had any sort of prominent role throughout any saga and is always generally alongside somebody else. All he has really going for him is that he is one of the main recurring allies, has trained many of the protagonists and is their main source for the Senzu Beans and that he made an outside of Dragon Ball appearance in the 7th Dr. Slump film. - SuperTiencha (talk) 15:29, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
  • Support- Trains Goku, created Senzu Beans that can heal, calls up the Z Fighters for training, and helped Goku get a new Nimbus. VegetaSaiyan (talk) 00:35, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Mercenary Tao

Resolved
 – Mercenary Tao is to be re-added to the article.
  • Support - One of the few recurring antagonists in the series. He is seperate from the Red Ribbon Army and plays a prominent role in all of his appearances and is even the main antagonist in the alternate retelling film Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure. - SuperTiencha (talk) 03:56, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Weak support - There's plenty of characters in Dragon Ball that play more of a role but aren't listed together; just as a set, such as the Red Ribbon Army members. General Blue plays more of a role than Tao throughout 14 consecutive episodes and is not listed; Tao's inclusion after 6 episodes in the Red saga, and 3 episodes in the final Piccolo saga don't account for more than other characters, but his role is prominent to some extent; I support a mention of him if the other Red Ribbon Army members receive their own sections instead of one section for all of them. - Zarbon (talk) 02:46, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Oppose - we aren't listing General Blue and he's more important.Jinnai 23:55, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Tao may not have been as prominent as Blue during the Red Ribbon Army era but his character is spans past that saga into the Piccolo Jr. saga and even appears in Dragon Ball Z. Plus his assumed death was also a plot device that was used in the Tien Shinhan saga and is the perfect character on this list to represent the Crane School which is one the only missing villain faction in the main series on this list. - KillerZeke (talk) 22:33, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
    • While he appeared later, his role wasn't as important. Being a plot device is also not a valid reason for inclusion in the list, just the specific episodes/volumes.Jinnai 00:27, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Same reasons as those supporting. - Watermaiden15 (talk) 21:21, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Quite an important role (him being the first person to defeat Goku) and repeat appearances. Xfansd (talk) 23:44, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Mr. Popo

Resolved
 – Mr. Popo is to be re-added to the article.

Nappa

Resolved
 – Nappa is to be re-added to the article.
  • Support - He is a major antagonist in the Saiyan Saga, responsible for killing off a few of the main characters and is featured in almost alot of video games. He is more significant than Zarbon is. - SuperTiencha (talk) 03:56, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Although Nappa is greatly prominent in the first saga, he is not more prominent than Zarbon [who has 14 consecutive episodic appearances and a more prominent role in the Bardock movie]. I greatly support Nappa to have his section regardless because of the overall role he plays and the main battle is between this character in the first saga of the series. - Zarbon (talk) 02:46, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Nappa is a major antagonist of the series and his role in the Saiyan arc is important to the plot. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:11, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - same reasons as everyone else. - KillerZeke (talk) 22:33, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Raditz

Resolved
 – Raditz is to be re-added to the article.
  • Support - He is the first antagonist to the Saiyan Saga and plays a significant role in the transition of the plot. He was the main antagonist for an entire manga volume and alone is more notable than almost any of Frieza's minions. He is also featured in a lot of Dragon Ball Z merchandise and appears in almost every video game. - SuperTiencha (talk) 03:56, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Decline - Raditz is only in three episodes in the entire series run. Any other time the character appears is in a very brief flashback. He never plays more of a significant role aside from setting the story in motion in the first saga for the main fight between Nappa and Vegeta. His very brief three episode appearance does not make him even remotely as important as the Ginyu Force (13 episodes), Zarbon (14 episodes), Dodoria (6 episodes), or even Spopovich (7 episodes). He is on par with brief villains such as the Saibamen, Cell Juniors, Yakon and Pui Pui in episodic appearance and overall role. Just because he is in the very beginning of the series doesn't mean he's more important than other villains. - Zarbon (talk) 02:46, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Decline - unimportant background character appearing in one story arc. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:11, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
    • Note: I would like to correct that Zarbon's facts about Raditz are incorrect. Raditz was the antagonist for 5 episodes of not 3. Also Raditz role as an antagonist lasted for an entire manga volume (Dragon Ball vol. 17; AKA DBZ vol. 1) that consisted of 10 entire chapters where he was the antagonist as well as his role being a significant plot device for the Saiyan Saga and his fight being up there as one of the most significant fights in the series.
  • Support - Even though he is pretty minor he is a very well known character and his short-lived role impacted the story significantly and was the leading antagonist to the Vegeta Saga before Vegeta himself comes in. His battle was pretty significant as well since it resulted in Goku's first death. - KillerZeke (talk) 22:33, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Though not in the series for long, his role is important for broadening the series' story (marking the beginning of "Z"), he reveals Goku's heritage (his family relation to him also adds up) and causes his first death. Xfansd (talk) 23:44, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Supreme Kai

Resolved
 – Supreme Kai is to be re-added to the article.
  • Support - There was actually no consensus for this character in general but he was practically a major character in the Buu Saga and kept a recurring role in any of the post Dragon Ball Z media such as Dragon Ball GT. If anything he is just as important as Pan and Uub. - SuperTiencha (talk) 03:56, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Decline - There are plenty of characters who are introduced in the Buu saga (the final debacle) that are more prevalent than Supreme Kai and actually play a huge role. Supreme Kai is never a fighting character nor a secondary character. He merely serves as a plot device for Gohan's ascension toward more power. - Zarbon (talk) 02:46, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Decline - per Zarbon's reasoning. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:11, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Supreme Kai has had a huge role in the Buu Saga. He may have not been a fighting character but he made one contribution after another throughout it. He was involved by constantly being on the side and, informing the heroes about Majin Buu and Babidi's schemes, giving Gohan power through the elder from the Z Sword, giving Goku the Potara Earings and transporting them to his own planet where the final battle of the series took place. - KillerZeke (talk) 22:33, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Support - Quite obviously an important character in the Buu saga and reappears in GT. I would suggest putting him with Kibito and/or a section for all the Kaios. Xfansd (talk) 23:44, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Origins?

I don't understand why some of the characters Japanese names' origins are included, but many others are not. For example, Bulma, Trunks, Briefs, and Bulla are correctly listed as being from Japanese names for undergarments. However, many more are simply not listed.

For example, Gohan and Pan are both from staples, rice (ご飯/ごはん/御飯 - gohan)and bread (パン - pan), respectively. (Note that rice is extremely culturally significant and bread is considered in Japan to be a Western equivalent to rice.) A large number of characters' names are based upon (the Japanese version of) Chinese food: Yamcha, Oolong, and Puar are based upon Chinese teas. Tenshihan is based upon a "Chinese" dish which actually originated in Japan. Vegeta and Kakarot and Launch are loosely based upon the English words, "vegetable," "carrot," and "lunch."

Others are based on musical instruments: Piano and Piccolo, for example.

Some of the characters have more obscure names for Western viewers, but would be immediately recognizable for Japanese viewers. For example Son Goku is from the character of the same name from Journey to the West, which the original DB series is loosely based upon.

Note that all of the above names would be *immediately* recognizable by any Japanese reader of the original manga. It would be like having characters named, "lasagna," and, "linguini," for an American audience, who would be already familiar with Italian food, or at least an American interpretation of it.

Sometimes the characters have just strange names. For example Chichi comes from, "乳," a word loosely translated as, "teats," or, "mammaries," because Toriyama wanted a "womanly" name that relates to cows/oxen. However, most Japanese would think of the more common word, "父," meaning, "Dad," giving it an interesting poke at her tomboyish character.

Others involve swapping of characters, which makes them difficult to understand at first. For example Mark comes from a play in which it's a common foreign (English) name, "Mark," and its kana representation, "maaku," is a swapping of the Japanese characters for, "devil," "aku ma" -> "ma aku" (悪魔→魔悪). Also Bidel is similarly related to Satan, in which it's a swapping of a few characters from the kana representation of the English word, "devil," and given a long vowel "de bi ru" -> "bi de ru" -> "bi i de ru" (デビル→ビデル→ビーデル). This is just an interesting piece of trivia. Relatedly, Kami's Japanese name, "神様" ("kamisama") is typically how Christians refer to the Christian god in Japanese. (Note that this is derived from the Japanese term, "神" ("kami") which refers to the Japanese spirits in Shinto, which have few of the properties attributed to the Christian god.)

Some of the characters have names with no meaning at all, such as Krillin and Mr. Popo.

(Note that most of the information here it taken from obvious observations and the Japanese wikipedia page.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.17.175.171 (talk) 17:00, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

So what do you think? Should the japanese names be kept or disgarded? Do you think they are distracting to the reader?MilkStraw532 (talk) 22:47, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

You can't start that section without a consensus. Also Broly and Cooler are the only characters worth noting on this list since they were recurring. Gogeta isn't even that notable? VegetaSaiyan (talk) 22:34, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Gogeta isn't really another character just a fusion Goku and Vegeta do together. He appears only in movie 12 and near the end of GT. Gotenks is the same general role but was more prominent to the main story and he doesn't have a section. Gogeta probably fits best as a mention in Goku and Vegeta's sections or articles. Same would go with Vegetto. - SuperTiencha (talk) 22:32, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Edit request on 25 March 2012

Please change the "Vegeta description" because at the end of the description, it says he was absorbed by Majin Buu but, he was not. Please change that to this: He was turned into "Majin Vegeta" when the wizard "Babidi" cast a spell on him and awakened the evil in his heart. Then Vegeta fought Goku, and in the end, knocking Goku unconscious and then leaving to go fight Buu. Vegeta tried using his technique where he expels all of his energy to make a huge explosive wave of energy, but unfortunately, in turn, it costs him his life. He is then turned into stone and then he shatters. Vegeta was still technically dead even though he was brought back to Earth to help fight Buu. Vegeta then helps Goku fight Buu by fusing bodies with Goku to form "Vegito". On the Kai planet, Goku once states that if Vegeta were to be defeated while he was dead, he would be wiped from existence. Vegeta is not revived until the middle of the fight between Goku and Buu on the Kai planet. 208.86.56.141 (talk) 20:16, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Character names

Shouldn't all Dragon Ball related articles use the spellings/romanizations of characters' names that are used in Viz's English manga releases instead of the ones used in Funimation's anime dub? Meaning Chaozu instead of "Chiaotzu", Butta instead of "Burter", Lunch instead of "Launch", etc. This is how the YuYu Hakusho, Detective Conan and I think One Piece articles are. She's mentioned in Bulma's section. There is no reason to go into detail about her since she was a very minor character who barely plays no significance other then being related to important characters. - SuperTiencha (talk) 21:28, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Recently added characters

What are other editors thoughts on the characters that User:Animefreak234 recently added, King Vegeta and Dr. Briefs? While they did a decent job of sourcing them, I still don't think the are notable enough to list. They are both minor characters, King Vegeta is also an anime only character (Vegeta's father is briefly mentioned in the manga, but not by name). Xfansd (talk) 03:35, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

The article title is vague. You cannot enforce rules such as "only notable or main characters" when the title doesn't do it. I'd say leave it and include every character you can reliably source. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 08:12, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Both characters aren't important enough to have their own sections. I think Dr. Brief can be mentioned in Bulma and King Vegeta can be mentioned in Vegeta. - SuperTiencha (talk) 21:30, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Just to add my two cents (though I'm not an editor or anything) I don't see why they shouldn't be added. This is a LIST of dragon ball characters after all, not a regular article, so the usual standards of length and 'notability' shouldn't apply as much. Really I think a list should aim to be as comprehensive as possible. After all, where else will people find information on these characters than on this article? Anyway, just my thoughts. Anonymous Zebra (talk) 10:42, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

I agree completely and fought the urge to post such a message earlier this morning. With an article name like "List of Dragon Ball characters" your criteria is: (1) Is the person in Dragon Ball? (2) Can they be sourced/cited? Thanks Jenova20 (email) 11:33, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

It doesn't matter whether the characters are important enough, this article is about 'List of Dragon Ball characters', not 'List of important Dragon Ball characters'. Regardless of how important they are, they should be listed in the article. Also, Dr. Briefs and King Vegeta are the fathers of protagonists and did contribute to story-lines. If only important characters should have sections then why are there separate sections for Oolong and Pu'ar? They're not important enough. Animefreak234 (talk) 13:50, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Oolong and Pu'ar are important enough to have their own sections. They were main characters in the first arc and maintained a recurring presence throughout the whole series and have been been in many of the retellings and 2 out of 3 of the live-action films. The inclusion of Dr. Brief and King Vegeta would mean that everyone who was more important and had more screentime then them would be valid for this list such as Ox-King, Pikkon, Dodoria, Namu, Bora, Upa, Maron, Crane Hermit, Dabura, King Enma and hell even the World Tournament Announcer. - SuperTiencha (talk) 23:15, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
I guess the point we were trying to make is, would there be a problem with adding any of those characters you just mentioned, including Dr. Brief and King Vegeta, to this list? (provided we had enough to say about them, and that that information can be reliably sourced of course). That is to say, sections on these characters not existing is not evidence that they're not notable enough, only that they haven't been written yet. Anonymous Zebra (talk) 18:37, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Well this list used to be very big and had every character thinkable but it got too ridiculous to the point where the users had to take a vote out of which characters to keep or get rid of. The Dragon Ball series already has around 400 characters just in the manga alone. So many characters were gotten rid of and the list was kept to recurring and story important characters. Within' the last 2 years I battled to get Launch, Tao, Raditz, Nappa, Mr. Popo, Supreme Kai and Fortuneteller Baba back on here. At this point all of the really important main and supporting characters are here and the article is a decent size. I fear that the list may get to big again if we keep getting more characters on here. Dr. Brief is an ok candidate to put on this list but there is also the characters I listed previously ("Ox-King, Pikkon, Dodoria, Namu, Bora, Upa, Maron, Crane Hermit, Dabura, King Enma and the World Tournament Announcer") that have the same level importance as he does.

King Vegeta on the other hand is a little too minor. He is only a character that exists in Vegeta's backstory and doesn't actually serve any real importance past that. He doesn't even appear in the manga (he is only mentioned in it) and everything there is to say about him can already be mentioned in a small portion in Vegeta's section. Even characters such as Bra/Bulla, Marron, Spice Boys, King Furry, Giran, Android 8, Suno, Cui, King Cold and Android 19 are more important than King Vegeta is and they don't have sections. If we can format this article a bit better we can probably get more space to give mention to some of these other characters if other users want them added. - SuperTiencha (talk) 21:54, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Are there any guidelines pertaining specifically to something like this? Every single character that appears in the series can be somewhat sourced by referencing the chapters or episodes they appear in, but that doesn't mean we should add them. I support the "only notable characters" should be included process; this is what List of One Piece characters and List of Naruto characters do, the latter being a Wikipedia:Featured lists. Xfansd (talk) 16:12, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
I guess King Vegeta can be removed from the list then, but Dr. Briefs should be kept in the list. Really, I don't know how adding Ox-King, Pikkon, Maron or the World Tournament Announcer is similar to adding Dr. Briefs in the list, they didn't play any role in any of the story-lines. Ox-King is just the father of Chi-Chi who is a secondary character while Pikkon, Maron etc. are really minor characters. On the other hand, Dr. Briefs is the father of Bulma, who is a main character and the longest running Dragon Ball character apart from Goku, I think her father should be in the list. Also, his inventions and Capsule Corp. play an important role in the series. Animefreak234 (talk) 21:54, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Consensus for Keeping or Deleting Dr. Brief and King Vegeta

Ok, let's just resolve this once and for all. We will hold a pole for keeping or deleting these two characters.

King Vegeta

Unresolved
 – King Vegeta's status to remain on the article is still in debate
  • Delete - Simply a backstory character that can be mentioned in Vegeta's section. I already listed like three times a list of many characters that are way more important and have alot more screentime than King Vegeta does that aren't on the article. He has very limited screen time only in flashbacks and didn't impact the series at all other than for Vegeta. - SuperTiencha (talk) 04:56, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Delete - Same reasons as above, is really a minor anime-only character. I don't even think he should be mentioned in Vegeta's "section" but rather only in Vegeta's own article. Xfansd (talk) 00:15, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Keep - They both satisfy the criteria to be included and can easily be cited in secondary sources. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 08:06, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Ya but none of the sources point out that he has any relevance. - SuperTiencha (talk) 23:50, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
They don't need to. He is a Dragon Ball character and can be easily cited. And besides. Notability? He ruled planet Vegeta and is the father of Vegeta, one of the most powerful and notable saiyans. How is that not notable? He is clearly notable. He just didn't feature in many episodes. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 09:14, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
I agree with Jenova20. I don't know how much more notability is required. He was the King of the whole Saiyan race and the father of Vegeta, who is a main character and one of the most popular characters from the series. Plus, King Vegeta was the strongest Saiyan warrior during his time. Just because he didn't have a whole lot of screen time doesn't mean that he isn't notable. Animefreak234 (talk) 08:35, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Keep - Back-story or not King Vegeta did play an important role in the history between the Saiyans and Frieza. Also, the war between the Saiyans and Tuffles. He did have a great impact in those storylines. Animefreak234 (talk) 09:19, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
The Saiyan-Truffle War was just brief backstory only mentioned in the anime and didn't contribute to anything in the main story. - SuperTiencha (talk) 23:50, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Maybe, but it also introduced a character who played a minor part in the animated series and who was the father to a main character. In just the Frieza saga he is notable. When you include every series, he is less notable. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 09:16, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Keep - Per Anonymous Zebra, on Dr. Brief, we can't just throw the baby out with the bathwater. Sure, there were so many characters here at one point, but the answer is not to do a 2013 sequestration on this article. It already worked back in 20whenever. Come on, people. It's not like we're trying to bring back Appule or Cargo. Sasuke9031 (talk) 20:40, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Appule and Cargo are actually more relevant since they have more screen time and were actually part of the main story. - SuperTiencha (talk) 23:50, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Dr. Brief

Resolved
 – Dr. Brief is to be kept to the article.
  • Weak Delete - I do believe he is one of the better candidates for this list than most of the characters who aren't on it. Dragon Ball is a series mainly focused on fighters and fighting while Dr. Brief is not one and only had three roles where he was even remotely important to the story (his introduction in the Red Ribbon Army Saga, fixing Goku's spaceship to go to Namek and Repairing Android 16). His role is simply being Bulma's dad and the head of Capsule Corp. and could probably work fine being mentioned in Bulma's section. Though there is enough about him for there to be a section. I would be ok with the choice of keeping him if everyone else wants to keep him but I personally find that he lacks a little bit of overall importance since he never played a main role in any arc. - SuperTiencha (talk) 04:56, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Delete - I really don't see him as important other than he created the capsules (this is really only "backstory" info), spaceship thing (the actual act of him doing this is very brief) and fixing Android 16. I think just saying in Bulma's section that "she is the daughter of the wealthy scientific genius Dr. Brief" and in 16's section that he and Bulma removed the bomb while repairing him is sufficient. Xfansd (talk)
  • Keep - They both satisfy the criteria to be included and can easily be cited in secondary sources. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 08:06, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Keep - Purely for the sake of obtaining some sort of consensus, I won't vote on King Vegeta (others can vote to keep him if they want) but I think we should keep Dr. Brief. I acknowledge that the article may have become cluttered through having too many characters at one point, but I also think that simply removing valid information from this article isn't the answer. The answer then would be to attempt to structure the article better, readability not even necessarily being an issue (since it's just a list) but simply so that information can be found more easily. As far as whether he warrants a section or not, the simple question is this - is there enough valid information about him that can't simply be added on to Bulma's (and 16's) sections? Since the paragraph written about him is about 10 lines long, I'd say that we can't really do that, at least not without removing a pretty sizeable chunk of this information. Otherwise, if you really want to argue that there's just more worthy characters to write about in this article, then by all means write them. As far as wikipedia guidelines go, the only important thing is that the information is sourced correctly. Anonymous Zebra (talk) 22:28, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Keep - I really think he should be in the list because he's not just Bulma's father but also because his inventions and Capsule Corp. play a significant role in the series. Animefreak234 (talk) 09:19, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

Bra

Bra is the daughter of Vegeta and Bulma, and the younger sister of Trunks. She is a minor character in the series. She first appears in the last episodes of Dragon Ball Z and appears in Dragon Ball GT. She was born shortly after the defeat of Kid Buu. She closely resembles her mother but possesses a personality that is similar to her father's. She shares a close relationship with her family, especially with her father who is protective of her and tends to spoil her. Unlike her brother, Bra is not a fighter, as Vegeta saw no reason to encourage her to train. There is a recurring inconsistency in the series regarding her age and year of her birth, as she appears older than her stated age in GT. In the American dub version, her name is changed to Bulla. Her Japanese voice actor is Hiromi Tsuru, her American dub voice actor is Parisa Fakhri.

Missing some pretty important characters

The article's missing entries on Beerus and Whis. They've been featured in two films and a few games now, and they're going to play major roles in Dragon Ball Super; it seems like a mistake not to give them space in the article. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 14:39, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

@136.181.195.25: The article concerns primarily the characters that made an appearance in the manga and not the anime(s), hence the lack of the so-called filler characters. And since Beerus and Whis only appear in two feature films, they are not listed. They are and will be mentioned in the Dragon Ball Super. ProKro (talk) 15:42, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
But you have a section for anime-only characters, and Super is getting a manga adaptation anyway. And this is the ONLY Dragon Ball character page. Again, why would they not be listed? -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 15:47, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
They are likely to be added once, and only when, the new anime begins airing as per style and not ahead of time. As is, they are feature film only characters. ProKro (talk) 15:51, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Beerus

Beerus (ビルス, Birusu), known as the God of Destruction (破壊神ビルス, Hakaishin Birusu) is the main antagonist in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods who also appears as a supporting character in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. Depicted as an anthropomorphic sphynx cat, [and so on] ...

Whis

Whis (ウイス, Uisu) is a supporting character in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. A tall teal humanoid with pronounced effeminate features, Whis is Beerus' attendant and martial arts master who always accompanies God of Destruction [and so on]...

Can this be added:

Bra (ブラ, Bura) is the sister of Trunks and daughter of Vegeta and Bulma,[ch. 518]as such her genes comes from both humans and Saiyans, making her a half Saiyan and one of the two female Saiyans in the original manga series. She doesn't seem to have any interest in fighting, unlike Pan. She appears as a young child in the last two chapters of the manga and makes some appearances as a young teen in Dragon Ball GT. In the Japanese media she is voiced by Hiromi Tsuru.[1] In the English versions of Dragon Ball Z, her name is changed to Bulla.[2] She is voiced by Cathy Weseluck in the Ocean dub and Megan Woodall in the Funimation dub. In the English versions of Dragon Ball GT, she is voiced by Parisa Fakhri in the Funimation dub.

There's a link from Bulma's page for Bra, but there's no section of her though.HoneyPolly (talk) 18:44, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

Above is the description for a section of Bra in the list of db characters, and I would like for this to be added in either the Secondary characters section or the Other characters section. Move Beerus and Whis from "Anime-Only characters" to "Secondary characters". They were both created by Toriyama and are featured in the Toriyama-written Dragon Ball Super manga, meaning they are not anime-only. 136.181.195.25 (talk) 14:58, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

Gogeta (ゴジータ) is an anime-only character who makes his debut in the 'twelfth' Dragon Ball Z film. He is the resulting fusion of the two highly powerful Saiyans Goku and Vegeta when they perform the Fusion Dance properly. His voice is a dual voice that contains both Goku's and Vegeta's voices. In Fusion Reborn, Gogeta makes an appearance during the end of the movie. After Goku defeats his first form, Janemba transforms into his Super form and becomes too powerful for Goku to defeat. Even with the HELP of the recently deceased Vegeta, he can not kill the demon. So, Goku quickly teaches the Fusion Dance to Vegeta. The Fusion Dance must be performed CORRECTLY to create a very powerful symbiotic warrior, so when Vegeta fails to extend his index finger properly in the final STEP of the dance, this results in a much weaker fusion warrior named Veku(ベクウ, Bekū) .Veku is no match for Janemba, and for thirty minutes he frantically evades the demon's attacks in comical fashion, clumsily stumbling and passing gas as part of his defense. The second time around, and with the ASSISTANCE of Goku's ally Pikkon, the Fusion Dance is performed correctly, and Super Gogeta appears. After an amazing display of speed and power, Gogeta finishes Janemba off with the Stardust Breaker. With the elimination of the negative energy that had created Janemba, the creature reverts into the young ogre, Saike Demon, who ran off in fear after he made eye contact with Gogeta. Gogeta laughs in amusement, watching the boy running off. Later, Goku and Vegeta defuse and BID farewell to each other for the time being.During Dragon Ball GT, when Goku and Vegeta as Super Saiyan 4's could not beat Omega Shenron, Vegeta suggests fusion, with Goku laughing, surprised that Vegeta is the one who SUGGESTED it, hating the idea on previous occasions. With the help of the other Z Fighters distracting Omega, they fused into Gogeta at Super Saiyan 4 to combat Omega Shenron. Having achieved his ultimate potential, Gogeta easily overpowered Omega Shenron and even used his supreme power to gloat and toy with the Shadow Dragon, using attacks solely to humiliate Omega, and afterwards laughing loudly. Gogeta goads Omega into trying to use the Negative Karma Ball to destroy the Earth in desperation. The result of this was Gogeta infusing some of his positive energy into the ball while kicking it out of the atmosphere, turning the ball itself into blue-colored positive energy and creating a nuclear explosion which negated all the negative energy effects of the Shadow Dragons upon the planet. However, because the tremendous power he possessed in this form limited the fusion to an unprecedented ten minutes, this ploy exhausted a little too much time, thus he defused and was unable to finish him off. Omega Shenron was later defeated by Goku's Universal Spirit Bomb.

This marks the last time the Fusion Dance is used between Goku and Vegeta in the series. 72.69.240.248 (talk) 03:53, 9 October 2015 (UTC) He is voiced by both Masako Nozawa and Ryō Horikawa in the japanese and voiced by Sean Schemmel and Christopher R. Sabat in the FUNimation dub.

Not done For a character that apparently appears only twice this is far too detailed, and it's completely unreferenced. The layout also is unsuitable for Wikipedia, though that would be easy to fix. There are also attribution problems because it's apparently copy-pasted from Dragon Ball Wiki and we'd need to credit the original authors of their article. Huon (talk) 12:08, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Dodoria

What about changing Zarbon's section into a "Dodoria and Zarbon" or "Zarbon and Dodoria"? Their roles are very similar and I do not think Zarbon is much more notable than Dodoria to have a section and Dodoria only a couple of mentions in the whole list. --LoЯd ۞pεth 06:02, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

I'd suggest simply adding the character rather than grouping two and more together, as all minor characters would then have to be grouped into more or less ambiguous groups as well. Feel free to add Dodria. ProKro (talk) 12:53, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Jaco & Champa

I believe both of these characters are important enough now to be on this list. Champa is the main focus of the current arc of Dragon Ball Super so he should be in here with small mentions of all the people on his Universe 6 team. While Jaco is on the page for his series, he is becoming more recurring and consistent role in Super as well. I would like to clear with everyone if its ok to add these two. - SuperTiencha (talk) 06:02, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

@SuperTiencha: I see no reason why not – feel free to add as much as you can. Standard procedure, avoid citing DB wikia content or other fan sites as its fancruft, without going into too much unnecessary detail. If it's not a bother, post it here first for a quick review. ProKro (talk) 17:58, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
Shanpa is already there. My only concern with Jaco is his entry here should focus on his roles in the movies and Super while the one at Jaco the Galactic Patrolman focuses exclusively on his own series. We shouldn't have duplicate entries. But this would be unusual, Arale Norimaki and the other Dr. Slump characters who appear in Dragon Ball don't have entries on this page. Name Changes

Bulma's father's name is not Briefs but Brief. The katakana for his name does not have an su in it so it's only Brief not Briefs though the pun on his name is briefs. Baba's "name" should be Uranai Baba and not Baba Uranai. It's just backwards. If you're going to continue to use the Japanese names then the "Ginyu Force" should be changed to Ginyu Special Squadron. I knoq you guys have it there as a literal meaning but it's the name of the squad. I just have to ask how come there's a dash between Kaio and shin. It should just be Kaioshin. In the Baby section, still, since you guys are using Japanese terms, please change Tuffles to Tsufurians. Again in the Baby, section please change Baby-Vegeta to Vegeta Baby because the katakana is ベジータベビー, Bejīta Bebī which means Vegeta Baby, not Baby Vegeta. You wouldn't switch Goku Black to Black Goku so this should work the same. Again in the Baby section, the Dragon Balls are called Dark Dragon Balls, not Black Star Dragon Balls. Again, you guys are using the Japanese terms. Again, Golden Grea Ape should be Gold Great Monkey because the Japanese is 黄金大猿 and it means Gold Great Monkey. Golden is 黄金色 and not 黄金. Monkey is used in Dragon Ball because of Monkey King and Ape has never been used. (Lol) Again in the Baby section it says Blutz Wave Generator when it should be Super Bruits Wave Generator because of (超ブルーツ波発生装置 Chō Burūtsuha Hassei Sōchi). Cooler should be Coola because the katakana is not for cooler but coola. Finally since you guys are still using Japanese terms, please use Evil Dragons and not Shadow Dragons. Please make my request come true DeeBeeZee (talk) 23:04, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

We're not using the Japanese names like you think. We use the names used by the official English publisher, Viz Media. Anything anime-exclusive, stuff from GT and Cooler, uses the Funimation names. Xfansd (talk) 23:29, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

Whis is an angel

So, according to Supreme Kai in episode 63 (of Super), Whis (and by extention Vados) is actually DBZ's version of an angel. Should we mention this as his species? I'd add it myself with references, but the page is locked. 2A02:1812:2C15:B800:E910:1843:5A13:3062 (talk) 11:18, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Adding more Super characters.

I was thinking if maybe some more of Super's more prominent characters could be added here. Such as for example Hit, Jiren, Toppo, Kale, & Caulifla. I mean, they've been pretty popular (and/or divisive) amongst the fandom, have had episodes centered around them, have had major impacts on the story (including some being major rivals), and have been featured prominently in Super's marketing. What do you think? 2A02:1812:2C15:B800:B558:2A40:477D:48C8 (talk) 19:00, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

I agree that more Dragon Ball Super Characters with significant importance need to be included in the article including Caulifla, Kale, Jiren, & Toppo. I will add some sections with citations if their are no suggestions.Mcelite (talk) 23:30, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
For prominent Super characters who should have their own entries, I propose: Cabba, Frost, Mai (present + future), Caulifla, Kale, Jiren, Toppo (the rest of Pride Troopers bar Jiren under his heading), Ribrienne (the other Universe 2 characters under her heading), The Angels (Grand Priest + all the universe counterparts), Gods of Destruction (bar Beerus and Champa) and the Supreme Kais.

Dabura should be added under "Other Characters", and Master Roshi deserves his own wikipedia page at this point especially given his prominent role in the new series and DB films. Hit's entry also needs to be expanded upon. Haleth (talk) 01:41, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

Any character that only appears in a tournament is not important and does not need an entry. This is the reason we don't have entries for Giran, Namu, King Chappa, etc. Xfansd (talk) 02:30, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
That's why we're not suggesting every single character in the ToP, just the ones that have a relative lot of screentime, big impact on the plot (without Jiren, for example, there would not be UI Goku), pretty popular (and/or divisive) amongst the fandom, appearances in other media, (video games, etc.) and have been featured prominently in Super's marketing (Kale, first shown female Super Saiyan, for example). Even if they don't deserve a section of their own, at least give them some sort of mention. Also, a mention of the Grand Priest and a section for the angels in general certainly wouldn't hurt. 2A02:1812:2C07:4600:9C77:3B7:6628:5600 (talk) 10:21, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
On further reflection, perhaps we should start adding prominent characters who debut in the ToP after the English dubbed episodes for that arc start showing up? This is the English language version afterall. Haleth (talk) 15:29, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

ToP characters

So with the Universal Survival arc having started being dubbed, shouldn't we add some of the most important characters from that arc as well? I'd suggest adding sections for at least Caulifla, Kale (& Kefla), Jiren, & Toppo. Not only are they major characters in that arc (with Jiren even being the final boss), but they also have been featured very prominently in marketing materials, appeared in video games, already have dub voice actors, and are either very popular and/or divisive amongst the fandom. 2A02:1812:2C07:4600:A850:633F:51B3:6900 (talk) 21:10, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

I'll be honest, I have no idea why The Blue Demon redirects to this article. There's no mention of it anywhere in the article. Proposed Split for "List of Dragon Ball Super Characters"

Hi everyone. Here's a suggestion I've thought about for a while now. I propose we split the Dragon Ball Super elements of this article out into a separateList of Dragon Ball Super Characters article. Please refer to the statistics for the page's prose size in characters/bytes: [1]

Per WP:SIZERULE, the prose size (a whopping 151.68kb) of this articlemore then meets the split guidelines at recommendation as per WP:SPLIT. Truth be told, it's always good to trim where we can and where it is necessary, but keep in mind that this is a franchise media which, barring the hiatus period in the 2000's which consist of a barrage of video games which have been released, DB Kai which is a remake of the DBZ anime, and a few TV specials/crossovers, has been active since 1984. So, there's only so much we can trim from the list, since DB Super is still ongoing with no signs of stopping, and there's plenty of ongoing coverage for the series from the likes of comicbook.com and others. Furthermore, whatever consensus which have been previously established are now obsolete due to some changes brought on by Super, as these opinions were canvassed during a period of time when it didn't exist. Haleth (talk) 01:40, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

I support this proposal as long as there is a well-sustained and well-referenced Reception section. --LoЯd ۞pεth 22:32, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
