I haven't gotten into the details in reliable sources, but article Sade (singer) gives the impression that the early Grammys were won by her group rather than by her, and I don't know whether anyone would want to argue the relevance of that distinction. But, even so, it also gives the impression that she won one on her own in 2002, which still predates this person's first Grammy. So I don't really know.
