Comments very well written article.

  • Most obvious is the missing plot synopses for episodes 3 to 6 of series 2.
  • Consider merging the single-sentence third lead paragraph with the fourth lead paragraph as they're discussing similar topics.
  • "but they never expressed " no need for second "they" here.
  • "Discussing the casting of Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid..." not sure you need repeat these actors first names since you've already mentioned them above. This seems to happen a few times thereafter.
  • Ditto "actor of Sir Derek Jacobi's calibre" who suddenly has his knighthood included too!
  • "and Paul Copley[14])" ref outside the parenthesis.
  • Ronnie Ancona should be Ronni Ancona.
  • "series began filming in July 2013." presumably by now we know when it stopped filming?
  • "The" in The University of York is not required to be within the wikilink.
  • " an old romantic interest " you mean a former interest?
  • "Ronnia Ancona" see above.
  • "who have lost mobile phone signal" ->"both of whom have no mobile phone signal"?
  • No reason to capitalise Accident and Emergency.
  • "This episode shows, between the end of the episode and the closing credits, a dedication to ..."->"Between the end of the episode and the closing credits, a dedication to ... is shown."
  • Avoid hash to represent number.
  • Graph of viewing figures is okay, but should be enhanced to include series 2, and shouldn't have the "Series1" legend. Also, caption for graph is incomplete sentence so no need for a full stop.
  • "7.480 million" be consistent with the accuracy, and check you have non-breaking spaces between the numbers and the word "million" each time.
  • "In September 2013, the series began airing on the American broadcast television network PBS.[32]" any feedback, viewing figure info?
  • "7.480 million[25])" ref after parenthesis.
  • AfterEllen or After Ellen? Be consistent. And in the prose it's not italicised, but it is italicised in the refs.
  • Daily Mail is usually considered to be not a WP:RS...
  • Huffington Post is The Huffington Post.
  • Ref 25 is missing parameters such as retrieval date.

A few issues to resolve so I'll put it on hold for a week. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:26, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have covered most of the typographical ones, as the nominator appears to be absent at the moment. Keith D (talk) 19:07, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but no synopses have been added for the "missing episodes", suggest those are fixed before this is renominated. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:53, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Episode summaries

[edit]

Would be good to get the episode summaries completed for the last 4 episodes before the GA review is started. Keith D (talk) 00:08, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Out of Date

[edit]

A variety of problems, as I see it, with this article. The "Overview" section is exclusively about the 1st Season. The lede also focuses on that season. With 3 seasons, that is inadequate. I would not characterize the show as a romantic drama. The comedy aspect was a major part of season 1, and much of 2, but seems to have mostly disappeared in season 3. No discussion is made in lede of the daughters issues (with the notable exception of C's coming out): C's difficulty in getting rid of her ex., her son's acceptance, G's alcoholism, her murdering her first (abusive) husband, and the dangerous infatuation with his cop brother, while she is sleeping with Caroline's ex and sundry others. As of 18-July-2015, Season 3 Episode 3 has aired in the US - the lede states the series completed (correctly for the UK, I assume) in February. With G's murdering her husband, then being unable to stay away from his brother (who has done a 180° from blaming her (and suspecting her) to a marriage proposal), John's baby's death, Kate's death, the new relative (a millionaire!), the grandson's parenting problems, Als friend's loss of his boat and home, the series has turned into (imho) a soap opera, and has lost its way. Jumped the Shark. Surely, some of the critics see it that way, too? Yet the article is unfailingly admiring, a non-neutral pov, I think. I also think that John (the ex) has had enough screen time to qualify as a main character. Only other issue I draw attention to is the dubious claim that LGBT characters are underrepresented on TV. Just not true (in the US, that is; so perhaps it is in the U.K.?). I also see no director credited. And supporting cast (kate, the grandsons, the gf, Al's friend, G's fiance should be listed (since they're being killed off (or sent to school), a table of seasons (and episodes) they featured in is most appropriate, imho).216.96.76.54 (talk) 21:53, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. My feeling is that series 1 & 2 were planned together (with their mega happy ending) on the assumption that then the BBC would drop the show after two years, as it did with Lip Service, e.g. Series 3 then came as a surprise, and so they had nothing to say and nowhere to go. Research needs to be done on this to see where the truth lies. Vince Calegon 16:53, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
