Extended Lady Gaga discography?

The early body of work is missing from the discography list. Lady Gaga recorded with her first band, SGBand (The Stefani Germanotta Band) one Demo, (Words) and one EP (Red and Blue).

She recorded other songs, some of which are still available through her early official channels, like her page on PureVolume, i.e. Wonderful/Wunderful. Other recorded songs appear on the fan-compiled Female Intuition album on YouTube.

Should these be included in the discography and song lists? Maladiq (talk) 19:27, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

I don't think so. She recorded when she was just "Stefani". Here is just about "Lady Gaga". ps: I know they are the same person lol GagaNutellatalk 22:41, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
I really can't tell if you are serious or not. In case you are, here are some proposed arguments: The artist formerly known as a symbol formerly known as Prince has all his discography listed, despite any name change. I know Gaga is embarrassed by her early recordings, but I honestly think, as a fan, it is one of her best and most consistent bodies of work. At least a mention should be made to these recordings in her discography article. And anyway, regardless of their actual artistic value, the job of Wikipedia is to be complete, not cater to the wishes of the subjects of its articles.Maladiq (talk) 01:04, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
No because this is for her solo work that was officially released. Unreleased solo material might be worth mentioning on List of songs recorded by Lady Gaga, but it would require better sourcing than the first two links you provided, and the A.V. Club link you gave doesn't seem to be working. Snuggums (talk / edits) 01:32, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Fixed the AVClub link. As wiktionary put it, discography is defined as 1. Complete collection of the releases of a musical act. 2. List of all of the releases of a certain musical act, usually with release dates, and often with other information about the releases. Here are two sources, though the last one is a wikia entry (with pictures which can be reverse searched on Google): Rolling Stones, Wikia.Maladiq (talk) 01:43, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Also found these entries for the albums on the Auction website (entries 419-425), which at least gives titles to those albums. Unfortunately the product descriptions are not on the website anymore, but pictures with track listings are at the wikia link I provided above.Maladiq (talk) 01:49, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
This is all for the discography page which lists official charted singles and recorded songs which she released as Lady Gaga, not as Stefani Germanotta. None of the links you posted are remotely reliable. —IB [ Poke ] 09:31, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

Artpop sale

"has sold more than 758,000 copies to date in the U.S. according to Nielsen Music." I have checked the source and I can't find the current number. Where is the mention of 775? GagaNutellatalk 03:38, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

I have reverted Mymis' edit, as the source only states that the album has sold more than 758,000 copies not 775,000 copies. For a claim like that, we need to find a source that explicitly counts the exact sales. FrB.TG (talk) 06:52, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
And I have reverted yours, Mymis was right when he/she added that sales figure because I also saw it as 775,000 in the original source. Sadly Billboard updated later, it always seemed fishy to me how it sold 18,000 more within two months? 1,000 seemed more likely for this "underperformer". —IB [ Poke ] 08:44, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
Oh, I got it. Thanks for fixing it. GagaNutellatalk 11:35, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Since Jazz has become a niche genre, I think we should point out the chart positions of Cheek to Cheek songs in the Jazz Digital Songs chart. For example, Twenty One Pilots have Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs positions in their Discography page. So here are Gaga's positions in Jazz Digital Songs:

http://www.billboard.com/biz/search/charts?artist=Lady+Gaga&f%5B0%5D=ts_chart_artistname%3ALady+Gaga&f%5B1%5D=itm_field_chart_id%3A1098&f%5B2%5D=ss_bb_type%3Achart_item&type=2

Peaks:

  • The Lady Is A Tramp #1
  • Anything Goes #1
  • I Can't Give You Anything But Love #1
  • I Won't Dance #25
  • Nature Boy #22
  • Lush Life #17
  • It Don't Mean A Thing (if It Ain't Got That Swing) #15
  • Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye #12
  • Cheek to Cheek #5
  • Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) #1
  • Winter Wonderland #1

I hope this is useful :)

Songwriting credits

I think there should be "Songwriting credits" section for the songs written / composed by Lady Gaga that are sang by different artists. Something like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britney_Spears_discography#Songwriting_credits

Here is the list of officially released songs that Gaga wrote:

1. Full Service (Feat. New Edition) - New Kids on the Block [Album "The Block", 2008]

2. Quicksand - Britney Spears (Album "Circus", 2008) [+ Backing vocals for the track.]

3. Fever - Adam Lambert (Album "For Your Entertainment", 2009)

4. Murder My Heart - Michael Bolton (Album "One World One Love", 2009) [+ Backing vocals for the track.]

5. Let Dem Hoes Fight (Feat. Kalenna) - Trina (Album "Amazin'", 2010) [+ Producers credit]

6. Hypnotico - Jennifer Lopez (Album "Love?", 2011) [She also has producers credit on a track called "Invading My Mind"].

Can someone respond to this request? JoDash (talk) 12:59, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
It was long decided that this is not necessary. —IB [ Poke ] 13:01, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
She is getting royalties from these songs. They are her songs. She has written them, they are part of her discography. For example "Quicksand" was written by Lady Gaga & Fernando Garibay, it is their song, Britney is just singing it. JoDash (talk) 13:11, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
Again, she is not renowned as a songwriter unlike some artists like Diane Warren, Bonnie McKee etc, but as a singer/entertainer. This is her discography page not a songography. The same reason that we do not add any damn record chart is the reason we dont need a listing of songs she wrote. She gets royalities and earns money from many other things, does not make them important enough to warrant inclusion. —IB [ Poke ] 14:30, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Worldwide sales of Joanne

I've come across this spreadsheet by the Spanish association of songwriters & musicians that lists Joanne as the 22nd best selling album of the world in 2016 with excess of over 1 million copies. (http://www.anuariossgae.com/anuario2017/frames.HTML) (Found in the section Música Grabada; Table 11, Page 28)

The Top 10 of albums seems to be identical to the numbers IFPI announced in its public record earlier this year, I haven't compared the singles yet. (http://www.ifpi.org/downloads/GMR2017.pdf)

My question is: Is the source of the Spanish report known as a reliable source and can this be added to the discography?
