First Jew to win an electoral vote?
[edit]Why doesn't Barry Goldwater in 1964 count? His father was Jewish which makes ethnically Jewish. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.68.115.211 (talk) 20:34, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
- If you can cite reliable sources disputing the claim, that could potentially be included. Otherwise, you are welcome to contribute at Talk:Who is a Jew?. --RL0919 (talk) 22:23, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Barry Goldwater's page itself references him as "Goldwater was the first candidate of ethnically Jewish heritage to be nominated for President by a major American party (his father was Jewish)." With it's own sources. Although it's blurry who is and who is not a Jew depending on your sect of Judaism, I think it would be fair to refer to Ms. Nathan as the first religious Jew to receive an electoral vote with a note on Goldwater being the first to be ethnically Jewish. --24.68.115.211 (talk) 01:16, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
