Article creation

Moved from User talk:IVORK 01:29, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi! So you sent me a message talking about "Being involved in an edit war" and all that stuff, and I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention at all. In reality, my article, "Park Jimin (musician)" was created (approved) yesterday, however, it was created as a redirect article to the page BTS (band). How can I change that? I tried editing the source and putting the html all over again but after a few hours it went back on being a redirect page. I tried everything, but it still doesn't work... I'm sorry to bother, I'm just new in Wikipedia and this is my first article and I there's a lot of things I still don't know, so I was wondering if maybe you could help me? I really don't know what to do to get my article actually published. User:Cristinaclcardoso 01:17, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

G'day Cristinaclcardoso, I had origionally re-reverted your changes as I was under the impression it didn't meet notability requirements per WP:MUSICBIO and had origionally been made into a re-direct via AfD due to the other edits of experienced users. However now that I have looked further into the article, it was approved for creation by an admin. I'll tag them here and see what the resolution is.
@Vanjagenije, Abdotorg, Snowflake91, and Thebestwinter: Per above fellas, the article was approved for creation by Vanjagenije, are we sure he still doesn't meet notability requirements / the previous AfD remains valid? — IVORK Discuss 01:29, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
I have no idea why the article was approved in the first place seriously especially the sources are horrible. Nothing has changed since the article was deleted. He is still not notable enough to have an own article and nothing on the new approved article has changed, all his work is related to his group activities and everything else is not relevant enough for Wikipedia, just a bunch of guest appearances. If we approve this article we can create an own article for like 90% of K-pop idols. I mean I could be wrong here because an admin has approved this but in my opinion the AfD remains valid.--Thebestwinter (talk) 01:40, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
As of right now, Jimin is not liable for his own article, the one song in his discography is from BTS' Wings, in which all member of the group have their own solo track (none of which were released as singles), as for his filmography all of it is irrelevant per Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Korea/Popular_culture#Eradication_of_variety_show_sections, also just looking at the sources most of them fail WP:KO/RS. Suga (musician) was recently redirected back to the band page for the same lack of individual notability. Abdotorg (talk) 12:13, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

I understand his work is related to the group activities, but you cannot compare Jimin (or any other member of BTS) to other kpop idols, because BTS is the most popular kpop group right now, so therefore the members are as well. Other kpop idols don't need an article for themselves because the group itself is only famous in South Korea. Also, Jimin's popularity is rising really fast these past few months, so I thought it was strange that he still didn't have his own Wikipedia page and decided to make one. He might not be the most famous artist in the world, with tons of solo work, but soon he will be doing more solo things and he'll become and even more popular, and people will want to read his Wikipedia page. Please, if you think the sources are not okay, tell me what should I do to make them better. This is the first article I've ever worked on, and I don't have a lot of experience with it. Tell me what should I do to turn this into an article, because other members of the group have a Wikipedia page, so I don't understand why can't he have one for himself too. @Abdotorg, Snowflake91, and Thebestwinter: — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cristinaclcardoso (talkcontribs) 22:29, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

The reason that bts is "the most popular kpop group" and that other groups are not popular and therefore their members dont need an articles is your own personal opinion, he fails WP:NMUSIC and will not have an article until he do some solo work. Twice is equally popular as bts, yet only one out of nine members have an article, and even that is because of non-musical reasons. Snowflake91 (talk) 08:53, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

It's not a person opinion and it is not even biased, these are facts. What I don't understand is: why my article was approved then? And soon (very soon) he will need a Wikipedia page, so I don't get why he can't have one already. Statistically, they are the most popular group, and therefore a Wikipedia page for the members is demanded by a very large number of people. There's one member of the group (V (entertainer)) who has a Wikipedia page and he has done practically the same amount of solo work as Jimin. What's the difference? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cristinaclcardoso (talkcontribs) 12:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Even if they would be the most popular group on the planet, that doesnt mean they should have separated articles if there is no enough solo coverage. Can you provide some links to reliable sources (not allkpop, soompi, koreaboo etc.), where he is covered in-depth, and not just regular two sentences about his BTS activities? Something like this ? Snowflake91 (talk) 12:31, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Yes, I can. Also, Jimin has a wikipedia page in French, what's the difference between having a page in English or in French? And what about that other BTS member I mentioned, V, why can he have a Wikipedia page since he has done the same amount of solo work as Jimin, and Jimin can't? Even though he doesn't have a lot of solo coverage, popularity matters to some extent, because a lot of people who are interested in him, and not in the group as a whole, demand something such as a Wikipedia page so they can get to know more about him as an artist and as a person. And this is not the end of the career for him, more solo things will come soon. Anyways, thank you for answering, I just want to remind you I've never written an article before, so that's why the sources might not be the best, but I'll work on that and try to improve them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cristinaclcardoso (talkcontribs) 17:41, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

V appears notable due to his appearance as a character and producer for Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. While Jimin does have works, these from what I can tell are just him taking part in music videos and a couple of low level web videos. However as Snowflake91 stated, provide reliable sources that cover him in depth per the example above in order to establish his notability. His popularity in media needs to be current, not just foreseeable by looking into the WP:CRYSTALBALL. Additionally, please sign your posts using "~~~~" — IVORK Discuss 23:19, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Contested deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because it is an actual person, I couldn't rename it as Park Jimin at first because there are pages that are link to it and I don't know how to connect it with the other one

— Preceding unsigned comment added by ZettyMarie (talkcontribs) 03:11, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

I already know this page will be deleted. Yoongi can't even keep a wiki page despite his composing, mixtape, and branching out to produce other people's albums. Jimin hasn't really done anything to separate him from BTS which is what they look at when a page is created for a member of a group. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 03:27, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

This page should not be speedily deleted because Park Jimin is one of the most influential artists in the K-pop genre. He is apart of the Korean boy group BTS or Bangtan Boys which has now gained international attention and popularity. Because of the groups recent popularity, more and more people have been listening to the groups songs and researching the members. This is page is an important factor to the fandom and the image of BTS. Each member is special and deserves to be recognized for their own work.

Article creation

There have been two AFDs involving this subject: here and here. Editors must decide if the added content is enough to address the concerns about notability. For reference, here is a version of the latest redirected article. --NeilN talk to me 20:49, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

Plz change the cover photo of jimin in wiki and change it into a current one Aprillee1197 (talk) 12:23, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Help

If you'd like I can start helping you as you compile stuff. I don't think he will be able to be approved anytime soon but it doesn't hurt to have a page ready for when he finally can.Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 16:50, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Some articles I'm going to look at later for this:

Solo songs

Solo songs and albums should only be listed if they are released as his name. If they were a solo but are part of BTS, then it doesn't really count as a solo single/album. Please clarify with the references whether those two songs are credited to Park or BTS. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:34, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

Serendipity

Should the regular version of serendipity be added to charted songs too? It charted on a bunch of other stuff, but there is a page dedicated to it to that people can click. I was thinking the intro sufficed but I wanted to make sure. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 03:17, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

@Ukiss2ne14lyfe: They're the same song, just released separately. I'd combine the charting and then put a footnote on the places that charted with the full version. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 22:05, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

Protected edit request on 18 October 2018

The Park Ji-min (born 1995) page already exists in Spanish, العربية, Català, Euskara, Français, Bahasa Indonesia, 한국어, Português,, Русский, 中文. A page needs to be made for the English translation. I have a stub draft in my sandbox ready to push. Change protected edit to open edit so the page can be added. Chanelle821 (talk) 22:43, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Please publish your draft article at Draft:Park Ji-min (born 1995). Then you can ask the opinion of User:Michig who closed the last discussion in 2016. If you are unable to find agreement, then you can file a request at Wikipedia:Deletion review. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:22, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
I see the draft is at Draft:Jimin (singer, born 1995). I think your best bet is to resolve the issues identified with that draft first. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:24, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Translation from other languages

The Jimin page already exists in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Korean, and a few other languages. Can someone explain to me why the English page is repeatedly declined when the other language pages exist? --Chanelle821 (talk) 23:07, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

@Chanelle821: Because he currently does not pass notability requirements set on the English Wikipedia. Each language runs independently of each other and may have completely different notability requirements. Alexanderlee (talk) 23:24, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Complete

I'm thinking this is the most I can add to it. I'm only seeing little things here and there I may run into that I could add, unless someone else has stuff too. I'm still not sure it would pass. If it did I think it barely would due to the sparse solo section. Should we submit again or wait a while longer to see if Jimin does anything more notable outside of BTS? Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 02:45, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

Notability

AngusWOOF

  • Criteria for musicians and ensembles
    • 1. The wikipedia page alone shows he's been written about by Billboard, Naver, The Star Chosun, Mwave, Tenasia, ibtimes, Political Analysis, etc; all which meet the guidelines of notable, credible sources for Korean articles per Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/Reliable sources or are known western reliable sources.
    • 6. Is in a notable band, all members but him having a wiki page.

It says at the top he only needs to meet one of the criteria, but he meets two of them. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 23:02, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

Tamar Herman's Billboard magazine article "Get to Know BTS: Jimin" is okay. Political Analysis covers all the band members so it is a non-notable coverage. Tribun covers all members. I'm scrubbing through the rest. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:10, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOF I didn't realize they could mention only him, but here are the articles I used that only do that.Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 23:24, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
EDIT- Not sure if you can read Korean, but the first one is a profile they did on him a few years ago, the second Korean one is about a variety he did, and the third is an article they did on him for his philanthropy. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 23:28, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
Ukiss2ne14lyfe I can always throw it into google translate, but yeah, looking for articles that give significant coverage like [1] for Rose (Blackpink). When the writeup is only a handful of paragraphs, it's not as good. Anyway I tagged it for review, but you can keep editing on it, maybe Curb Safe Charmer can take a look. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:33, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
pinging Mr. Guye, Newyorkbrad, Johnpacklambert, and Fylbecatulous from previous AFD. Has this new information changed your opinion on whether this person should have a page?
Okay, I'm going to go through articles now that I know he alone can only be mentioned. I found an award that he won and put it on the page and it says it's Peeper x Billboard with a picture of it, but I've never heard of it before so I'm not sure exactly what it is. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 00:11, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
It should be stuff that isn't a passing mention. If he shows up at a televised event by himself, that isn't really significant coverage, but can still be part of his biography. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:18, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Peeper x Billboard is that a music show? Wins on those shows like Countdown don't really count towards notability. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:47, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

From what it looks like people vote for it and whoever gets the most votes wins the awards and that group/individual gets a donation to a charity in their name. It's not a music show though. I'm familiar with all their names and it doesn't mention anything like them performing for it.Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 00:53, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

More articles I've added that only mention him.Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 01:20, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Thanks. Keep them coming. The Elite Daily one is phrased a little like the Billboard article but it is coming from another writer and media source so it is showing independent recognition. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:19, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Just to pipe in (I'll locate some more of my own sources for this soon) I just wanted to let AngusWOOF know that Naver's news portal is an aggregator. There's a vetting process as to which sources can publish through it and reliability is part of the criteria, that's why WikiProject Korea has a blanket approval on all Naver articles. But please also note that since it's an aggregator, all articles are via independent sources hosted on Naver and should be treated as separate. (This is also why when doing citations it's generally discouraged to put Naver as the publisher, and preferred that the "work" parameter is credited to the actual source who wrote it.) A good comparison would be Google News, though the sites are not identical. The source of the article Naver is hosting is always pictured above the headline and there are always mirrors of the article on the source's own news site. As an example of this as well as a reliable source covering Jimin separate from BTS, see an article by Segye about the popularity of his solo tracks and the style and performance of said tracks. You can find it hosted on Naver as well as Segye's own site. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 03:58, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

DanielleTH, I can put Naver in the agency or via section of the citation. That might be more useful. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 04:00, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
Yes, that would work too, AngusWOOF! DanielleTH (Say hi!) 04:03, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

A few articles about Jimin topping celebrity brand rankings were published in Sepetember: Chosun, ReKorea, News Inside Korea, Veritas A, and CNB News. All of these were found via Naver. In general I feel like these largely prove he passes WP:GNG but I'm curious as to what people who participated in the AfD think. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 04:17, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

  • Without trawling through all the references using Google Translate, it now seems clear to me that Jimin is an established personality and entertainer in his own right, rather than purely being a member of a boyband. I would support accepting at AfC. Remember that, per WP:AFCPURPOSE, the threshold is whether the article would probably be kept at AfD. I believe it would now.
If this article were nominated for deletion at WP:AFD, would it be likely to survive?
Yes, it will probably be kept. Then ACCEPT it now. (You can tag non-deletion-worthy problems.)
No, it will be deleted. Then DECLINE it. Please explain why you believe it would be deleted.
Maybe, but I'm not sure. Then ASK FOR HELP on the talk page.
Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 13:36, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks Curb Safe Charmer. Given the most recent celebrity information from the book mention in 2017, the Billboard awards and detailed articles dated 2016-2018 (after the previous AFD), and South China Morning Post, this would survive AFD now. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:45, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Stage performances

In the performance section we can add the 2016, Gayo daejun stage performance and also the collaboration with Taemin. These will come under the heading of solo work.

If you have the articles you can add that. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 13:04, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
I found the Taemin one but can't seem to find the other one. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 14:44, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
If you list stage performances, make sure they aren't part of BTS or those general music/variety shows. Theatre/musicals are okay though. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:00, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOF It was part of an end of the year ceremony and it didn't have anything to do with BTS. The official wiki page for it calls it a festival. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 19:59, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Park Jimin (musician)

Duplicate article. Park Jimin name is ambiguous as the name is unisex - see Park Ji-min Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 08:18, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Curb Safe Charmer, I've redirected the (musician) one to the Park Ji-min (disambiguation) page since both male and female singers are musicians. There should only be the one article at Jimin (singer, born 1995) as that was the final consensus at draft. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:14, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

@AngusWOOF: thanks, I tagged it right in the middle of the merge taking place, and promptly un-tagged it. All sorted now by the looks of things. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:43, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Jimin (singer, born 1995)Jimin (singer)WP:SMALLDETAILS, since all other singer pages have the dash in Ji-min and he does not due to his stage name lacking it, there's no need to specify the year. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 00:45, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

This is a contested technical request (permalink). -- AlexTW 02:53, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
WP:SMALLDETAILS states "When such navigation aids are in place, small details are usually sufficient to distinguish topics, e.g. MAVEN vs. Maven; Airplane vs. Airplane!; Sea-Monkeys vs. SeaMonkey; The Wörld Is Yours vs. other topics listed at The World Is Yours". The female "Park Ji-min" is known with a dash in her name; the male is not. Thus, per the policy, the dash is enough to distinguish them. Not to mention the male is hardly referenced with his last name included while the female is, thus his mononym is the title of the page in the first place. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 01:42, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
This appears to be a pretty clear application of WP:SMALLDETAILS. 142.160.89.97 (talk) 02:27, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
DanielleTH, do not redirect Jimin (singer) to Jimin (singer, born 1995) and then make the RM. That is in bad faith to assume he is already primary topic when he is not. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 03:28, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
@AngusWOOF: Apologies, I did so initially when this was submitted as a technical move as I had thought it would be considered as such since it relates directly to a Wikipedia policy, after 83.248.186.87 mentioned it during the last move attempt. I'd appreciate it if you didn't claim it was in bad faith, though, since I can promise it was not. My attempt was initially thinking it to be a temporary technical fix, not claiming he's the primary topic. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 04:00, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Shin Ji-min is primarily a rapper though, not a singer, so having a (singer) clarification would not affect people searching for her. And Park Ji-min is more commonly referred to as "Jimin Park" while BTS' Jimin is almost never referred to with his last name in official releases. Even legal credits fall under "Jimin" while Jimin Park uses the full name. AOA's Jimin's (who is Shin Ji-min) page also includes her last name, which is enough to clarify who the person is looking for while searcing, which is what WP:SMALLDETAILS is about. Same thing with this page lacking the last name and Park Ji-min including it. (And truth be told as she more commonly goes by Jimin Park that should be the name of the page, but that's a move discussion for another time.)DanielleTH (Say hi!) 04:00, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
@AngusWOOF: How do you reconcile your position with WP:SMALLDETAILS? 142.160.89.97 (talk) 07:01, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
142.160.89.97, like I said, WP:SMALLDETAILS would apply only to J-Min not the name Jimin as stylized. Even Lisa (Japanese singer) which has been stylized "lisa" and "LiSA" is disambiguated. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 08:44, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Please refer to Talk:LiSA_(Japanese_musician,_born_1987)#Requested_move on previous stylization disambiguation precedence. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 08:49, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
As for Jimin AOA being primarily a rapper, that is difficult to distinguish since AOA is a girl group, which implies they are all singers. Jimin might get the (rapper) designation though. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 09:35, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
@AngusWOOF: The rest of your reasoning is understandable but I strongly oppose to the reasoning of "that is difficult to distinguish since AOA is a girl group, which implies they are all singers". I'm unsure with your familiarity with K-Pop but all K-Pop groups, female and male, have both rappers and singers, which are fairly prominent in their roles. Being in a Western girl group may imply all singers in cases like the Spice Girls, but definitely not with K-Pop groups. Jimin is known as one of the main rappers in AOA by even those not too familiar with her. Her page is already clarified with the use of her last name, anyway.
Also, do you mind explaining how "J-Min" is an application of WP:SMALLDETAILS at all? WP:SMALLDETAILS states that if something is the same thing (like MAVEN and Maven) the small differences between them (capitalization) are enough to distinguish them. "J-Min" and "Jimin" are not minor differences, they are pronounced differently (Jay-min vs. Jih-min) and have major differences in stylization. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 14:20, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
As the lead of that page indicates, "Shin Ji-min (born January 8, 1991), better known mononymously as Jimin, is a South Korean rapper and singer." (my emphasis). So yes, she is considered a singer. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:21, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
@AngusWOOF: I'm not exactly sure why she's even listed on the main page as a singer, and it must have been added since I last listed her page since it really shouldn't be there. At any rate, reading through responses here I think I change my stance and am more opposed to the move for the sake of clarity between the two Park Ji-mins, though now I'll admit I'm very much confused on the WP:SMALLDETAILS policy. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 18:14, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
Given WP:SMALLDETAILS, why would there being "multiple singers named Jimin" (albeit spelt differently) alone be decisive? 142.160.89.97 (talk) 07:40, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Can the IP please declare any previous edit history before June 2018? There seems to be a familiarity with en.wp titling arguments which goes beyond the few contributions under the IP address. Have you previously edited under a named account? [Okay, just checked IP Talk page and see it is an ISP change, but really if participating in these kind of discussions should register an account]
In any case, it's precisely because of WP:SMALLDETAILS that we don't distinguish articles by inconsistent trivial variations in orthography. This is the same Korean name. Exactly the same. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:11, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Deleting a hosting gig and including BTS film

There is a gig from 2013 Jimin and Taehyung got that does not have a primary source. They're all from secondary sources and I do not think anyone reported they were hosts then. I've been unable to find a primary source and it's been two months so I think it should be deleted. If someone can find a good source it can be added again though. I was also wondering if "Burn the Stage" should be included. That was a BTS thing it wasn't a separate gig that they got that would make it needed on the pages. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 02:23, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Awards

Am I the only one who think it may be a good idea to hold off until these V Live are actually announced? Because from the looks of the site the award will be given to BTS, not Jimin and Jungkook, despite it being a solo V Live from the two of them. Paginating Ukiss2ne14lyfe for this.

While I'm here, do you think their order of merit award should be listed in their infobox? I noticed that an award of similar importance in the United States was listed on Elvis Presley's article, which is an FA. I didn't know if it was worth putting on the BTS members' pages, cause I could also reasonably see how that may be giving it too much prominence. Alexanderlee, Snowflake91, and AngusWOOF, you guys edit this page a lot so I'd love to hear your thoughs (as well as anyone's, of course). DanielleTH (Say hi!) 22:12, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

DanielleTH I agree with you on waiting until they’re anounced. It’s not completely clear so it would avoid any possible confusion. I’m not sure on the award though, I’m not really familiar with it or how important it is. Alexanderlee (talk) 22:43, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
That Presley's award is the highest possible award in the US for non-military people, while the Korean order of merit is the 2nd highest award I think, if someone wants to add it its okay I guess, use this ribbon before the award's name if you'll add it ----> Snowflake91 (talk) 23:17, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
I don't think it's a big deal to wait until winners are announced. I only added it because I saw someone else added it to Jungkook's page. As for adding the cultural merit award to the infobox, I'm not really sure. I don't know too much about it besides very few people acquire it and usually it takes a lifetime of work if they do. If we add it to BTS though we should probably add it to the other people to received the award if they have wiki pages. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 00:30, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
@Ukiss2ne14lyfe: My concerns with waiting though is that I don't think it's given to Jimin and Jungkook, but rather the group like V Live awards have been given in the past, so I think it may be misleading and/or incorrect, and thus we should wait to see who receives the award. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 01:22, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
@DanielleTH: That's what I meant. If we just wait we'll know who the award is given to. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 01:52, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
@Ukiss2ne14lyfe: Oh ok, then we're in agreement then! DanielleTH (Say hi!) 01:57, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Regarding V Live Awards, are they given to individuals or groups? You can wait on those until it's clear. The Order of Merit for Korea can be listed in the Awards section for each person. I've seen cases like The Wiggles where band members get Order of Australia medals and each member then gets the AM post-nominal. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 06:23, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Jimin (singer, born 1995)Jimin – Per WP:COMMONAME and WP:MONONYM, has the addition of "Only if the single name is used as a true artist's name (stage name, pseudonym, etc.) can the recommendations of Nicknames, pen names, stage names, cognomens below be followed" which easily applies to him. Although Jimin is a common name, I don't think it's necessary for his page name to have a disambiguator. He is clearly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Have a look at his page views:[2]. Anyone looking for him only needs to type in his mononym, while anyone else would have to filter their searches for others who share his name. @Carlobunnie are you sure that using Park stands? Especially regarding consistency? Considering opening a consensus talk [7] Trampbirth (talk) 02:26, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
The MOS says that if a person exclusively uses their mononym then they should be referred to by that in their article. If they use both their mononym and their full given name, the article should refer to them by their last name. That's what I was going by here, but you are free to open an RFC. If my understanding is incorrect, I have no issue with it being changed. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 03:49, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

About Music Station

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

My editions about Music Station are repeatedly removed mainly by User:Btspurplegalaxy, but I think the reason is not valid. first with no reason, second with the claim of no relevance, third with them suspecting my intention and the last claims in the past the content was declined. I don’t think User:Btspurplegalaxy read the content because it is relevant to the individual and the third claim is violation of No personal attacks and the last claim is not supported by proof. My text was with reliable sources. The Asahi Shimbun is mainstream paper in Japan and Agence France-Presse is, as you know, one of the most famous of that kind . And on the page of the group, there is no mention about the individual. The program is one of the most famous music programs in Japan and Japan is one of the biggest market of them. Therefore I think you can find notability of the event. In the first place, You can easily find the article of this event on the page of the group. 小出-小坂井 (talk) 14:07, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

@小出-小坂井: in the BTS#2018–2020: Continued worldwide success section of the BTS article, the information is stated in the 5th pgraph, with the sentence beginning "In early November 2018...". The wording used was decided upon after a consensus was reached (several editors participated in the discussion, including ones not specifically affiliated w BTS on WP), following the occurrence of the incident at the time. The reasons stated by Btspurplegalaxy are correct, particularly that the information was/is more relevant to the group hence the reason it was added on that article and not here. Japan being a large market has nothing to do with where the info is stated. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 20:35, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
In the first place, I think Btspurplegalaxy’s reasoning can not be valid except what Carlobunnie pointed out, therefore we can not trust their claims. Carlobunnie claims there were consensus on the group page but they don’t give any proof. And of course it is relevant to the group but so why Wikipedia has the page on the individual and the page has a section about the group? This event is about the group and especially the individual is focused on in the event. We can write that here. And I already gave sources. 小出-小坂井 (talk) 22:01, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
The incident/discussion took place in 2018 and has since been archived on the BTS talk page, which you can search for yourself. Any info related to BTS on Jimin's page has to do with his debut as part of the group or his music-related work. No other details pertaining to BTS are relevant to him as an individual/singer. If his career specifically was affected by the issue (i.e. he was banned from appearing in Japan, had to stop working for a while, was made to pull out of BTS appearances etc.) then that would be relevant to mention, but it was not, hence no inclusion. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 22:33, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
I found the talk you were talking about, which you had to find by yourself to prove your remark is right. But in that there is no specific mention about whether this should be written in the page of the individual. And you claim the event have to affect their career or something if written, but it’s not Wikipedia rules, just your taste. This is the reason why I explained why this event has notability. 小出-小坂井 (talk) 23:45, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

A week has passed since I doubted the validity of the deletion and posted this talk, and now there is no consensus that this should not be written on the page. So I”ll write the content on the page. If a person or two can reject some contents with void reasoning, Wikipedia is not an encyclopedia. This is not the case. 小出-小坂井 (talk) 14:46, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

@小出-小坂井: No consensus means exactly that. I agree with Btspurplegalaxy and Carlobunnie; the event didn't affect him individually (he wasn't kicked out of BTS or prevented from performing or anything of the sort). It did affect BTS as a group, which is why the information is presented in their article, with context and appropiate sources, and not here. I'll ping some other editors so they can give their two cents if they want to, but you already have three telling you the information is not relevant enough to be mentioned, esp when it is already covered in the group's page. Pinging Paper9oll, Ukiss2ne14lyfe & ErnestKrause. - Ïvana (talk) 16:11, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
Agreed with Btspurplegalaxy, Carlobunnie, and Ïvana viewpoints. The information is more suitable for inclusion on BTS (which is already included there since c. 2018) rather than here. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:30, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
To be clear, Ïvana is the editor who posted the last deletion. I understand some have opinions different from mine. But Keep in mind that Wikipedia is not vote but consensus and your way is not fair at all. I want to point out that on the page of group there in no mention of the individual and NO RULES tells you can’t put this info on this page and rather should put it because this event has notability I already prove with reliable sources. 小出-小坂井 (talk) 16:44, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
You've been told what to do. Establish a consensus, then we can all proceed from there. Your babbling isn't going to get you anywhere. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 16:49, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
Besides Carlobunnie everyone who is involved in this talk are the editor who deleted my edits or who was called by them. At this point this is just “vote”. To be clear. And Btspurplegalaxy violated Wikipedia:No personal attacks again. 小出-小坂井 (talk) 17:18, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
You keep commenting on the topic, but you aren't making any effort to make a consensus. Nothing won't be done until you've establish a consensus like I mentioned before. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 17:57, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
小出-小坂井 you have four different editors telling you the same thing. That's actually a consensus already. There hasn't been any "vote" like you claim. I'm not presuming your proficiency with English, but you don't quite seem to quite understand the proper context for "vote" or "personal attack". Btspurplegalaxy hasn't committed the latter at any point, so I'd recommend not continuing to accuse them of such. Your persistent edits, despite repeated explanations from multiple editors of why they're wrong, did not/do not appear to be in good faith. It's not a personal attack to say so. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 19:17, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
Do you really think suspecting my bad intentions with no proof is a normal thing? And calling my edits “babbling”? Except you everyone did things which I think are invalid or was called by them, so I need others’ opinion. That’s what I meant. 小出-小坂井 (talk) 19:30, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
If one makes an edit, or a series of edits, and is repeatedly reverted by other editors, with multiple explanations of why their edits are incorrect or inappropriate, yet that person continues to make the same edits while insisting they are right, and disregards what they have been told, that is editing in bad faith. Which is how your actions come across. It might not have been your intention, but that is how it looks to everyone else. Perhaps you have a different understanding of the word "babbling", but I understand why Btspurplegalaxy said it. They were referring to your comments, not your edits. Please be aware that unless more editors chime in and agree with you, the information will remain excluded from the page, as that is how consensus works. Even though you think the others editors actions were "invalid", despite being told why they were not, I hope you will be able to accept the consensus even if no one else shares your opinion. Until the discussion is over, it would be best to wait, instead of trying to add the info to the page again. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 20:14, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
I understand they call my comments “babbling”. I asserted this is problematic. Only two people rejected the content, which I think is done with invalid reasoning. At this point you are a only person who is a “third party” about the edits. Only third party can discuss the validity. According the method you claim is right, a couple of people can delete contents if they do not like that. This is not Wikipedia or encyclopedia. 小出-小坂井 (talk) 20:44, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
Per WP:ONUS you are indeed required to achieve consensus if you're trying to include material that has been disputed. Also, from what I can see, there are four editors who disagree with your proposed material not two. If you still think these four editors are wrong, you could seek further feedback via some form of WP:Dispute resolution but please take on board what they are saying first otherwise you risk falling into WP:IDHT territory. Note that the editors have given reasons why they feel the material should be excluded rather than just saying they don't like it. Nil Einne (talk) 21:34, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

Jimin (singer, born 1995)Jimin – All sources within his article, identify him as Jimin. Per WP:COMMONAME and WP:MONONYM it should be titled accordingly. Those that share his name are disambiguated; some with hyphens, others with their surnames, and one who has long changed their name from Jimin to Jamie, so there would be no confusion in regard to which Jimin is being referred to. It's evident that Jimin is clearly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC especially given these search results: results [8]. Furthermore, Jimin is singularly listed on his official artist profile and uses it for official legal credits at the Korean Music Copyright Association. Jimin speaking about Joe Biden keeping in touch with the BTS

Billboard magazine has just published an article about Jimin speaking about Joe Biden keeping in touch with the BTS band which appeared to be notable here[1]. However, Ivana feels it should be deleted and has reverted it. Requesting support/oppose comments from other editors. ErnestKrause (talk) 14:41, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

@ErnestKrause: Like I explained in my rv, Jimin said he keeps in touch with the other BTS members, not with Biden. Nothing in the BB article indicates the contrary and you can watch the interview with Fallon where he talks about it (which is already linked in the article) if you have doubts. It only lasts 8 minutes. - Ïvana (talk) 17:46, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
Ivana is correct. You misinterpreted the source. As an aside, this is a very odd thing to request comments from other editors on. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 18:09, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
You have both apparently watched the interview and not read the Billboard article and its analysis which stated: "Jimin discussed the “positive impact” of BTS meeting with president Joe Biden at the White House, and their talks with POTUS 'about how more people should have keen interests in current issues.'" Jimin revealing information about the content of the talking with POTUS is notable and should be included in the article. Carlo's comment above is doubly odd about where to discuss reverts on Wikipedia; reverts are discussed on the Talk page where the revert takes place. The POTUS comment in the Billboard article is notable and should be included in this article. ErnestKrause (talk) 15:11, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
?? I have watched the interview AND read the article. Jimin talking about the importance of the group meeting with Biden and him saying they keep in touch with him (which was the original point you were trying to make) are two completely different things? By all means add it but that's not what this discussion was about. - Ïvana (talk) 17:06, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
And once again Ernest has completely misread what I said. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 18:13, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

Agreement with Ivana to restore the edit; Carlo's comments appear to be doubly odd now. Restoring edit with emphasis as by Ivana's comment. ErnestKrause (talk) 14:29, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

I personally don't see what the page gains by adding that Jimin said that BTS and Biden talked about how more people should be interested in current issues. Chiyako92 14:48, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
Me either. It isn't notable in the slightest, but I'm apparently odd for thinking so. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 15:40, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

Isn't the album a mini album not a studio album? Megamax21 (talk) 01:20, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

See this discussion, for details on why it is listed as it is. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 01:41, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Prêmio Anual K4US

I don't think this is a notable award. Couldn't find any significant coverage from reliable secondary sources (Portuguese or otherwise) to validate its inclusion in the Awards table. Before removing it, I'd like to know if anyone has any objections. Ik it's on a few other BTS member articles, but can't speak for the wider encyclopedia. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 02:56, 1 April 2023 (UTC)

Comment: I think this was already discussed before elsewhere (forgot where but definitely not in BTS-related articles) that this entire award wasn't notable enough with lack of significant coverage from reliable sources regardless of languages hence no objection to removal. I just did a search across Wikipedia, and removed every single instance of the awards listed in the search. Spot checked a few kpop articles at random and found some additional entries which I also removed. Unsure if there're any left elsewhere that the search didn't pick up, but I'd say this awards show is mostly all gone now. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 16:36, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Serendipity

Per BTS' WDSS chart history, Billboard lists the two versions of Serendipity separately. The full length vers peaked at number 5 in May 2022, but we only have the Intro vers listed in the table. Idk if the full vers charted anywhere else, but shouldn't it be mentioned in the table also? -- Carlobunnie (talk) 06:55, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

@Carlobunnie: I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be included. I just checked and in Circle chart the full lenght version peaked at 77. For the BBKR Hot 100 it peaked at 9. (Btw this page is extremely useful for Korean charts) - Ïvana (talk) 21:25, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
Tysm for those chart links. Added the vers to the table. Lmk if you think the wording of the fns (or anything else) needs to be adjusted. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 22:24, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Music video of "Vibe"

Carlobunnie, If you added the music video of "Angel Pt. 1", maybe add "Vibe" to the table as well? Estyxxxx (talk) 23:01, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Just added it. You could've done it you know, cuz I tend to forget about a lot of things. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 01:08, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
You are right, but I currently prefer not to edit myself because my English is not good and I can make a lot of mistakes. I know you are busy with many other things on Wikipedia and yet you added "Vibe". I appreciate it very much! Estyxxxx (talk) 12:34, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
