The article needs some serious clean up
[edit]This article is a bit of a mess.Jacknife737 21:36, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
Hope I helped
[edit]I put in some new sections (even though I didn't sign in). I'm not sure if the wording of the titles are adequate, but I think it's an improvement.Scottswanger
Biography
[edit]I cleaned up the article putting the entire career (Green Day and The Influents) in an only section.
Clean Up
[edit]Still needs some cleanup because of the personal dates —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kongr43gpen (talk • contribs) 17:46, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Sexuality
[edit]There is a little box with info which seems to be correct until "Sexuality: Trisexual". So he's into animals or shemales or sumtin? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.197.13.157 (talk) 22:27, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Nitpicking
[edit]Ok, couple of nits to pick here:
1. Do we really need a whole section just for one tattoo?
2. Why is the personal information in such small text?
3. What happened to the picture?
I will do all the work. I would just appreciate it if anyone could help me with any of the above questions. Rock drum (talk) 17:17, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Does anybody have a free image of Jason White? This article could really do with it. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 18:10, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Music Videos
[edit]Someone said he was in 4 previous videos before 21 Guns and said they excluded the live music videos but included 21 Guns in the examples. I fixed it but am still confused. They list "Last of the American Girls" as a music video but I don't think there is a video for that song. I din;t know why there would be but if there is can someone clear that up for me and the article?Jason Shew (shewy) (talk) 00:52, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, you'd be right in thinking that "Last of the American Girls" has not yet been released a music video, but, it will be soon. http://tweetphoto.com/10412596 Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 17:16, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Fourth member of Green Day
[edit]I noticed today that someone used the Green Day Authority as a source. According to that source, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day said that Jason White is an official member of the band. My understanding is that the Green Day Authority is a fan website of the band, and I'm not sure that a source from there on its own qualifies as a reliable source. Also, I'm a member of Green Day's official fan club Idiot Club. I have not seen any official announcement from the band on the Green Day and Idiot Club websites saying Jason White is an official member. I would think a band would announce any new additions. --Jesant13 (talk) 22:21, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
The information is sourced and it's not coming from any fansite, it's from Guitar World Magazine. Also i don't see the point of why the whole section is "disputed" under your own point of view. Seems like you just don't like Jason.
- I looked at the source and discovered that someone had changed it. When I created this section and added the disputed section template in the article, Green Day Authority was still the source used.
- I don't dislike Jason. Personally I'm against anybody other than Billie, Mike, and Tre being members of Green Day. That is not the main reason I created this section and added the template. I did so because I feel there is no conclusive evidence that White is a member. No announcement was made on the Green Day and Idiot Club websites. On Rolling Stone's website, they don't say White is an official member. The same goes for the Green Day page in the iTunes Store. Now I'm well aware that White appears in some photos that come along with the first album of the trilogy, and that he is not put as an additional member. However, I think that's because of the amount of work that he contributed to the album. As for the source used, at this point I think it is possible that Armstrong either didn't actually make that comment, or that the comment was taken out of context. --Jesant13 (talk) 18:13, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
When Foo Fighters added Pat Smear as their fifth member, they never made an official announcement, there's no need to do that, and seems like Jason is now an official member since he's credited in ¡Uno!'s album along with the rest of the band, but i think we should wait a bit for now until we add information about Jason being an official member. For now i suggest we could call him "The Fourth member" as Billie did in that Rock Magazine interview. The band has the final say, not us. 187.151.123.199 (talk) 23:03, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- I have heard of the Foo Fighters, but did not know that they never made that announcement. I think for the time being we should not include anything about the interview in the article, because as I said I don't think there is enough evidence available. Even Green Day's official Facebook page doesn't say White is one of their members. It says the members are Billie, Mike and Tre. I think I understand what you said about ¡Uno! though. I just don't think there's enough information. Rolling Stone for example reported about what Armstrong did at a music festival earlier this month, but has not reported that White is a new member. I figure they would if there was conclusive evidence White was a new member. I have decided to undo your edit and hope you understand and accept why I have decided to do so. I also hope you realize I'm not doing this because I would rather not have White in the band. I've been a Wikipedia account holder for multiple years and would not want to put my account in jeopardy. --Jesant13 (talk) 00:50, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi. I checked the source given by the 187.151.123.199 contributor and it meets all the standards to back White's membership as a reliable source, since it contents
the piece of work itself (the article, book), wich is the Article scan itself the creator of the work (the writer, journalist), Alan Di Perna and the publisher of the work (for example, Random House or Cambridge University Press). Guitar World Magazine from Nov 12 wich is already out.

- I looked at the article you asked me to check, and I agree with you. I think the source is accurate and that the quote from Armstrong is legit. I still am skeptical though because I am not aware of Rolling Stone reporting White is an official member, or of any announcements from the band on their official website. For the time being though, I don't plan on reverting the edit. I also don't plan on reverting the edit made to the article Green Day or to the template which has links to the articles for each of Green Day's studio albums. --Jesant13 (talk) 21:48, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

- Jason White (musician, born 1967) → ?
– Opening discussion to find better qualifiers than year of birth if possible. Jason White (singer-songwriter) is currently a redirect but possibly ambiguous. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 22:18, 27 October 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Polyamorph (talk) 07:27, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
- Why not, Jason White (guitarist) and Jason White (singer). Seems to disambiguate them enough Mewhen123 (talk) 00:05, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose. Solution in search of a problem. YOB is very commonly used as a disambiguator, no matter how much some seem to dislike it and claim it isn't (
Disambiguating by vital year may be necessary when there are multiple people with the same name and same specific disambiguation qualifier.
). Both are guitarists and singers. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:40, 8 November 2023 (UTC) - Support the first move at least. Disambiguating by year of birth is unhelpful to the reader in this case. Looking at WP:AT, the proposed title is a clear winner on recognisability, naturalness, precision and concision. Consistency probably favours the current title. But four criteria in favour makes it a clear winner as well it just obviously being easier for readers to find the article they're looking for. Jenks24 (talk) 02:21, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
- Support the first, absolutely. Green Day guitarist is a clear and unambiguous dab, much more recognizable than a year of birth - particularly with these two only 6 years apart. If a suitable dab can be found for the second, then would favour moving that too. — Amakuru (talk) 14:36, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- Support moving the first to Jason White (Green Day), as the "guitarist" is unnecessary.
Suggesting Jason Sandbrink White as the target for the second move.— Bensci54 (talk) 15:49, 15 November 2023 (UTC)- Not if he isn't known as Jason Sandbrink White. We don't use middle names that aren't commonly used for disambiguation purposes. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:17, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- I reviewed WP:MIDDLE and you are absolutely correct. I'll withdraw my suggestion. I can't think of a better option at the moment, though. Bensci54 (talk) 17:22, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
