Notability Discussion
[edit]Note to any other editors following this article, that user:Klgd98 started a discussion on my talk page. I am attempting to give suggestions to them about how to establish notability. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 17:19, 29 April 2018 (UTC)

Notability Discussion
[edit]Hi Jameson Blake is really an actor.
He had significant roles in multiple notable films (2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten,Unexpectedly Yours, Haunted Forest, and Mama's Girl he even have new films.[1]
He was also a television actor with several shows My Dear Heart, A Love to Last, a recurring cast in Home Sweetie Home. He has also an upcoming tv show Nostalgia which he is one of the lead.
He is doing stage performances as one of the members of the all-male dance group Hashtags (dancers) of noontime variety show It's Showtime during no tapings.[2][3]
Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following. See * Jameson Blake on Facebook
He also was awarded as "Best Supporting Actor" in 12th Cinema One Originals Film Festival in 2016 with the film 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten.[4][5] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bugswood (talk • contribs) 02:14, May 14, 2018 (UTC)
- I'd say that [1][2][3] makes a reasonable case for notability, and per imdb [4] he's been working since Big Brother. Pinging Davey2010, Bearian and Eggishorn, care to weigh in? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:13, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

- IMHO he wasn't notable in 2012 and he's certainly not notable now. –Davey2010Talk 11:31, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Agree on the 2012-thing. Why "certainly"? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:09, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- The points offered by Bugswood do not persuade that the deletion discussion was incorrect. It is long-standing consensus that social media platform follower counts are subject to such pervasive manipulation that they are not considered evidence of a cult following. The award appears to be both non-independent and only barely notable. In any event, notability is WP:NOTINHERITED and awards are not a criteria of WP:NACTOR. The references offered are the most gossipy type of WP:SENSATIONAL coverage and are themselves in outlets of questionable reliability and independence. The one thing they do demonstrate is that the redirect may warrant being changed to List of It's Showtime cast members Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 14:48, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- I'm glad we all agree on 2012. This however is 6 years later and so revisiting notability is fair. Looking at the sources above, only the rappler article is making me rethink my notability stance on this topic (the other three I'd previously looked at and felt they didn't do the job). Pursuing WP:RSN I see a discussion from January which seems to come to the consensus that news articles on the site are RS. The article definitely treats him like he's notable for being famous and does seem to establish at least one notable acting credit. Frankly another good source along those lines, that is from a RS saying he's famous and has a different notable acting credit (perhaps for the movie he won an award for which I've currently analyzed, like Eggishorn as a not notable award for a not notable film), would satisfy me enough to not revert an article that was written (but it would have to be substantially improved from the one that Klgd kept pushing). Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 14:59, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Eggishorn, minor quibble: awards are WP:ANYBIO, so the argument has some value. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:51, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Gråbergs Gråa Sång:, true but it actually says: "... a well-known and significant award..." which this surely is not. Thanks. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 16:13, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Barkeep49, I must say I thought the Yes! (Philippine magazine) article was a pretty good find. Sure, it's an interwiew, but there's some journalism there too. I don't think any of the 4 sources I listed is glaringly not-RS (in context). Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:46, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- While there is text in that article it wasn't clear to me that it was reported rather than just being a summary of information that was gleaned during the interview. So Yes! as a source can certainly be RS but I didn't find an interview to be relevant in establishing notability. And to be honest even taking it at the most generous reading I didn't see anything in the non-quote section that would help establish notability - it just establishes that he's a working actor. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 15:00, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- I agree, Barkeep - winning an award does not meet the significant coverage criteria to establish notability. Actually, see WP:PUFF. Atsme📞📧 16:21, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:36, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

- Hello I think everything is enough. Please dont ever change it again because I believe what was putted was all true. And please make a see to all the sources, its all reliable I swear. Barkeep49 Atsme please give it to us. Please Bugswood (talk) 13:59, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
- Okay, I just reverted the recreation of the article, pending the outcome of this discussion. After looking at his credits, he has starring roles in Haunted Forest, Mama's Girl, and 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten. Those would appear to meet WP:NACTOR, so I think his notability has changed since the AfD. However, I am troubled by Bugswood's last comment -- who are "us"? Onel5969 TT me 13:07, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
- I'm going to WP:AGF and say that the "we" are Blake's fans (which I've never doubted are real). I have gone ahead and made a version of the page that takes out a lot of what appears to be his non-notable actions (e.g. appearing as himself). Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 15:29, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49:, I don't see how the re-creation of this article complies with the consensus of editors in the above discussion. The only policy-based arguments to re-create it seem to have been yours, while all the other arguments to re-create are fans with WP:ILIKEIT or WP:PLEASEDON'T arguments. If I were to have closed this (which I won't as I participated) the most generous reading would be no consensus, not re-creation. I think you should revert the re-creation and let another, non-involved editor, close it. Thank you. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 15:59, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
- No comment and no opinion. Bearian (talk) 16:16, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Eggishorn: I guess I'm reading the consensus differently. There had been some number of editors who would pop-up and try to create this as an article, rather than a redirect. Some other number of editors opposed this and would restore the redirect. In this conversation and in the redirects, I see you, me, Davey, and Onel as opposing based on notability. Recently I see a change of opinion by Onel, if suspect of some participating editors, and myself, based on Onel's findings. Given that the last AfD is 15 months old, there are additional claims of notability since then, and that redirect is a "soft" deletion I think it's fair to have the article exist. If others disagree they can revert me or go to AfD, which I'd suggest given that it might allow for a broader set of contributors to weigh in. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:01, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
