Merge Proposal
[edit]Current page and Anti-Palestinianism during the 2023 Israel–Hamas war are basically the same topic. Shouldn’t they be merged? JacobS11 (talk) 06:55, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
- I would argue that they are slightly different, but I’d be willing to hear your argument. Professor Penguino (talk) 10:35, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
Rename topic name to anti-islam to comply with NPOV
[edit]Using the term islamophobia suggest that opposing ideas of Islam is based on fear Wich is not based in events in reality in order to dehumanize thous who show no tolerance for thous events 79.177.5.13 (talk) 04:35, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- Not sure what you mean by this? Could you articulate this? Professor Penguino (talk) 05:18, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't notice how old this thread is when I wrote that. Industrial Metal Brain (talk) 06:14, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- It would not be NPOV when one of the other pages is Antisemitism during the Israel–Hamas war, which has even stronger negative connotations than Islamophobia, and it is difficult to justify renaming that something like "anti-Jewish criticism". In both cases there is controversy about criticism of an ideology (in that case Zionism) vs dehumanizing a group. Industrial Metal Brain (talk) 06:10, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

Islamophobia during the Israel–Hamas war → Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism during the Israel–Hamas war –
Because there has also been hostility towards Arabs that is not Islamophobic (against non-Muslim Arabs, and racism against Arabs by non-Arab Muslims), but there is too much overlap in the topics for a third page when we already have Anti-Palestinianism during the Israel–Hamas war.
Islamophobia itself also includes racist tropes and stereotypes, and in this case anti-Arab racism is the most relevant type of racism involved.
