Who sang for Eleanor Parker ?
[edit]The introduction says "The singing voice of Lawrence was provided by Eileen Farrell" while the section titled "Musical tracks" strongly implies Eleanor Parker did the singing herself. Which is right? Or is it a combination? This needs either a correction or a clarification. KHarbaugh (talk) 17:58, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
- A YouTube video of the movie contains the following comment: "as it happens, she [Eleanor Parker] actually did not lip sync in the usual sense. She actually did SING, full-out, OVER the recordings of Eileen Farrell which they played very loudly on the soundstage as they shot the film. It's impossible to get that look of actually singing re. the throat muscles and diaghram control, etc. by just lip synching." The author of the comment, pdclemens, claims to be an offspring of Ms. Parker (Paul Clemens?). The video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmn8BoN9opY . My question is: Can this information, with such uncertain sourcing, be included in the Wikipedia article? KHarbaugh (talk) 18:31, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
- That YouTube comment is of course not a reliable source, nor does it contradict what the article says. Parker sang full voice during filming, but what we hear is Farrell. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 06:42, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- I see. So evidently the complete musical score was recorded before the filming was done.KHarbaugh (talk) 23:39, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

On a slightly different topic, does anyone have any knowledge as to why Farrell rather than Lawrence herself was used as the singing voice? In fact there were recordings of Lawrence singing that music recorded earlier, if Lawrence's voice in 1955 was judged no longer adequate for the part. That seems to be an interesting part of the story that properly belongs in this Wikipedia article. KHarbaugh (talk) 23:38, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
