[edit]There are multiple examples of Infiniti articles being renamed without the numeric designation, such as Infiniti I, Infiniti M, Infiniti EX, Infiniti FX, and Infiniti G. It seems logical that this article use the same naming convention.{Regushee (talk) 16:36, 16 September 2009 (UTC)}
2014 Infiniti QX80
[edit]It is very likely that a mid-cycle update is in the works for the 2014 model year and will coincide with the renaming to QX80. The QX has always been facelifted 4 calendar years after it's initial press introduction(or leak)(i.e. 1996/fl-2000, 2003/fl-2007, 2009/fl-2013). Design work would've been completed this year and scheduled for next fall.---Carmaker1 (talk) 13:14, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Renaming, split
[edit]I suggest that Infiniti's change in naming policies makes a split of this article a necessity. I agree that it could not remain Infiniti QX, as that name is used by all off-road Infinitis from now on. But calling this article "Infiniti QX80" is also problematic, since the name is only a very recent introduction. Also, the QX4 has now become a very uncomfortable fit on this page, as it is of a different size class and shares nothing at all with the later QX56/80 range. I would suggest splitting this into two articles along those lines, with Infiniti QX4 perhaps a redirect to a merger at Nissan Pathfinder.
What should the article for the full-sized more recent model be called? I suggest Infiniti QX56, as that was how it was originally introduced. I welcome any further suggestions. Mr.choppers | ✎ 00:53, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- I agree that the Infiniti QX4 should be merged with Nissan Pathfinder. My suggestion is the Infiniti models should not be renamed until a new generation or replacement is introduced with the new name; for example the Infiniti G and Infiniti Q50. Regards, VX1NG (talk) 19:45, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
- I think that QX4 is the separate model and not the predecessor of the QX56 (cause they are absolutely different) but nevertheless it`s not the same as Pathfinder. So imho there must 2 different articles about both models (QX4 and QX56)
- The QX4 is a Pathfinder/Terrano with a bit more equipment, so I disagree. Mr.choppers | ✎ 05:26, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Infiniti QX80 → Infiniti QX56 – QX56 is the car's original name, "QX80" was never used for the first generation for instance. See conversation above as well. --Relisted. Dekimasuよ! 21:38, 22 October 2014 (UTC) Mr.choppers | ✎ 05:26, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Neutral — maybe QX56 works better at the moment, but I envisage issues coming up as users will demand the current model's title is reflected. Likewise, what do we do going forward with the next generation—a model that will never receive QX56 badging? OSX (talk • contributions) 01:57, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- We'll move it back - but for now, "QX56" has been used on both generations and "QX80" only for less than a year. Mr.choppers | ✎ 23:49, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support, it's almost a line call, but the only objection is speculative so suggest we do the move (I almost closed it myself) and move on. Andrewa (talk) 14:06, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Infiniti QX56 → Infiniti QX80 – The vehicle has been referred to as 80 for the last few years, and the current name should be the article name. Before the 2014 model year on Infiniti's website, they marketed it as the Infiniti QX without 56 on the end as all the models were different letters. Now that their cars start with either a Q or QX, it seems like QX80 is the current name and it should be retitled as such. 76.116.198.27 (talk) 23:42, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
- I should also add that the other crossovers (JX, EX, FX) are named their current vehicle names. 76.116.198.27 (talk) 02:12, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
- Support, the new name is not so new anymore, and it's here to stay. No such user (talk) 13:12, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
