Some Boards no longer active. Use past tense?
[edit]Hispachan, Krautchan, and Wizardchan do not exist anymore, but their entries are written as if they still do. ie: "The site also features a popular English language board, /int/, which is also the origin of the Polandball internet phenomenon. In March 21, 2018 the imageboard was shut down." - Can these be changed to use the past tense? As is they are factually incorrect. --Stackguy (talk) 14:50, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
- I’ve added the needs update tag. Aaron Liu (talk) 16:48, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
- Updated, those boards should now all be referred to in the past tense. Please let me know if there's anything I missed (in updating the tense), it seemed like Wizardchan was the only one of those three to still be in present tense which now should be fixed. Removal of tumblr and Pinterest from the opening description
[edit]I tried a couple times only to have some guy keep removing my edits. tumblr and Pinterest are not imageboards, proper examples would be 7chan, 420chan etcDollsyndrome (talk) 19:36, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- I suppose the mentions of tumblr and pinterest are unsourced, and so can be removed. But replacing them with a list of nonnotable websites isn't going to work. MrOllie (talk) 16:54, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
Regarding Soyjak party
[edit]Why is an entry for soyjak.party not allowed? It is one of the most active English speaking imageboards and is widely known throughout imageboard circles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8308:219:D00:F736:7FB8:1BC:F82F (talk) 13:48, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Sources that meet WP:RS and WP:V are required for all challenged content on Wikipedia. The sources cited in that section did not even come close to meeting those requirements. - MrOllie (talk) 13:50, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- So you're saying that unless it satisfies the wikipedia mods and unless they are familiar with the source personally it's just not good enough? So much for free online encyclopedia. 79.164.126.199 (talk) 14:05, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- to add onto this, there's other sections that have less reliable, peer-reviewed sources than the soyjak.party article. Soyteen (talk) 14:14, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS MrOllie (talk) 14:17, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- If you follow the logic of WP you've posted the best course of action for any user of wikipedia is to just imitate you - make an account and cancel every edit/article attempt while farming karma and following senseless rules that are only rivaled by rules and laws in totalitarian dystopias like Nazi Germany. Like i said, "so much for free online encyclopedia". 79.164.126.199 (talk) 14:28, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Dude, this isn’t Reddit, mods and karma don’t exist or work here. How tf does this correlate to Nazis did they have a policy of WP:AGF or kill revert discuss. In Reddit terms, Wikipedia is an echo chamber of reliable sources. That’s just what it is. Aaron Liu (talk) 16:42, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
- on wikipedia, there is an equal ammount of Soyjak.party related material as Wizardchan related material. I seriously don't understand why smaller imageboards like Wizardchan and others that have been removed from this page were on here. 96.227.112.92 (talk) 23:20, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Because Wizardchan was covered by Slate. Aaron Liu (talk) 00:14, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

- OtherStuffExists doesn't apply when it's in the scope of the very same article that's moderated pretty much only by you. For example Wizardchan's significance pales in comparison to Soyjak Party and there are metrics that easily prove it. 2A02:8308:219:D00:F736:7FB8:1BC:F82F (talk) 15:51, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Then add them backed by reliable sources since this is an exceptional claim to the section instead of just blind adding it back! Aaron Liu (talk) 16:43, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

This is absurd. The latest edit had several trustworthy sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8308:219:D00:F736:7FB8:1BC:F82F (talk) 22:11, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

boorus
[edit]websites like danbooru or e621, and the kind this article is about like 4chan, are both referred to as 'imageboards,' but this is only about the latter. (theyre fairly different kinds of website though; boorus are image galleries with tags that can be edited (kind of like a wiki actually), chans are... the ones this wikipedia article is about.) Pokémon and pornography even links to this article when mentioning boorus 'like Gelbooru or e621' 2A00:23C5:4080:7C01:EC72:F9FB:C0D:DF0F (talk) 11:59, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
Removal of Lainchan section
[edit]I added the section "Lainchan" using the FAQ of that website as the source, but it was swiftly removed for the reason of not having a source outside of itself. However, the "Futaba Channel" section also only uses Futaba Channel's "Frequently Asked Questions" page as the source and has not been removed. For this reason, I am asking for the "Lainchan" section to be restored. Kawaiidumbassery (talk) 02:12, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- Edit: I was mistaken, the source for the "Futaba Channel" section is the homepage for Futaba Channel, not an FAQ. However, that is still using only the website itself as the source, which was the reason named for removing the "Lainchan" section. It does not make sense to me why the "Futaba Channel" section stays and the "Lainchan" section does not, even though it uses the same type of source. Kawaiidumbassery (talk) 02:18, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- Futaba Channel has its own article, which is linked in the section. You can find the independent sourcing there. MrOllie (talk) 02:38, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification! That makes sense. ^ - ^ Kawaiidumbassery (talk) 05:13, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
