[edit]Anyone know anything about how he came into football? Also, am I right in thinking that he has an engineering degree and worked in engineering while playing non-league football?
I have chopped the bit about Dowie battling the odds to take Oldham to the playoffs. This is a myth which unsurprisingly Dowie himself has done very little to counter. Oldham had the 3rd biggest payroll in the division that season. The financial meltdown came after that campaign when the chairman pulled the plug.
A minor point.
- At 16 Dowie was rejected by Southampton and went to the University of Hertfordshire to study for a Master's Degree in engineering. On completion he became an employee of British Aerospace, whilst keeping up football at non-league level playing for Cheshunt alongside his brother Bob.
He finished playing at Cheshunt at age 20. Does that mean he earned a Masters degree before the age of 20? If so, I'm mightily impressed!! (or I'm assuming he got a Bachelor's degree...)--Alexio 03:28, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Wasn't he once voted as most handsome footballer in UK? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.102.85.189 (talk) 18:15, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Table
[edit]I am confused by the recently inserted table of international games. What are the Score and Result columns, what is the difference? The only think I can think of is a 2 leg match but there is no explanation given. Keith D (talk) 15:58, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
