Talk:Humberside Police
Humberside Police was nominated as a Social sciences and society good article, but it did not meet the good article criteria at the time (August 12, 2024, reviewed version). There are suggestions on the review page for improving the article. If you can improve it, please do; it may then be renominated. |

[edit]What is meant by "covering parts of the East Riding of Yorkshire" - specifically the word 'parts'. Does the police force not cover all of this district? The police force's website says "Humberside as a force covers the districts of North-East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, and the East Riding of Yorkshire, along with the urban area of Kingston-upon-Hull" and the entries of other police forces on Wikipedia don't mention covering 'the rest of the East Riding of Yorkshire'.139.149.1.194 12:55, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

COI March 2020
[edit]HUMPOLINFO has added many edits to the page, some which I deem to be far too detailed. I have amended some (IE downgraded all caps to lowercase in the motto) and I have blanked a middle section which I think is just too much; detailing the registration plates of chase vehicles and informing the reader of its engine size and 0-60 capability. It is not vandalism, but it is excessively detailed in my view and their username suggests a WP:COI link too. Can someone else take a cursory look as I am too involved now to be unbiased? Thanks and regards. The joy of all things (talk) 13:01, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
New force crest
[edit]It seems Humberside is (finally) rolling out its new Charles III force crest as of this month, although it seems to be limited to small parts of its online presence at the moment. Taking a look on a section of their website and their Facebook page, it looks drastically different than the Elizabeth II one (note the bordering!), but at present, I can't find any PDFs put out by Humberside that allows an isolation of the new crest for upload as an SVG file.
Not sure who I'd be asking in particular to do so, but it might be worth keeping track of the force's media releases for the time being. As for the current crest SVG file, what will happen with it? Hullian111 (talk) 19:41, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I am going to quick fail this nomination. My reasons are listed below:
- The lead needs to be expanded so that it covers all major aspects of the article. If a section has a level 2 heading (like "History", "Operations", etc.) then it should be summarised in the lead.
- There is a lot of uncited text, including entire paragraphs with statistics. There should be a citation at the end of every paragraph, minimum.
- The lists of "Chief constables", "Officers killed in the line of duty" and "Notable incidents and investigations" are probably not needed in this article. If this information is notable, they should have their own list articles. Instead, this information should be mentioned in the article if it is notable for police force. In otherwords, if the incident caused widespread changes, a major scandal, or continuous news coverage, and the changes in police chief can be incorporated into the prose of the History section.
- Some sections are too long: I recommend that each section be 3-5 paragraphs. Use level 3 headings or summarise the information to make the text more readable.
- Similar to the above, I would remove the level 3 headings in "Documentaries" as this is MOS:OVERSECTION and can just be presented as paragraphs.
Please feel free to post on my talk page if you have any questions or concerns about this review. I will run the bot to fail this GAN momentarily. Z1720 (talk) 01:25, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
