[edit]My photo bites, can anyone provide a better one? Rob T Firefly 05:46, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I replaced it with a new image. Hopefully it bites less. Rob T Firefly 11:09, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

demolition?
[edit]can anyone check if the demolition plans are still actual? regarding to the website of the hotel there has been renovation for 7mio US$ in 2007/08 - which would not make any sense if the hotel should be closed. furthermore the economy has changed and I heard that the hotel is not only as real estate an asset for its owners, but also thanks to good bookings. I stayed there in Aug. 07 and it is really very centrally located. Anyhow. Are there any news on the demolition topic. Actually I never found any confirmation, especially not in the news section of the home page of Vornado Realty Trust. Stoffl.s (talk) 23:15, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Market for office space really low. Market for cheap hotel rooms in central locations really high. Likelihood of demolition in the near future not great. Hotel Pennsylvania wins during the recession. Sincerely, SamBlob (talk) 07:31, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- I have added a brief mention of the latest news (May 2010) on possible demolition. I do however not have any references to the voting in the Manhattan Community Board 5, which was overruled by Borough president for Manhatten Scott Stringer. Please edit my addition if you have more information or references. Jonasbn (talk) Fri Jun 4 06:54:05 UTC 2010 —Preceding undated comment added 06:57, 4 June 2010 (UTC).
I think the line The site is the only remaining area in Midtown Manhattan that would not require special permits for development of a new office project of that size. should be removed. There is virtually no way of proving this, however, if it was true then Vornado would not need to have gone to the city planning for a zone change. 1408 Movie
[edit]I deleted the section about the movie 1408 being filmed in the hotel. That is totally false. Italianfreak00 15:52, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Frank Olson, edit request RE "conspiracy theorists"
[edit]In 'Notable Events', the following sentence exists:
"On November 28, 1953, U.S. Army bacteriologist Frank Olson crashed through a window on the 13th floor and fell over 150 feet (46 m) to the sidewalk below. The NYPD investigation showed his death to be suicide; some conspiracy theorists hint darkly that the CIA murdered him."
This case has received some attention recently with the Errol Morris Netflix documentary "Wormwood": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wormwood_(miniseries)
The Frank Olson page is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Olson
As of 2017, this appears to be a notable explanation of a events from journalist Seymour Hersh:
"Journalist Seymour Hersh in the 2017 miniseries Wormwood, which streamed on Netflix, says the Government had a security process to identify and execute domestic dissidents (perceived to pose a risk). He said that Frank Olson was a victim of this and an ongoing cover-up after his death. However, Hersh explained that he cannot elaborate or publish on the facts because it would compromise his source."
The phrase "some conspiracy theorists hint darkly that the CIA murdered him" appears far too slanted, and should be re-written. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.45.251.253 (talk) 03:58, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
- See WP:EXTRAORDINARY. If you want WP to give more credibility to the idea that the CIA secretly assassinated him, you need lots more and better sources. - LuckyLouie (talk) 21:10, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
Notable Events : CBS Broadcast from Madhattan Room in 1937
[edit]There is an official recording of this broadcast bearing above title and listing all the musicians mentioned within the reference. Unfortunately, the latest, ie. the 1995, edition went out of print. Shouldn't this be as good as an actual citation to substantiate the fact that broadcasts actually did take place within said venue ? Omegasus (talk) 00:12, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
