I worked on this article anonymously last year. Now I've returned to it to find a lot of interesting additions... but some of them, unfortunately, have been imported directly from Don Markstein's proprietary site, Toonopedia. I have removed the borrowed segments, attempting to replace them with my own text covering the same ground. -- Ramapith 16:14, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Does anyone know why he went from being as important of a character as Goofy, Minnie, Clara Belle and Donald to a rarely seen one? --Mrmoustache14 (talk) 19:49, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mickey, Donald, and Goofy all developed personalities that resonated with audiences, and left them wanting more. Horace and Clarabelle were never more than bit players, virtual ciphers with almost no personality of their own. (Clara Cluck did have a personality, but not one well suited to starring roles, ironically.) As Mickey moved away from his barnyard roots, Horace simply didn't fill any needed story role.
