[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Taliban's rise to power. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20081025030742/http://www.robert-fisk.com:80/taliban_lecture.htm to http://www.robert-fisk.com/taliban_lecture.htm
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

New section.
[edit]The Taliban has once again taken over many parts of the country. It's only fair that a "Resurgence" section is added. People need to know about this when they read this article. Do not try to brush this under the carpet.150.101.89.147 (talk) 07:20, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
- This article is about the formation of the Taliban in the mid-1990s; the 2021 Taliban offensive is a separate topic. Even if material from the latter article were relevant here, your spamming of breaking news reports inaccurately asserting that "The US and UK are conducting a re-entry into Afghanistan" (based on the U.S. evacuating its embassy in Kabul) is not helpful or constructive to the development of Wikipedia's encyclopedic project.TheTimesAreAChanging (talk) 13:50, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
No definite article in title?
[edit]Should this article be titled 'History of the Taliban'? Nurg (talk) 08:38, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- That article is currently a redirect which needs to be deleted first. Keepcalmandchill (please ping in responses) (talk) 10:16, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- User:Keepcalmandchill. I see. Do you agree that would be a good idea? There's no unusual grammatical thing at play, is there? Nurg (talk) 11:54, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

History of Taliban → History of the Taliban – When the Taliban are mentioned in a Wikipedia article, it tis almost always preceded by a definite article. Interstellarity (talk) 18:49, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

- Support, based on common usage within Wikipedia. With that said, I would not be adverse to a broader discussion on the use of "Taliban" vs "the Taliban"; translated over, "Taliban" is more grammatically correct, and the use of "Taliban" vs "the Taliban" varies in English usage based on the country the use is occuring in. false citation?
[edit]the sentence preceding the [43] citation here doesn't match up with what the book says at all, it says nothing about mujahideen surrendering to the Taliban at all 216.252.90.24 (talk) 17:21, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
Orphaned references in History of the Taliban
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of History of the Taliban's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "Anderson-2-2022":
- From Taliban: Anderson, Jon Lee (28 February 2022). "The Taliban Confront the Realities of Power". The New Yorker. Retrieved 3 March 2022.
- From Mullah Omar: Anderson, Jon Lee (28 February 2022). "The Taliban Confront the Realities of Power". The New Yorker. Retrieved 19 June 2023.
I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT⚡ 19:11, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
