"Falsely"

[edit]

I removed the word "falsely" from the phrase "(falsely claiming that 'the masks don't work')". This is because the citation that Dhillon said "the masks don't work" was dated May 27, 2020. Every study currently cited in Face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic#Efficacy studies for COVID-19 was published after May 27, 2020. Dhillon could not have known the results of studies which had not been published yet. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:56, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The idea that masks can be used to slow the spread of pathogens is very old, and the proof that the concept is correct is also older than Harmeet. Ignorance of facts is not an excuse for making incorrect statements. Of 19 (talk) 21:00, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Of 19 That statement is far too broad to be very much use. There are pathogens, and there are pathogens. Some of them, e.g. amoebas, you can see some details of their anatomy under an ordinary microscope. On the other hand, Louis Pasteur was never able to find--see--the microbe of rabies; the reason is, the virus that causes rabies is basically too small to be seen with light (and he did not have an electron microscope). Surely, then, the efficacy of masks must range from highly effective to almost useless, depending on the pathogen. Uporządnicki (talk) 13:26, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, according to multiple studies, the cloth masks used during the pandemic had gaps large enough to let COVID-19 particles through the masks. The NIH itself actually said that the claim that cloth masks are effective at preventing the spread of COVID-19, is questionable (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34689269/). So, no. Metropolitan 90 was actually making a correct statement, and "falsely" should definitely be removed. Pbs123456789 (talk) 01:54, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Latest news is missing

[edit]

The Guardian reports that there are questions about whether Harmeet Dhillon moved $1.3 million inappropriately.

This information should go in the article.

I hope someone knowledgeable about the situation can add this to the article.
