Creating a stub for now - I'll be back to improve ASAP :) Jonathan Deamer (talk) 15:32, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Have expanded the article, with copyediting and WP:MOS help from a few folks, so upgraded article to 'start' class having read WP:ASSESS. Jonathan Deamer (talk) 12:56, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Jonathan Deamer, I'm pleased to see this article here. Writing about trees has been a bit of a sideline for me on here over recent years and I've written most of the other articles for entries into the Tree of the Year competition. Review follows: article created 28 December, article exceeds minimum length; sourcing seems OK; the hooks is OK, mentioned in the article and citation; image is appropriate and freely licensed; qpq has been carried out. I did notice some similarities in wording from the sources that could do with looking at. For example:
  • "enable the delivery of 584 much needed new homes, including 243 affordable homes, many of which are for people living in substandard accommodation elsewhere on Woodberry Down." is taken verbatim from this article without quotation
  • "Drawn on an Ordnance Survey map in 1870, the Happy Man Tree is over 150 years old" is taken from the campaign website
  • " the planting of 175 new trees, as well as the equivalent of 19 tennis courts of new open spaces, including a new fully public park" is from this news article. The paragraph about the camp when the fence went up also has some similarities and could use rewording

If these can be looked at then I would be happy to pass this - Dumelow (talk) 09:38, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback, Dumelow! Think I've corrected those issues sufficiently - could you take another look and let me know what you think, please? Jonathan Deamer (talk) 10:00, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent stuff Jonathan Deamer, one other thing I should have mentioned: could you expand the lead please? Otherwise someone could slap an ugly Template:Lead too short on it. Thanks - Dumelow (talk) 10:10, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Done! Have read MOS:LEADLENGTH but shout if you think more needed. Jonathan Deamer (talk) 10:40, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good to me - Dumelow (talk) 11:36, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Details of the tree's felling

[edit]

Lots of further info in the Hackney Gazette article already included as a reference: number of arrests, size of police presence, comments from the mayor and named campaigners.

Please do expand if you get chance before I do :) Jonathan Deamer (talk) 19:30, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not referenced in the article yet, but also useful: "‘It struck fear into us’: Happy Man Tree campaigners slam Town Hall for ‘overreach’ in court injunction" Jonathan Deamer (talk) 13:18, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
