Proposed merge
[edit]I'm not sure the term 'Hansonism' really exists as a concept enough to merit a separate article. It's not uncommon to stick 'ism' after a prominent politician's name. Ivar the Boneful (talk) 11:31, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Don't merge – <insert reason for opposing merger here> Politically Minded Stoner (talk) 12:05, 13 October 2020 (UTC) it is uncommon for it to be added to the Australian National Dictionary, if we removed ideologies named after people we would also have to remove other articles named after people, see: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ideologies_named_after_people
- Closing, given the uncontested objection and no support. Klbrain (talk) 13:40, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Hansonisn is Trumpism
[edit]Check the talk page for Trumpism, with the latest subject being how Pauline Hanson is a Trumpist with a lot of sources, and many, many comparisons to Donald Trump. This article should just be renamed "Trumpism in Australia". 2001:8003:AD13:F800:8422:E091:4411:722D (talk) 09:09, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
Word "wildly" in lead
[edit]Shouldn't it be "widely"? AnonMoos (talk) 23:24, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. Fixed. HiLo48 (talk) 00:34, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
A better comparison is needed.
[edit]"She is widely considered to be the Australian equivalent of Donald Trump." is extremely problematic. She was not close to becoming the leader in Australia, nor does a Prime-Minister and President do the same role. Perhaps a comparison to MTG is more suitable to properly scale her importance in the Australian government, while being as close to a comparison of a politician from a different country.
I also don't know how you can quantify the word "widely believed" either through an opinion piece. The highest number reported was 13% One Nation preference for Hanson's home state in the listed source - that's not close to widely by any traditional definition. Perhaps a "Her shared political beliefs are noted by some as an Australian oriented version comparable to MTG/Trump". Titaniumman23 (talk) 05:04, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- What's MTG? HiLo48 (talk) 05:18, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

- Thanks. Now I know, but I doubt if most Australians would know who that person is. Not a good comparison to use in an article on an Australian phenomenon. HiLo48 (talk) 01:50, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, I just checked the article and it seems the comparison has been removed altogether anyways. - Yours Faithfully, GA Melbourne ( T | C ) 01:54, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
