The article is shaping nicely. Once we get some reviews and some sales numbers when the game is released, the article will be set. Gears of War 2 17:45, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Metallica

I recall watching a video at E3 on youtube, and they said that they have metallica on here, and he said old metallica, which i'm assuming means before the black album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.23.162.95 (talk) 19:29, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Coheed & White Stripes

My brother -in-law works for Neversoft. and told me that Gravemakers & Gunslingers by Coheed & Cambria and Ball & Biscuit by The White Stripes were going to be in the game. And i happen to be a huge coheed fan which is why he told me this info. so i'm super pumped —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neverletdown809 (talkcontribs) 20:43, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

There is no official confirmation anywhere (or rumor as well) on the internet. Unless we have a site, then C+C/White Stripes are not confirmed yet. Maplejet (talk) 17:48, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Release Date

According to GameStop and some other sources, GHWT is going to be released on October 27th, 2008. AngusYoung219 (talk) 14:24, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Vendor sites are not reliable sources for upcoming releases; they may be right, but only official announcements or a date from a reliable source is needed. --MASEM 15:04, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
In the August 7 issue of Rolling Stone, an article written by Brian Hiatt titled "Rock Games Battle for Bands" lists the release date for GHWT as October 27th on page 12. Not sure if RS is a reliable source for this information, though. GillanTheVillain (talk) 14:39, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

This set list is unconfirmed. And there is no source leading to it. There is however a leak, but it is not confirmed. Tyty1234 (talk) 03:34, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Also, it's likely that the list will be debunked due to Stuff Magazine (if the article is true). Maplejet (talk) 15:40, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Stop posting the "leaked" set list. It has been confirmed false by GameInformer, a more reliable source than that of the list itself, and recent updates support this. Orcaloverbri9 (talk) 06:41, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Stuff Magazine Confirmed Songs

Steve Miller Band - The Joker
Interpol - Obstacle 1
The Doors - Light My Fire
Linkin Park - In The End
Michael Jackson - Beat It
Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings
Confirmed in the new Stuff Magazine --Slicktrick (talk) 06:21, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Can you provide the following details for the magazine for proper referencing?
  • Issue date (month/year is fine)
  • Article title
  • Page number
  • Author, if any.
If you can get us that, we can add in the rest. --MASEM 06:23, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Chris Vance

The link from his name leads to a disambiguation page that only contains links to Chris Vance the politician an Chris Vance the actor; hardly useful for anyone who happens to come across this page so I removed the hyperlink. ENSSB (talk) 02:46, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Black Tide

One of my friends went to a Black Tide concert and caught one of the drummer's sticks. And when he went to get it autographed he asked the drummer if they were gonna be in GH4 and he said "Yeah I think" but when he asked about what song the reply was "I don't know". Think we should add them to the list of confirmed then?--Unknownsage13 (talk) 17:08, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

This is not verifiable. --MASEM 17:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok found an article and posted the facts from it and a link. Can anyone take the link and make it into a reference thing?--Unknownsage13 (talk) 03:00, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
That article only mentions DLC content so not in the game, plus Console Hero is not a reliable source. --MASEM 03:33, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
OMG! You serious? The website owner has direct connection with NeverSoft and it's the most reliable source for GH info. How is that site not trusted but some random survey mentioning Tool is.--Unknownsage13 (talk) 04:15, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Soul Doubt added to official list

If NOFX said that the song was gonna be in shouldn't we add them to the table?--Unknownsage13 (talk) 17:08, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

A band's own website is not sufficient confirmation for this. --MASEM 17:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Whys that?--Unknownsage13 (talk) 19:19, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Any band with their own website could technically state they have a song in GHWT. We need a third-party source to confirm this. --MASEM 19:59, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Misery Business and No Sleep Till Brooklyn

Misery Business was seen briefly in the video of the guys playing Hot For Teacher and No Sleep Till Brooklyn is heard while they selecting their characters. Shouldn't we add those songs?--Unknownsage13 (talk) 17:08, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

We need a reliable source that says these songs were there - so far there hasn't been any. --MASEM 17:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
I think hearing them in the game should be good enough.--Unknownsage13 (talk) 19:19, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh and it even says Rolling Stone mentioned Paramore being in. I think we can put 2-and-2 together. And if Dammit gets a mention I think atleast Misery Business and No Sleep Till Brooklyn should.--Unknownsage13 (talk) 21:43, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Again, we need a reliable source that says that those songs were being played at a demo. The accounts I've seen do not mention this. --MASEM 22:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Stuff Magazine September 2008 Scans

Joystiq.com linked over to the guitarhero.com boards where a user posted up scans from the September issue of Stuff. It confirmed a bunch of new songs, like Light My Fire and Beat It. I updated the soundtrack section, but I'm not really familiar with editing the table, so if anyone wants to clean it up, I'd appreciate it. Skrutop (talk) 18:42, 5 August 2008 (UTC)  Done-Fixed. Linkin Park, The Doors, and Interpol confirmed

Since Linkin Park song was confirmed in the Stuff Magazine article, it can be removed from the section that said they were confirmed in the Game Informer Preview. Also the Doors and Interpol can be removed from the market leak section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.122.87.237 (talk) 20:04, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

New Songs For The Game

According too the Guardian Newspaper, after their enquiries into the lack of female fronted bands, they have leaked that the following songs will appear on the game

Paramore - Misery Business
Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town
Flyleaf - All Around Me

and it mentions a song by Lacuna Coil, however it does not mention which song

Here is the article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/aug/02/popandrock.games

Many Thanks,

There was a fourth one there too ("Heartbreaker" by Pat Benatar) These have all been added. --MASEM 23:11, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
This article is written based on this setlist that was rumored a while back. This list was later discredited by Activision. The "Vixens Tour" comment is the link. Poorly researched piece by the Guardian's author. -- TRTX T / C 23:25, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

IGN Article Leaks

http://wii.ign.com/articles/897/897356p1.html Says that Paramore-Misery Business, Metallica-Trapped Under Ice, Black Label Society-Stillborn, Airbourne-Too Much Too Young..., Dinosaur Jr.-Feel The Pain, Survivor-Eye of the Tiger, Linkin Park-What I've Done, Blink-182 - Dammit, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club-Weapon of Choice, Bob Seger-Hollywood Nights, Silversun Pickups-Lazy Eye, The Doors-Love Me Two Times, and The Eagles-Hotel California will be in. Can someone check to see if this is reliable and then add the info and link in?--Unknownsage13 (talk) 23:29, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Oh and System of a Down-BYOB--Unknownsage13 (talk) 23:33, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, just make sure to reference it. I do question where the second list has come from (first most of those tracks have been confirmed), but the site and author are reliable, so that's fine. --MASEM 00:11, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Is there any reason the Linkin Park song wasn't changed by The Doors song was? I think that both of the said songs for each artist should be in into further notice.--Unknownsage13 (talk) 00:40, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
This article seems odd to me...Alot of the songs that the article said were previously weren't and now we have multiple songs for one artist. Anyone else think this is odd?71.122.87.237 (talk) 04:25, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I think neither probaly the Stuff magazine was incorrect. But it could just be that IGN didn't look at Stuff magazine to find out some bands/songs.--Unknownsage13 (talk) 11:16, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Could one of the unlocked editors correct the spelling of "Dammit" in the soundtrack table and link it to the song's article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bdebes (talkcontribs) 11:52, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Release Date (2nd disscussion)

Currently all that is listed under release date is:

Release date Fall 2008

I have three problems with this

1. It doesn't mention which region it refers to

2. There's no such thing as "fall" in my vocabulary, perhaps you meant Autumn, but even then, autumn 2008 is already over for half the globe

3. There is no reference. Release dates have already been added and removed because no reliable sources were cited.

I haven't removed these, but will tomorrow if a source can't be referenced and no one beats me to it. 203.35.251.18 (talk) 06:19, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Expand your vocabulary. Fall refers to Autumn in North American English (see Fall). btw that also explains your region complaint. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.122.87.237 (talk) 06:37, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Autumn From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Fall)

Had a look. This word only exists in American English, so I'll treat it as slang. But I wouldn't stick autumn in there either, Q3 would be better, as there is no grounds for mis-interpretation. 203.35.251.18 (talk) 06:49, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Didn't it already say October? Since they said in just a year after Guitar Hero 3 at the E3 conference. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.73.95.148 (talk) 07:04, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

I had posted this up above in another talk point named "Release Date", and I guess wanted to re-iterate to make sure the information was relayed --
In the August 7 issue of Rolling Stone, an article written by Brian Hiatt titled "Rock Games Battle for Bands" lists the release date for GHWT as October 27th on page 12. Not sure if RS is a reliable source for this information, though. GillanTheVillain (talk) 14:07, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Source it correctly and add it. Shapiros10 contact meMy work 14:16, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
LMAO, Fall is not slang. Just because a word only exists in American English doesn't mean it's slang. You've just offended over 100 million people. --98.217.61.141 (talk) 20:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

It Is Released Fall 2008 So If You Got A Problem With that Dont Buy The Game! As Long as Its Released This Year everythings fine. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.233.213 (talk) 19:54, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

List number of announced songs

Just wondering if there is a reason a number of announced songs isn't listed with the soundtrack. I've always thought it was a good way to keep track of when new songs are announced, instead of relying on comparing histories or scanning the list to see if there are any recognizably new ones. I'll change it, but if it needs to be taken down, so be it. GillanTheVillain (talk) 18:53, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

I think it would be a good idea to note that many of the songs in the list could possibly be just rumors, instaed of saying that these are all confirmed songs.(Wolfemiester (talk) 02:29, 12 August 2008 (UTC))

All the songs listed in the table are confirmed by reliable sources. The ones that aren't confirmed are left in the paragraphs following. --MASEM 04:01, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Adding "confirmed" Songs

People are adding songs that are "confirmed" with such loose sources. There was so much inaccuracy with the guitar hero 3 list, and this one is looking just as bad. I can guarantee you all those artists don't have 2 songs in the game... Jimi Hendrix was acceptable, but no way in hell Linkin Park is getting 2 songs.

It could explain why they're promising 90+ songs, and it's more than a couple of isolated accidents, so it does make sense. The list has 2 Hendrix, 2 LP, 2 Doors, 2 Eddie Van Halen (Hot For Teacher and Beat It), 2 Travis Barker, and THREE Ozzy (if you include backings in Stillborn). It looks like a trend, something the developers probably decided on intentionally. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we saw more multiples from the boss characters... a second Pumpkins, Nugent, Paramore, and/or Wylde.66.209.135.115 (talk) 00:41, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
