Adding some information to Gresham Kirkby page

[edit]

I added a blog address to Fr Kirkby's page. The blog contains details of my memories of Fr Kirkby. The blog address was removed. I suppose Wikipedia doesn't allow blog addresses as valid information? Ok. Perhaps I can see this policy prevents 'made-up' or mis-information blogs being advertised. But I knew Fr Kirkby for 17 years in his later years. I was a lodger at the vicarage for about a year, and was an altar server at St Paul's Bow Common: the information in the blog is first hand knowledge of incidents and conversations involving Fr Kirkby, plus a few things Fr Kirkby has written. It is real information about Fr Kirkby. Just to note here that Wikipedia doesn't accommodate such sources of information, though, again, I can see some sense in that. The blog address that was not allowed on Wikipedia would come up on an internet search. Steve1173 (talk) 08:46, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Steve1173, as you have discovered and realised, Wikipedia does have strong policies related to your edits. If you want to read up on them they include Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:External links.
Given your possible conflict of interest it may be best if you suggest changes on this talk page rather than edit the article directly. If you can back up ypur suggestions with reliable sources it is more likely they will get incorporated.
You could use your first hand knowledge to find the most suitable sources I suppose, as you probably have a better understanding of the subject than most. Commander Keane (talk) 23:44, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
