Giuseppe di Capua → Giuseppe Di Capua – In Italian the surname is with "Di" capital.--Kasper2006 (talk) 07:24, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- I don't doubt that that's the Italian practice, but I'm not sure it's followed in English. None of the sources on the article capitalize his name thus. Compare to Robin van Persie, Leonardo da Vinci, Ludwig van Beethoven. List of Italians seems to mostly follow the current capitalization. There's also Daniele De Rossi, though. What evidence do you have for your proposed title? --BDD (talk) 18:16, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Because I live in Italy. (in Italian) see this. The "de" is usually used for noble families. --Kasper2006 (talk) 18:47, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support There's no mention of this kind of case at WP:BIRTHNAME, the nearest mention being
the name by which the subject is most commonly known
. The naming conventions state that all frequently used names should be included. In this case, that would mean including in the lead "Giuseppe di Capua (Giuseppe Di Capua in Italian)", which is rather nonsensical. Therefore, regardless of the English language sources, it's sensible to reflect the actual name as used in the foreign language. -- Trevj (talk) 09:44, 26 October 2012 (UTC) - Support. Sure, the one source (referenced three times) in the article uses lower case, but Sports Reference capitalizes it. With this kind of disagreement between the English-language sources, I lean towards the Italian spelling. Favonian (talk) 12:44, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
