@GRuban: I'm puzzled by your approval of this article. I re-checked some of the sources after your approval, and I noticed some issues with them. I still stand by my disapproval of this person's notability. Perhaps you can tell me why I'm wrong about this article. --George Ho (talk) 20:27, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I could have sworn that you had left it open for another reviewer to disagree. Must have misread that part. OK, then.
They're indepth coverage, you'll notice they don't just cover his baking, they cover where he comes from, his family, his job, etc.
They're continued coverage, not a flash in the pan , you'll notice a non-trivial Times article a year after his victory. Read it - the dude is dining (luncheoning?) with royalty.
They're not even WP:BLP1E due to the fact that he gets continued coverage for independent things he's doing, hosting Bake Off Italia and writing a cookbook.
He's pretty comparable to, oh, the various Category:Miss America winners; Category:Miss_USA_winners; and so forth. They initially get their coverage from winning an important contest, but that coverage is sufficiently indepth that we generally consider it sufficient. You'll notice we have an article on basically every one of those, and if you compare them to this article, you'll notice this article has more coverage than many of those. Many of them didn't do anything notable after their term; he did. Many Miss Americas/USAs/Universes/etc parlayed that fame into acting or modeling or television journalism or politics, but many didn't; we still have articles on the ones that didn't, they're just shorter. He has clearly gone forward with his fame. Sure, hosting Bake Off Italia and dining with royalty and writing a cookbook may not have originally sufficed in and of themselves, but in addition to winning the contest in 2021, they suffice. --GRuban (talk) 21:11, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
winning the contest in 2021 I appreciate your analysis, but I disagree that winning the 2021 contest, appearing in Bake Off Italia (as a guest), and a cookbook are sufficient especially for a stand-alone article. I created the list of The Great British Bake Off finalists in hopes that any more articles about winners would be prevented. I must have underestimated. When do you think is the best time to propose redirecting the article to the list? I thought about proposing it soon. George Ho (talk) 21:23, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're clearly proposing it now. I respectfully demur. In the end, it's whether he gets continued coverage. He has gotten that continued coverage. --GRuban (talk) 21:27, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
