Childhood

[edit]

A recent edit stated that Samaras spent some of his childhood in Melbourne. His father Yiannis did, but Georgios Samaras did not. [1]. Oldelpaso 09:13, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stats

[edit]

Debut goal for Celtic removed as goals and appearances are LEAGUE ONLY.

Being Dis-Crete?

[edit]

For his birthplace, should it be Heraklion,Greece, or should it be Heraklion, Crete, Greece? Oakley77 (talk) 19:06, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Style of Play

[edit]

His style of play section is poorly written and heavily biased. Clean it up seeing as when i do it its considered vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.123.129 (talk) 10:16, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Review

[edit]

Generally good, a few small things:

  • Check any edits I make in copyediting.
  • Please provide retrieval dates for web references (you've got a lot done, but there are many more).
  • Ref #78 needs fixing. (Other references' formatting is inconsistent, {{cite web}} would help but this isn't a GA criterion. Caps should be avoided, and the same site is regularly referenced a different way.)
  • Ref #116 needs more information; refs #117 and #118 are the same.
  • Images are all fine (although File:PA110119Samaras.jpg is pretty poor quality-wise).
  • A couple of citations needed where indicated.
  • Source check:
  • Article: "However, after his move to Celtic, Samaras was more open to playing as a left midfielder. The Daily Mail said that this was because he was happier at Celtic and more willing to be a team player."
  • Source: "Against Feyenoord, Samaras was deployed wide left as Strachan again tinkered with his system but, after that unhappy spell at Manchester City, the 23-year-old is happy to play anywhere for the common good."
Conclusion: Fine.

Not much to do here. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 09:53, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note the sources for the two cns you added are in the next paragraph. Also I'm afraid a lot of the refs aren't done by me (I always use the same citenews template) and aren't fromatted as I'd like. Should I add the accesdate as now for the ones that don't already have it. I also fixed the two refs you pointed out and did a minor ce. Adam4267 (talk) 13:23, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You should check the webpage still exists and says what it ought to; then today's accessdate would be accurate. It's supposed to be the last day the webpage definitely verified the information given, think of it like that. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 13:28, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
All refs now formatted properly. Adam4267 (talk) 15:58, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Found some good pics on commons. Will add them later tonight. Adam4267 (talk) 16:01, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Photographs are fine. Do remember to address the citation needed tags, though. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 15:17, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

career stats table

[edit]

The SPL is called the Premiership now, and is a completely different entity. Can someone edit the table accordingly? Salty1984 (talk) 22:25, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Style of play section

[edit]

I'm not happy about the last paragraph in this section;

"In a survey among F.C. Barcelona fans done in 2013, it was found that Samaras is the favorite of the fans to join the team. Among the reasons mentioned were his speed and technique."[1][2]

Surely this should be deleted; it's just tabloid media hyperbole (in other words, complete and utter p*sh!)

Any thoughts? ShugSty (talk) 23:07, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see this has now been deleted by another editor. I didn't like to delete it on my own bat without highlighting it here first - but I feel the article is the better for its removal.ShugSty (talk) 14:46, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
