Sisters
How could something so basic as the fact that Lucas has THREE sisters be left off this bio? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.248.214.103 (talk) 00:35, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
Social Science
In Charlie Rose interview at Chicago Ideas Week Lucas said that at junior college he studied mostly the social sciences, including anthropology. He thought he was going to go to SF State for Anthropology, but got accepted to USC film program. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.76.67.233 (talk) 00:32, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
Not Jewish
A lot of people think George Lucas is Jewish (perhaps confusing him with friend and frequent collaborator in cinema, Steven Spielberg). He's actually Methodist/Buddhist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.174.141.218 (talk) 16:58, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
== Spamming Issue While editing this page, I came across a repeated entry onto the blacklist which wouldn't allow me to post. When I removed the offending link, it re-appeared upon saving the page. The section it appears in is:
The word shows up as a green anchor link around the word "dating" and triggers the blacklist filter when I go to do my save. Upon checking my browser (fresh install), there was no reason for that link to persist on my end. Red Heron (talk) 17:05, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Many talented and successful persons in the film industry were Jewish or had Jewish ancestry. George Lucas may not adhere to the Jewish faith, but who has a Jewish mother is regarded as Jewish. George Lucas’ mothers’ birth name was Bomberger. Bomberg is a Jewish surname, cf. http://www.avotaynu.com/books/MenkNames.htm. Bomberger appears to be a Jewish name, too, probably also derived from the city of Bamberg in Germany. In German, the “a” in “Bamberg” is pronounced like the “o” in “Bomberg”, not like the “a” in “ram”. Likewise, Bamberg and Bamberger are Jewish surnames, cf. http://www.avotaynu.com/books/MenkNames.htm. “Bomberger” seems like an anglicized version of the German name or word “Bamberger”. In German, a male person from the city of Bamberg is called a “Bamberger”. In the Middle Ages, when many surnames came into existence, there was a large Jewish community in Bamberg, cf. http://jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/2422-bamberg. If George Lucas’ mother had a Jewish birth name, this doesn’t necessarily mean that she was Jewish, but the name “Bomberger” indicates Jewish ancestry, cf. http://genealogy.familyeducation.com/surname-origin/bomberger http://names.mooseroots.com/l/29500/Bomberger http://www.hebrewsurnames.com/BOMBERGER
When I googled “Bomberger Jewish name”, I found a seemingly Jewish person named Bomberger: https://twitter.com/anshelbomberger http://ejewishphilanthropy.com/orthodox-and-out-of-the-closet/. (Anshel is a Jewish first name.)
Still, it would be interesting to know, 1. if someone knows a scientific source which confirms that Bomberger is a Jewish name, and 2. if George Lucas’ mother was indeed Jewish or had Jewish ancestors.

Bomberger is no more a "Jewish" surname than it is Christian. At least half of all the Bombergers listed in this Obituary search are Christian. Probably the vast majority if not all are Christian, as the other half don't have any information on their religious affiliation. In fact, none show any evidence of being Jewish. Indeed, some relatives of the deceased even have names like, "Christian Bomberger". Yeah, that sounds real Jewish there, guys.
Bomberger appears to be a German Christian surname almost exclusively. The previous links claiming it was "Jewish" are not credible sources (and they don't claim that the surname is exclusively Jewish anyway). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ammonitida (talk • contribs) 14:23, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

SF Hall of Fame induction
Regarding the SF Hall of Fame class of 2006 including Lucas and three others, in the article I have provided two references contemporary to the advance announcement. Among many google hits, these two have independent content. They provide inconsistent dates; AWN News seems to be correct.
Here are some references contemporary to the induction which may have supplementary or replacement value here.

Error needs correcting
The problem with this article being locked is that it contains as least one questionable claim. There were, so far as I can discover, NO CGI revision to American Graffiti. In the commentary on the BR disc, Lucas talks about how scenes that were in his original cut were dropped by the studio, and how he restored them to home video editions. The only source I can find on the web to support the claim of CGI enhancements is a blogger who claims that the opening shot/title shot has had the sunset brightened behind the drive-in. But that's just the blogger's judgement, and no actual evidence is offered to support the claim, other than the blogger's memory (also not supported by a direct claim) of the original theatrical showing. My memory of the original theatrical prints differs significantly. The sunset was always there, but scanning for the BR now allows it to be seen properly, whereas in previous editions it couldn't. So whoever is in charge of the locks on this page, I would recommend deletion of the claim that American Graffiti has been altered by CGI; it hasn't. And even if the opening shot was brightened, that's not CGI; that's just one of the things you can do when you scan in a print, because often the data is there on the film, and just needs a small adjustment for it to be brought out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theonemacduff (talk • contribs) 23:11, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Linda Ronstadt 'engagement'
I have removed the claim that Lucas was engaged to Linda Ronstadt for the following reasons:
- Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons states that Contentious material about living persons (or recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion.
- There is no evidence Lucas ever stated he was engaged to Ronstadt.
- There is no reliable evidence that Ronstadt ever stated she was engaged to Lucas.
- There is an oft-repeated quote, "ring on the finger and all", which Ronstadt apparently said about their engagement, but this quote:
- only ever occurs in editorial text, not directly stated by Ronstadt
- does not appear in any reputable sources
- is never referenced to any primary source of who Ronstadt supposedly said this to, it is simply repeated over and over until it has become accepted as fact.
- There is actually little public evidence that they even dated, with apparently no photos in existence of the couple together. This seems surprising if they really were engaged to be married.
Therefore the claim of their engagement should not be reinstated until a reliable primary source is found to substantiate it.

Networth needs looking into
George lucas just made 4.05 billion, Over his career he must of made over a billion dollars, his net worth can not just be the sale made today, can some one verify this? his net worth in reality would be much closer to 5 billion (look at speilberg)
same person here, in addition this older page on lucas says he donated over 100Million to a cause, this was before he sold the company. so he must of had hundredns of millions outside lucasfilm http://www.forbes.com/profile/george-lucas/
PIcture of Chandran Rutnam should be deleted
Why the hell is this picture on the George Lucas page? Rutnam is a minor player, at best, in Lucas' life, and is not even mentioned in the text of the article. It should be deleted since the only purpose in putting it there is to provide a link to Rutnam's own Wikipedia page, which in turn, reads like it was written by a pal of the source, i.e., it reads like a PR bio. Maybe Rutnam is an important film-maker in Sri Lanka, but so what? That doesn't entitle him to piggy-back on the fame of world-renowed figure.Theonemacduff (talk) 16:28, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Shareholding in Disney
He's not the second largest shareholder in Disney he's the second largest "individual", or "non-institutional", shareholder. He has about a 2.2% stake. --212.149.48.42 (talk) 09:24, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- You are correct. The cited reference (http://blogs.wsj.com/corporate-intelligence/2012/10/30/the-mouse-and-the-wookie-lucas-becomes-a-big-disney-shareholder/) states that Lucas is Disney's second larges "single" shareholder, and the sentence in the lead should be qualified as such. Education
George Lucas graduated from USC in August of 1966, not in 1967. He did not attend the Fall 1966 semester but enrolled in graduate school in Spring 1967. Statement 39
The new sequel trilogy is being jointly produced by Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Company, which had acquired Lucasfilm in 2012.[39]
If the new sequel is being jointly produced then the two companies are not one immediately before the statement concludes that Disney acquired Lucasfilm which in most realities is understood that they are one once one acquires the other. Hard to believe I must point this out.

So I come to notice that there's no citation for Star Wars being based off of the Hidden Fortress. The documentary, Empire of Dreams, (citation below), explains that Star Wars is based off several works including Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress, Flash Gordon and various World War II films he used as visual reference and a compilation of mythological works he reinterpreted into the story of the Jedi.
However, the main issue is just that there was no citation for this. The DVD the documentary can be found on is the 2004 Special Edition Trilogy Collection of Star Wars.
