Serious Pov issues
[edit]There is some serious POV-pushing in this article, mostly concerning the qualities of the subject. I have removed some, but a few issues remain outstanding, be it that he was "blessed with considerable diplomatic skills..." or hugely successful in business. Perhaps as a result of the POV agenda, there's also considerable WP:OR involved (cites to the London Gazette in particular).—Brigade Piron (talk) 10:15, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

- "In 1926 de Guingand volunteered for service on secondment with the King's African Rifles." - Is there a link for secondment?
- Yes, secondment, per WP:WHAAOE. Linked. (At the Hood it was called it TDY - you may be more familiar with that term.) Hawkeye7 (discuss) 01:56, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- "he was appointed as Eighth Army's Brigadier General Staff (Operations) vice Brigadier Jock Whiteley." - I'm finding this phrase confusing. It may just be comprehension issues on my part, though.
- See Staff_(military)#British_and_Commonwealth_staff. The British staff was divided into G and A&Q branches. The BGS was the head of the G branch. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 01:56, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- "his wife Arlie was understandably unimpressed with austere post-war Britain" - I'm concerned that "understandably" may be editorializing here, may be best to leave the word out.
- Deleted. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 01:56, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
Sourcing and image licensing looks fine.
Not much to nitpick on here; good work. Hog Farm Talk 01:25, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

- Hi Hawkeye7, what an excellent article! Promoted GA on 16 May; well written, cited inline throughout; I don't have access to the offline sources but I did a spotcheck on some of those available to me and found no issues with overly close paraphrasing; hook is interesting enough for me and supported by a great photo (though some may consider it not suitable at small scale, I like it); source used in article for hook is offline but the IWM photo listing here confirms the fact; image is appropriately and freely licensed; a QPQ has been carried out. Looks fine to me - Dumelow (talk) 09:41, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
