[edit]Who ever did this page has to be carful of the facts beacause the Focus has been in the top 20 selling cars in Australia for about 3-4years, and as for small cars the Fiesta is also very compeditive in sales.
Some mention of the Italian-Australian Capri of the early 90's would be a good idea methinks. --Falcadore 07:37, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Which burk put that the '72 Falcon was the first all-Australian one? Guh, careful of the facts indeed! Kajifox 06:59, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Should this article mention Holden in the lede?
[edit]I think not. Mentioning the cars which were badge engineered to provide models is not the same thing.

Build a consensus? Why bother trying? So I can get a lot lot of other one-eyed Ford fans to tell me which FACTS I can and cannot put on this page? Shoppingkart (talk) 19:24, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- It is how wiki works. if you don't like it, that is a shame. Greglocock (talk) 22:14, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- Another self-appointed moderator. All Victorians think their shit doesn't stink. Shoppingkart (talk) 23:26, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- Well that made me laugh. You could have posted"Wawawa I didn't get my own way. It's not fair mum, they're picking on me." Grow up Greglocock (talk) 00:45, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- That made you laugh? Some people are amused by the simplest things. Do shiny things distract you? What is with the schoolyard theatricals, Greg? You are telling me to grow up? Pot-kettle. Now that's laughable...Shoppingkart (talk) 08:30, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Ford Motor Company of Australia → Ford Australia – As per WP:Common name. --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 01:30, 8 June 2015 (UTC) OSX (talk • contributions) 23:19, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

- I'm not proposing a deletion, just a rename. This article was titled "Ford Australia" until 2007 [1]. It also keeps the name inline with other abbreviated names like Toyota Australia (Toyota Motor Corporation Australia), Chrysler Australia, Mitsubishi Motors Australia, etc. See also: Talk:Nissan#Requested move for a previous discussion to truncate "Motor Company" from the title of another automaker. OSX (talk • contributions) 22:12, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
- As per a Google search (with the quotation marks included), "Ford Motor Company of Australia" brings 63,400 results. "Ford Australia" gives 578,000 results. OSX (talk • contributions) 22:15, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
- Support. I agree the proposed title is the most common name in reliable sources. Jenks24 (talk) 20:28, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Unique engines.
[edit]A user has twice removed the cited information stating that "Ford Australia was the only Australian car manufacturer to design and manufacture its own unique high-volume engines" The edit summary states - "The Grey Motors from 1948-63 were unique to Holden. The Red 6 cyl , 253 and 308 / 5 Litre V8s were unique to Holden." I have no knowledge as to which is true, but regardless, a reference is needed. Any comments.--Dmol (talk) 10:06, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- Maybe I am suffering from it getting late in the evening, but I do not see that claim in the reference provided[2] so I'd consider removing it or tagging it as "not in citation given". It also doesn't belong in the lead. --Scott Davis Talk 12:16, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- Claims like 'the only.,..' are often found in badly researched articles. There's no doubt that historically holden designed to some extent and manufactured engines in large numbers. So if the ref Claims different it is wrong. All we need is a ref that discusses holden engines. Greglocock (talk) 19:50, 16 August 2016 (UTC) Greglocock (talk) 19:50, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, I see that some humorist has caused this by changing 'is', to 'was'. The original sentence was 'Ford Australia is the only Australian car manufacturer...' . It was true a year ago, but is no longer the case as the engine plant has shut down. I'm inclined to blow the entire sentence away. Greglocock (talk) 23:32, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- And I agree with Scott and ShoppingKart, the ref doesn't support the assertion, and the assertion is wrong as written. So I'll delete it.Greglocock (talk) 08:37, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Heidelberg plant
[edit]There's a mention in the entry of a plant at Heidelberg, Victoria. Please can someone tell us more? When did it open, what did they do there and when/why did it close? I realise I could probably find out for myself with half an hour of googling, but I figured that if I asked the question here it might get picked up on by someone who actually knows about it (though yes, the odd supportive source is always nice to have).
Thank you. Especially if you did.
