Linking to songs for playback
[edit]I added in links for several songs that would allow playback of the tracks listed. I thought it was really great to be able to listen to the original songs from this page. Is there a philosophical reason against linking to media? Is it wrong to link to 3rd-party sites? Commercial sites? Would it be ok to link to YouTube videos instead? I argue that being able to get to the original music sources is really beneficial to the understanding and appreciation of the Girl Talk creations. Some direction on this would be helpful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.126.238.187 (talk) 02:55, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Sample at 2:05 in "Shut The Club Down"
[edit]The sample is not Cold War Kids "Hang Me Out To Dry" its Butthole Surfers "Pepper". I'm pretty sure on this, but didn't want to change anything. If anyone agrees please change. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.207.253.101 (talk) 18:21, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
I agree, it's "Pepper".Nips (talk) 19:15, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Looks like I'm the third person to agree on this. I shall change it. acbrog —Preceding comment was added at 02:10, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Guitar Sample at 2:27 in "Play Your Part (Pt. 1)"
[edit]- The guitar is very recognizable and sounds like Weezer but I can't place it at the moment. Any ideas? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bzoooty (talk • contribs) 03:22, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it's just the guitar from We're Not Gonna Take It. My little needle (talk) 16:30, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Daft Punk Sample in "Hands in the Air"
[edit]Starts at 2:38 exactly, with the new measure. I'm not positive, but I swear I hear a Daft Punk sample mixed pretty low with the phased guitars. Definitely sounds like their Roland VP-9000. Ifthe21stcentury (talk) 01:35, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- I can't hear anything that's distinctly Daft Punk that isn't "Music Sounds Better with You". I think that's just more Stardust, which one half of Daft Punk--Thomas Bangalter--is big a part of. -Eric Silva (talk) 19:53, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Back beat during Yael Naim in "No Pause"
[edit]Does any body know what they back beat is during the beginning of the song? If it is eminem I think the time of start should be changed... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.139.35.250 (talk) 12:57, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Sample of "Good Life" at the beginning of Track 3
[edit]I really don't hear it. I removed it twice but it keeps getting added back. Anyone care to point out exactly what is sampled? -DMurphy (talk) 07:59, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Pretty sure it's the back drums/beat 168.215.214.182 (talk) 15:23, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
I agree. It's at about 75% speed. I didn't think it was there either, but after side by side comparison, it definitely is.Kmllbl (talk) 21:23, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Sample of Windowlicker In Track 10
[edit]Is the beat from Windowlicker by Aphex Twin playing starting at 1:50 and lasting for a while?Boredfairy (talk) 22:33, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- The beat comes from INXS - Need You Tonight. Windowlicker is similar but not exactly the same. -DMurphy (talk) 02:33, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Sample of Rihanna's "Please Don't Stop The Music" at 2:53 in "Hands in the Air"
[edit]or is this some older sample? seems unlikely. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.161.237.61 (talk) 14:29, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- No, it's from Michael Jackson. Also see Please Don't Stop The Music#Music and structure --91.16.39.116 (talk) 11:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Sample at 2:05 in "Don't Stop"
[edit]This sounds like a small second clip of Dave Grohl screaming in "Breakout" by Foo Fighters. I'm not sure though. I added it and it was removed. It does sound like Grohl's voice though. Could it be another Foo Fighters song? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.102.20.134 (talk) 15:09, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- No, the clip comes from Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak, which is already credited. It's from about 3/4 through the song when the lead singer yells "Breakout!" -DMurphy (talk) 02:39, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Stop Times?
[edit]Would it be too difficult to also have the times that the samples end?
- yes —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.7.40.37 (talk) 00:46, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
-I think stop times are just as important, and would be very helpful, at least for anything with lyrics. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.31.248.215 (talk) 02:45, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Seamless mp3 version Times?
[edit]Similar to the stop times request above, would it be too difficult to also have the times that each sample starts on the seamless mp3 version? Yolfer (talk) 21:55, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- You can just take the cumulative elapsed time of each prior song and add it to the elapsed time within the song in a separate column. An Excel spreadsheet would make short work of this task. TWCarlson (talk) 15:23, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Fake Album Release
[edit]Someone smarter than me should probably write up that the widely distributed version of Feed The Animals is fake, created by someone named Speakymusic. More can be found HERE. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.25.148.196 (talk) 20:46, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
The fake was released back in March, 2008, but the real one was released in June, 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.92.184.203 (talk) 17:29, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Don Caballero sample?
[edit]I understand both Girl Talk and Don Caballero are both from Pittsburgh, but the claim that at 1:45 during "In Step," that "Palm Trees in the Fecking Bahamas" is sampled cannot be verified, especially when listening to both back to back. It has been removed from the page twice to date, so the talk of this will be moved here. The guitar melody and rhythm are similar. But the picking style and tone is entirely different; moreso staccato on the sample used on "In Step" than on the Don Cab track. Also, the drums, bass, and 2nd guitar that would be present if Don Caballero were sampled, are not. Unless Girl Talk managed to get raw tracks from Don Caballero of the album, "World Class Listening Problem," or the sampling of "Palm Trees..." is taken from an unknown live recording, it cannot be verified that this sample is used. Thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.102.20.134 (talk) 23:50, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
The Girl Talk sample sounds really different. It sounds like it comes from an old funk song or something. ---Julian (talk) 07:02, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Unverified tags is FUTILE
[edit]He (the artists)'s not gonna put a long list of sampled songs and say "here's the stuff I stole from" on the web so this article can authoritatively reference it, so having the "original research/unverified claims" tag on the article is stupid. Either it goes now, or it stay forever, because it will always be unverified. It's not a non-notable subj so that article is clearly staying. The people who have listened to the album have accurately identified the source material used, because they know the songs in question, and I've found no mistakes. But the idea that this is gonna be citable is ridiculous. --81.105.242.11 (talk) 02:29, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Synth sample at 0:30 in "In Step"
[edit]I don't think it's Ralph MacDonald, but rather The Magnetic Fields' "Fido, Your Leash is too Long." Furiousdreams (talk) 07:12, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
No, it's neither. It's Deee-Lite's "Groove Is in the Heart" which samples Ralph MacDonald. Holiday56 (talk) 02:18, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Sample List
[edit]What happened to the sample list of the album that was sorted by track time in this article? Why was it taken down? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.231.48.169 (talk) 07:45, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately it was original research with no reliable source. Since one of the fundamental principles of Wikipedia is verifiability, it was taken down. There is a lot of discussion about it on Talk:All Day Worm 11:25, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Why was the actual track list removed with it as well? ♫ Douglasr007 (talk) 07:01, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- Can't see any reason the track listing is absent. I have returned it to the articleWorm 08:58, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- Why was the actual track list removed with it as well? ♫ Douglasr007 (talk) 07:01, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Reproduction of the complete sample list here
[edit]The sample list was removed from the arcticle because it was Original Research. However since it was the main reason people came to the page, and it was all accurate, I'm reproducing it here so it's easier for everyone to find. Sorry about the inconsistent formatting, I'm not a regular wikipedian. Phixxor (talk) 19:45, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
