Remove "successful" from opening sentence. As also noted above, it is vague and subjective. 31.111.47.90 (talk) 06:03, 13 September 2022 (UTC) 31.111.47.90 (talk) 06:03, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the
edit extended-protected
template. NytharT.C 22:13, 13 September 2022 (UTC) - Done. I removed it not because I think it is incorrect, but because it feels awkward in the first sentence. It would be better to add more detail to the first paragraph describing the results. I also changed the result in the infobox to standard terminology 'Israeli victory' which I think any military historian would agree with. –CWenger (^ • @) 00:37, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Yonatan Netanyahu
The German Wikipedia claims, that Yonatan Netanyahu was the Israeli commando who shot on the two Ugandian soldiers at the beginning of the operation and was killed in return fire. This version is also in the article about him, together with the alternative version of him beeing killed later on. Shouldn't that be integrated here, too? 109.43.51.214 (talk) 13:38, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

In the first sentence, please remove
counter-terrorist hostage-rescue
and add
counter-terrorist hostage-rescue
Since this phrase is at the very beginning of the article, understanding these terms (which is impaired by line breaks) is particularly important, and the presence of the infobox guarantees that the width of the first paragraph is narrower, increasing the number of line breaks and making it more likely (versus text elsewhere in the article) that one or the other of these hyphen-linked terms will be subject to a line break. 123.51.107.94 (talk) 22:16, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

In this paragraph:
The raid could not proceed without assistance from at least one East African government. The Israeli government secured permission from Kenya for the IDF task force to cross Kenyan airspace and refuel at what is today Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Kenyan Minister of Agriculture Bruce MacKenzie persuaded Kenyan President Kenyatta to permit Mossad to collect intelligence prior to the operation, and to allow the Israeli Air Force access to the Nairobi airport.[56] MacKenzie's support for the operation came after Sir Maurice Oldfield, the then head of Britain's MI6 intelligence agency, put his contacts in Mossad in touch with MacKenzie, who had been an MI6 contact for some time.[57] The Jewish owner of the Block hotels chain in Kenya, along with other members of the Jewish and Israeli community in Nairobi, may also have used their political and economic influence to help persuade Kenya's President Jomo Kenyatta to help Israel.
Please change "President Kenyatta" to "President Jomo Kenyatta" (and add a link to him), and then at the very end, change President Jomo Kenyatta to President Kenyatta and remove the link. It's odd to give his first name and a link in his second appearance in the paragraph. 123.51.107.94 (talk) 22:21, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

Operation Entebbe → Entebbe raid – Per WP:MILMOS#CODENAME and WP:COMMONNAME - operation names generally make poor titles, and here, the operation is not even the most common name, Entebbe raid is by a fairly wide historical margin. It is also not the correct operation name, since it was actually "Operation Thunderbolt", hence Operation Thunderbolt (film), or Mivtsa Yonaton (lit. Operation Jonathan) in Hebrew. Possibly in part due to this already ridiculous degree of operational name confusion, 'Entebbe raid' is the matter-of-fact name in other tertiary sources, such as Britannica, and 'raid' is prevalent in the other film title, and review articles 40 years on [1] [2]. "Entebbe raid" continues to persist widely in editorial usage to this day: [3] [4] [5] Iskandar323 (talk) 06:31, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
- Support. No reason to use a military codename when a more descriptive and potentially more common name is available. –CWenger (^ • @) 21:58, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
Mimouni
Are these refer to the same person? What is the proper spelling, then?
Separation of Jewish hostages and non-Jewish hostages: "French-Israeli dual citizen Jean-Jacques Mimouni" Hostage rescue "Jean-Jacques Maimoni, a 19-year-old French immigrant to Israel, stood up and was killed when Muki Betser and another soldier mistook him for a hijacker and fired at him." Delete the repeated sentence in the second paragraph. It says “the militants took hostages with the stated objective of compelling the release of 40 Palestinian militants imprisoned in Israel as well as the release of 13 prisoners in four other countries.[10] The hijackers had the stated objective to free 40 Palestinian and affiliated militants imprisoned in Israel and 13 prisoners in four other countries in exchange for the hostages.[10]” Hedgeman (talk) 05:06, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Add "PLO" meaning not only as acronym
The article refers to the Palestine Liberation Organization in several places only using the Acronym "PLO".
I'm ignorant enough to have stumbled over this in the article and had to spend a couple of minutes to find out what it is. Please just use "Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)" wherever "PLO" is used first in the article, once the article is unlocked again :). Thanks. MartinFleck (talk) 07:54, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
Edit request for info box error
The info box should say 4 dead including Dora Bloch, not 3. The sources saying 3 are not including her as her death as it was not confirmed until quite some time after the raid. The article itself lists 3 dead hostages other than her. TaqPCR (talk) 04:21, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
- Fixed. –CWenger (^ • @) 14:14, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
The lead says “Palestinian-led”…
The lead calls it a “Palestinian-led hijacking”, but the text says there were four hijackers, of whom two were German and two Palestinian. Calling it a “Palestinian-led hijacking” in the lead therefore seems misleading, to say the least… 176.12.140.121 (talk) 19:22, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- Their aim was the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the Palestinian hijackers appear to have been the leaders. (Hohum @) 19:58, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed. I just removed "Palestinian-led"; I agree it's misleading and the hijackers are described in the next sentence anyway. –CWenger (^ • @) 20:03, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Change "One of the dead hostages, Dora Bloch, had been murdered" To "One of the dead hostages, Dora Bloch, was murdered" The first sentence gives the impression that she was already dead when the raid happened, which is false.--HeloPait (talk) 19:15, 20 April 2024 (UTC) HeloPait (talk) 19:15, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
