MidCat gas pipeline is dead?
[edit]This source seems to say or imply that the MidCat gas pipeline is totally killed off as an intragovernmental project of the nation states of Portugal, Spain and France. from 20 October 2022: Joint statement by on energy interconnections. They "decided to abandonc the #Midcat project and instead create, as a matter of priority, a Green Energy Corridor".
As an observer from outside the region of Europe, I don't understand how big projects are funded? Does it always have to be political? Can not a private company decide that their is economic value over the long term in doing a project like a gas pipeline, choose to expend private capital to do the project, apply for regulatory authority approvals as needed, and either build the thing or not based on all that? Is this not possible in European political economy? N2e (talk) 12:38, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
