From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

1. A case for calling it "Elf Punk" or "Elfpunk" . . . In Australia we call this genre "Elf Punk". But I'd like us to change this habit to "Elfpunk", like is done in German. My reason is that after having done searches on Google, Amazon etc I can see that it is much better to call this "Elfpunk" as one word, just to make it easier to narrow the search down! (Some search engines require Elf and punk, or make it hard to search for the exact term "elf punk").

2. A case for the main Wikipedia text on "Elf Punk" not being in Cyberpunk_derivatives . . . Elf Punk has little to do with Cyberpunk; only that it includes the word "punk". Elf punk is a specific kind of urban fantasy fiction.

3. A case for a separate entry on Elf Punk.

  • Comment: Hi, I agree that calling it "Elfpunk" would be better. On Google, I think "Elfpunk" brings up more specific and accurate results.

-- I am not sure if "Elfpunk" is under derivatives of "Urban Fantasy," but I think that would make more sense than having it under "Cyberpunk" (as elfpunk can sometimes be used as a marketing label).

Proposed deletion, move to subsection Cyberpunk derivatives

[edit]

The problem with the proposal is that elf punk is not a derivative of cyberpunk, it is a fantasy sub-genre that someone has tagged the punk label onto. If someone wants to get rid of it, then they should look for a different article to merge it in with. Whilst the article is bloated with quotes and source references, these have not been formatted into Wikipedia-style citations. Doing this edit would improve the quality of the article immensely.
