[edit]This is home-made egyptian blue. In reality the sample looks darker and not reddish, sorry for my camera... --FK1954 (talk) 09:32, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Updating the earliest example of Egyptian blue
[edit]I am writing this after the fact, but I updated the page to reflect the earliest verified use of Egyptian blue, which was recently published. Mea culpa, this mention lagged behind the editing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DigitDiva (talk • contribs) 23:49, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
"Coeruleum" spelling
[edit]The cited source (Caput XI) for Vitruvius referring to Egyptian blue as coeruleum actually has ae (and in a different inflection: caeruli, caeruleo) in the Latin, which seems to be more standard. Another copy of the text agrees. Apparently, newer Latin texts will often have 'coelum' for 'caelum', but I see no reason that the Wikipedia article should report this when the primary source does not. Addendum: this 1545 printing agrees. Hexadecima (talk) 23:23, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
