This should be renamed 2008 Midwest floods. Leave Message ,Yellow Evan home ,User:Yellow Evan/Sandbox,Hurricane Fausto (2002),Hurricane Hernan (2008) , Tropical Storm Dora (2005) or Tropical Storm Norman (2000) 15:13, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Any particular reason why? –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 15:16, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

it was also realeted to Lowell and the cold front. Leave Message ,Yellow Evan home ,User:Yellow Evan/Sandbox,Hurricane Fausto (2002),Hurricane Hernan (2008) , Tropical Storm Dora (2005) or Tropical Storm Norman (2000) 15:22, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Lowell didn't really play a role, as it had long been absorbed by the front and the rain would have happened either way. It is true that the flooding aspect was not entirely Ike (it was already underway due to the previous frontal boundary), but the winds - which were most of the damage - were fully done by Ike (not the front). September 2008 Midwest floods could be redirected to here though, but I'd give Ike most of the mention. CrazyC83 (talk) 20:13, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What's troubling is that now NHC says otherwise. I coordinated with colleagues both in-house at HPC and at a couple field offices across the region impacted. Few think Lowell played much of a role in the precipitation, and that Ike along with the upper trough which caused recurvature were mainly responsible. It's been decided for months that no Lowell TC rainfall graphic would be produced, per collaboration, and at least one of those involved in the collaboration is now at TPC. Go figure.
