[edit]I'm confused on how this is an upcoming film seeing how it is marked as 1978.
- This is NOT an upcoming film. There is a new animated film with the same title (and about the same Marvel comics character) which was released in 2007. This is an article about the 1978 live action film. Rosencomet (talk) 16:28, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Here's a good article that might have info to add - [1] - Favre1fan93 (talk) 06:06, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
I've made a start, and done a fair bit to improve the plot and added more reviews to reception (geez people hate this). I'm not entirely sure from either that article or other sources I've found how accurate the plot is. Is the Nameless One in the cast list actually called that anywhere in the film or on the DVD box or credits in the film? If Lermind or whatever was originally meant to be Merlin (as indicated in the article above) was this cut from the final shooting script (it does explain the presence of Morgan le Fay, but I'd like to know for sure it's not in the show before saying anything in Production.) – Of course, "Dr." and "Doctor" are pronounced the same and have the same meaning. Unlike Doctor Who, Strange is referred to both ways. I don't think most readers are going to think, "Oh yes, the TV film from the 70s was 'Dr.' and the recent Marvel Studios movie spelled it out!'" Given the time between the films, having the date in the titles will be much more useful to disambiguate. --BDD (talk) 14:43, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose as there is enough of a difference between "Dr." and "Doctor". Additionally, hatnotes are currently used at the top of both articles to direct users if they happened across the wrong article. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:04, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support: There is no meaningful difference to the reader between "Dr." and "Doctor". If neither topic is primary, disambiguation should be used. —BarrelProof (talk) 17:16, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- Mild Support partially due to the existence of the Doctor Strange (2007 film) redirect. - DinoSlider (talk) 17:44, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Opposeper WP:SMALLDETAILS, "The general approach is that whatever readers might type in the search box, they are guided as swiftly as possible to the topic they might reasonably be expected to be looking for, by such disambiguation techniques as hatnotes and/or disambiguation pages. When such navigation aids are in place, small details are usually sufficient to distinguish topics..." Since none of the articles here are the primary topic, readers will wind up at Doctor Strange (disambiguation) and use the descriptions there to aid in navigating to the appropriate topic. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 19:44, 5 June 2017 (UTC)- On the second thought, readers who use the "Search Wikipedia" search box in the upper right would benefit from seeing the release year in the article title. - Support at least the 1978 film. The 2016 film is sometimes referred to as "Dr. Strange" in sources;[2][3][4] this doesn't appear especially frequent, but it probably happens more than the 1978 film is referred to at all. Moreover, given that the character is very frequently called "Dr. Strange", readers may expect that Dr. Strange (film) refers to the best known movie about the character. I'm not sure the 2016 film is as ambiguous, but the earlier film should definitely be moved, with Dr. Strange (film) redirecting to the dab page per WP:PARTIALDAB.--Cúchullain t/c 19:57, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support adding the date makes the article title more accurate.Eschoryii (talk) 01:20, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support both moves. This is a textbook example of two films with essentially the same title. ONR (talk) 04:17, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:03, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support. There are numerous exceptions (Mr/Mr./Mister-----Blvd/Blvd./Boulevard-----Fifth Avenue Girl/5th Avenue Girl/5th Ave Girl [same film]) to WP:SMALLDETAILS and this should be one of such exceptions, thus minimizing confusion and inconsistency. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 15:07, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support same character, same story, different years. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:41, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
